Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, just days after threatening Iran with “massive retaliation” should it attack Israel, has now gone one further:
‘Clinton further displayed tough talk in an interview airing on Good Morning America Tuesday, ABC News’ Chris Cuomo asked Clinton what she would do if Iran attacked Israel with nuclear weapons.
“I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president we will attack Iran,” Clinton said. “In the next ten years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them.”‘
For an interesting parallel, have a look at Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s recent threat to “eliminate” Israel if it attacked Iran.
The State Department claimed that this outburst legitimised international sanctions against Iran, describing it as “unbelievable rhetoric…about attacking a fellow member of the United Nations. “Any civilized person finds that disturbing.”
Well, Clinton’s statement above was surely much worse than Ahmadinejad’s warning, because there was nothing conditional about her threat (“we will attack Iran”) and because as President of the global military superpower Clinton would actually have the capacity to deliver on her threat.
The obvious conclusion is that international sanctions should be imposed on Hillary Clinton immediately.

My response when I first heard it in the debate was, OMFG!
Now it’s “…and she claims she’s the one who can get us out of Iraq?
According to juan Cole, this statement, “threat to “eliminate” Israel (from the map),” is based on a mistranslation of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s words, which may have been a repetition of a line in an old Komieni speech. It allegedly only referred to Zionism or the government, but not Israel per se.
However, Israel has preferred to mistranslated version.
PS: Did the BBC ever play the documentary about Iran’s threats and Israel’s military plans for Iran on the air in England?
The alleged threat from Ahmadinejad to have Israel “wiped off the map” is certainly a fabrication, as detailed by Juan Cole and by Arash Norouzi here.
However, Ahmadinejad recently threatened to “eliminate” Israel if Israel attacks Iran. As far as I know no-one has disputed this translation.
I’m not sure which documentary you are referring to. I certainly don’t recall watching anything like what you’ve described on the BBC, although I may well just have missed it.
One would certainly expect a strong verb from the IRranian government if it were speaking in terms of retaliating to an attack by Israel or anyone else, like America. Less concerned with language in this regard than with interpretations of alleged threats to Israel by Iran in the media.
Both Hillary Clinton and McCain seem willing to accept Israel’s worse case senario and are ready to do its bidding by attacking Iran.
under sniper fire, let me ask a stupid: last time we looked, Israel was sitting with over 200 nukes – its very own nuclear deterrent – hovering over the region; when were these dismantled, encased in cement?
yep, if Clinton is ready to be commander-in-chief, she just proved NOT. God help us. Scary woman.
Dust off those bunkers, get out the HEPA filters, survival food, water and duck tape.
Mrs. Clinton doesn’t inspire confidence, does she? When will the world ever recognize Israel’s nuclear arsenal and begin dealing with it? For instance, how did the technology and the weapons ever get there in the first place? Israel is not the small, defenceless country, vulnerable and victimized, as many supporters would prefer to depict it as. Oh, Mrs. Clinton, your ranting is ugly and senseless.
We barely stepped back from the precipice of nuclear war 20 years ago. Now Hillary’s throwing around talk of nuclear weapons like they’re lawn darts! Nuclear weapons need to be permanently off the table for everyone, no matter the situation. And honestly, I’d be more concerned about what we’re going to do if Israel attacks Iran than vice-versa.
Clinton, may not have a chance look who just got promoted, because the Admiral Fallon didn’t want to invade Iran;

She is one scary piece of work. I hear things like that, and my hair stands on end.
