Welcome back.
This week we will be continuing with the new painting that I started last week, the Victorian house in Las Vegas, New Mexico, seen in the photo directly below. As usual, I’ll be using acrylics. This one is large for me, the canvas is 11×14.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.
Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting. Seen in the photo directly below is the house with its features now outlined in white. This is for the placement of the various windows and woodwork, the shapes and color will change later on.
After that, I painted in blue to begin the heavy shadows and roof. The color will change before we’re done. This is seen in the photo directly below, the current state of the painting.
That’s about it for now. I’ll see you next week. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.
Paint me a picture of your thoughts.
Hi b2. I always know your diary on Sat. will be a nice oasis from all turmoil and politics we read every day here.
Painting is looking very good. That house though seems out of place in New Mexico and looks more like houses from where I grew up in Wisconsin.
Thanks, CI! It’s interesting how this particular town has a number of Victorian structures, not something commonly seen in that area.
I love western type houses or maybe it’s more the mexican/moorish/tuscan style architecture but seeing that house makes kinda homesick for where I grew up.
This one is coming along fine Boran2.
It looks like a fun house with a lot of stories to it, but I also wouldn`t picture it at it`s location either.
Thanks, Knucklehead.
One thing about the western Victorians, they tend to be lower, often 1 1/2 stories. Eastern ones usually have 2 full. Strangely enough, we have one very much like this example right near where I live. It is unusual for our area, I haven’t seen another like it near us.
