That sheep is so adorable it looks like a stuffed animal.  Makes me feel guilty for eating curried goat yesterday at the Jamaican place…

            That sounds yummy.

They had lamb kebabs at the Sheep and Wool festival on Saturday.  I had packed my lunch (wanting to save my $ for, you know, yarn or something) but it smelled delish.

Ooh, it was so good.  And with some Ital stew and jerk chicken wings I never wanted to leave.

            Ingredients:
2 C dried beans (any kind)
            2 medium Idaho potatoes
            1 C diced yellow yams
            2 medium sweet potatoes
            12 medium okra
2 C fresh corn (cut kernels off cob)
            3 medium carrots
            3 stalks of scallions
            3 cloves fresh garlic
1 small green Scotch bonnet (habanero) pepper
            3 C natural coconut milk
            1 T soya margarine
            7-12 pimento seeds (allspice)
            7-12 pimento seeds (allspice)
            3 pieces fresh thyme
            2 C whole wheat flour
            Fresh cilantro (garnish)

I’m uploading my pictures now for a Knit-a-palooza on it, and I’ll try to post it before I leave in for yoga in an hour.  The pictures of my prizes are probably going to wait till tomorrow for me to take pictures though (it’s a dismal day here.)

Yeah, everything is gorgeously lush around here. It took spring awhile to get here but it sure was worth the wait.

And all the rain we’ve been getting over the last 18 hours or so is just going to help the rain forest look even more.

We had loads of rain yesterday. Right now it’s just overcast but there’s a chance of rain.

We finally got our new kitchen counters yesterday (still waiting for the new faucet for the new sink). It’s pretty nice not to look over there and see the old stained, chewed up butcher block top.

Will we get to see some photos of the new countertops after the faucet arrives?

That reminds me, I still need to post before and afters of my bathroom.

Hopefully we’ll have a more relaxing day today…yesterday the water heater died and one of the dogs had a seizure.

Andi, I’m sorry you’re already back to the stormy weather.  (and not just because it means we get it next!)

Ask, your plans for today sound wonderful.  I’m hoping to squeak in a walk later, after yoga class this morning, but I’m sure it won’t compare to the Conservatory Garden.

Honestly, b2 .. what havoc! July in April, October in May. What next — monsoons?
      Via NOAA:

Today…Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of rain this morning…then a slight chance of showers this afternoon. Highs around 50. East winds 15 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 40 mph this morning in the highest terrain.

(That’s where I am, I guess. Note: always subtract 8-10 degrees for a semblance of hilltop accuracy. Add water & stir.)

      Chance of rain 20 percent.
Tonight…Mostly cloudy in the evening…then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 30s. North winds 10 to 15 mph.

In any case, I hope everyone’s doing well. Many, many thanks for absolutely delicious images above. Your work still delights my soul, Andi.

Belated Mother’s Day wishes to all mothers, sons & daughters present, as well.

Woke up to a horse in our shed eating the alpaca hay. I sang out to the neighbor who I had herd calling shortly before.  They retrieved their horse, and we simultaneously lost our dog – who headed after them.  Retrieved dog from neighbors. Finally sat down at computer to find no internet connection.  Talked with tech on phone, reconfigured everything and decided the problem was with the phone company, who the tech notified.  A few hours later, I’m back online.

I had sick kids home from school/needing to be picked up early due to illness, took the dog to the vet for updated shots, worked furiously to finish 2 work projects that I don’t have all the pieces for (still don’t have those, have to try again tomorrow morning), and am now winding down with some sock-knitting and blog-reading.

Actually we’re more likely to find the pademelons helping themselves to our hay.  But they’re so cute (and relatively small) that we can’t take offense.

I once had a horse that was so attractive to other horses that if anyone’s went missing they just showed up at our place to retrieve it.  Mojave was a terrible flirt.  Mares, geldings, it didn’t matter, she’d flirt with them.

I’m sorry to hear about the sick kids and missing bits. I’ve never quite gotten the hang of knitting (despite being a fine spinner), so you have my admiration on that front.

      Good morning!
      That’s excellent.
I also had a good night, sleeping till 6.30 and waking up to a bright, blue sky this morning.

Ha!  I awoke to my daughter’s three finches beeping and twittering around in their cage, which has been conveniently placed in my bedroom for the summer while she is away building a hay bale house in Canada.  Who knew someone could acquire so much STUFF in 4.5 years of college…

Morning Folks!!!  I am stunned the Diva Dogs let me sleep till 6:45 am.  I am drinking my first cup of java and trying to wake up. LOL  Here is a link to my latest post on my blog: The Cheese Tray Awards.

I took aim at my least favorite thing which is whiners. LOL

LOL  Well, I was a little ticked off at somethings that had happened in Texas in the last few days and with one certain campaign. LOL  The Cheese tray Awards will stay a part of my blog as I pick the major whiners in politics every couple of weeks or more often as the November election cycle gets under way.

I don’t know.  Having a relationship with two females at the same time is just asking for trouble.

yep.  But I’ve always thought it would be great to have 3 or 4 husbands – each one assigned to a specific task.  One would be the handyman around the house.  One would kill the bugs and be my personal hero.  One would be purely for sexual enjoyment.  One would provide stimulating conversation.

I think you might be on to something there.

Of course, it’s probably cheaper and less hassle to just hire a handyman/lawn guy/pest treatment service…

In the last year or so I seem to have finally started to transition to what I consider adult sleeping patterns – ie not feeling like death warmed up if I have less than 8.5 hours sleep. And I routinely wake up well before the alarm.

This sympatico with older, wiser people’s experience? Can’t decide if it’s the result of the last 6 months of perpetual job stress, or I’m just finally growing up.

See me new niece down below!

Is she (reasonably) close to you, or on a different continent?

This one’s local.  Charlotte’s father is Imogen’s brother.  His family and Imogen’s mother both live south of Hobart.

Charlotte’s mother is originally from Germany, so yesterday evening Imogen and I drove down to the Hobart hospital so that I could take photos of the baby at a few hours old to send to Oma und Opa im Deutchland.

Thanks.  Imogen and I are doing our best to fulfill the role of eccentric “Aunties”, and just generally being “bad” influences. 😀

Freya is Charlotte’s three-year-old sister. Her first sentence was “Albert is fluffy”.  We teach only the essentials at our place.

Mum and bub are doing just fine and should be going home in two days (the Tasmanian public hospitals give mothers the option of staying for three days, so that they can continue to monitor everyone’s progress – but they might go home sooner since this is their second child and they’ve got the hang of it now).

Spoiling kids is the fun part of being an Aunt or an uncle.  I spoiled my niece and nephew worse than you can ever imagine and then took them home to mom and pop.
