Lieberman is on fire:
NAPITALIANO: Hey Sen. Lieberman, you know Barack Obama, is he a Marxist as Bill Kristol says might be the case in today’s New York Times? Is he an elitist like your colleague Hillary Clinton says he is?
LIEBERMAN: Well, you know, I must say that’s a good question. I know him now for a little more than three years since he came into the Senate and he’s obviously very smart and he’s a good guy. I will tell ya that during this campaign, I’ve learned some things about him, about the kind of environment from which he came ideologically. And I wouldn’t…I’d hesitate to say he’s a Marxist, but he’s got some positions that are far to the left of me and I think mainstream America.
He’s on a roll:
Remarks Prepared for Senator Joseph Lieberman
Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation
Semper Fidelis Award
New York, New York
April 10, 2008I want to thank Jim [Kallstrom, chairman of the foundation] for that introduction and thank the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation for this award that bears the proud Marine Corps motto:
“Semper Fidelis!” Always Faithful.
It is a special honor to be honored along with General Pace, Secretary Baker, and Rush Limbaugh.
As you may know, I was re-elected to the Senate in 2006 as an Independent. People often ask me how being an Independent is different from being a Democrat.
After tonight, I have a new answer.
As an Independent, it doesn’t bother me at all to be honored at the same dinner with Rush Limbaugh.
In fact, to show you how much things have changed for me, one of my greatest missions this year is to convince Rush to support the Republican candidate for President!
The truth is I greatly admire Rush’s love for our country and support for our troops, as shown by his remarks tonight and his generous support of MCLEF. Rush has a big voice but he has heart that is even bigger.
You can only hope to contain him:
Hugh Hewitt: Senator Lieberman, when I listened to Senator Obama yesterday
quizzing General Petraeus, I mean, he’s a nice guy…Joe Lieberman: Right.
Hugh Hewitt: …but he’s in way over his head on this stuff. This is complicated, and I don’t hold myself out as a foreign policy expert, but I just didn’t get the sense that he was aware of a great deal of the nuances involved with Iran and its various entities. Do you have confidence that he really gets the war on terror?
Joe Lieberman: Well, look, he’s a smart individual, and he’s very well-spoken.
But you know, he doesn’t have the experience. That’s why I get so angry when people try to give John McCain a hard time. They keep trying to play gotcha with him. Trust me, he knows the difference between Sunnis and Shias, McCain does, and he knows the enemy we’re fighting. What worries me about Obama is that he has…not just that he’s not experienced in the way McCain is, but he has a naïve view of the enemy. These…you know, McCain will always want to use diplomacy and economic sanctions before he goes to military power. But there are some people in the world who’ll never stop attacking us, and trying to go after our allies, unless they fear us. That’s unfortunately the case, and I think Ahmadinejad and the Iranian fanatics are a group like that. So for Obama to say he’s just going to sit down with them, and you know, have a Kumbaya moment, it’s not going to work.
Joe’s got the joementum and nothing’s gonna stop him now.
I just hope the people in CT are listening to this asshole and vote him out in 2012.
there’s a certain folklore saying, “time is a lot longer than rope…so leave it to time.”
2012? No.
Lieberman’s rope will be cut November 4, 2008. He’s hitched his wagon to the GOP.
I know once we get a true majority in the Senate we can take all his positions on any committees but he still in office unless the good people of CT do a recall election.
If the Democrats do get a true majority in November and don’t strip LIEberman of all of his committees, I will quit the Democratic Party.
I think Joe knows he is going to get killed if he runs for re-election in 2012. That’s why he’s hoping so bad for a McCain presidency – it allows him to jump to the Cabinet, whereby the Republican governor of CT can appoint a true Republican to his seat.
What a turd.
Wolf Blitzer introduced him as an “independent democrat”. I don’t use any caps because I couldn’t figure out what it meant when Blitzer said it. With nothing capitalized it means one thing – With a capital “I” it means another – With a capital “D” it means another – and with both “I” and “D” caps, still something else.
Well, I don’t suppose Wolf could explain it either.
Wretch.
“Now with more Zell!”.
Who is the next ranking Democrat on Homeland Security? Because it is obscene that we permit this jerk to be committee chair.
Somehow he’s managed to top previous outrageous statements.
Joe makes me sick.
this has basically turned into a revenge flick.
the once loyal-in-his-own-mind-democrat holy joe got so comfy in his plush senate throne that he believed it an entitlement. it was to be his roost until he chose to pass it on to a hand-picked, well-groomed and obedient successor, a holy joe jr.
then came along an upstart, a mere amateur, who, with the help of those orc-like foul-mouthed and disruptive bloggers, led by this carpetbagging hamsher-person, had tricked his adoring but misguided constituents into abandoning him.
the rejection would prove too much for his gentle and delicate soul. patronizing love for his party would curdle into contemptuous hate — not for the misbegotten democrats, no, they were not to blame, although the idiots should have known better — but for the sinister far-left cyber-terrorists who refuse to accept things the way were meant to be.
his new mission was clear — in order to save the democratic party, and by extension the empire, he would have to destroy it, even if he had to become a republican to do it. he has no choice, you see!
so i see ian mcdiarmid in the tv movie. he can even use his star wars outfit for the role.
