So who has ever listened to Bush or the fact that Israel has been occupying the West Bank and Gaza for over 40 years, the sole purpose of which is to confiscate Palestinian lands hidden behind a deceitful propaganda campaign that depicts Palestinian militants as terrorists rather than legitimate resisters, at least according to international law?

These folks:

The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation yesterday sent out this anniversary message: Take Action on the 5th Anniversary of Rachel Corrie’s Death and the Iraq War, which started only three days later.

PhotobucketOn March 16, 2003, the Israeli army killed U.S. peace activist Rachel Corrie with a Caterpillar D-9 bulldozer in a refugee camp in Rafah, in the Israeli-occupied Gaza Strip. Rachel was killed while she non-violently tried to prevent the demolition by Israel of a Palestinian family’s home.Three days later, on March 19, 2003, the United States launched what former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan deemed an “illegal” war on Iraq. Rachel Corrie’s all too brief life was dedicated to promoting justice, the dignity of all human beings, and a world free of want and war.On the tragic 5th anniversary of her death and our country’s ongoing war on and occupation of Iraq, the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation asks all of its member organizations and individual supporters to recommit themselves to the ideals for which Rachel Corrie stood and to take action to realize the goals for which she struggled.

This picture taken between 3:00-4:00PM, 16 March 2003, Rafah, Occupied Gaza. Rachel Corrie (L) and Nick (R) oppose the potential destruction of this home (to the west of the Doctor’s home where Rachel was killed). In an instance, the bulldozer did not stop and Rachel was pinned between the scooped earth and the fence behind her. On this occasion, the driver stopped before seriously? injuring her.

Learn more about Rachel Corrie, who died, was a volunteer with the International Solidarity Movement, at this site.

The site of the US Campaign also lists several ways anyone can TAKE ACTION to help stop the military occupation of the Palestinians. Action is how to become involved in stopping the decades of human rights injustices against the Palestinian people.
