How is everyone this morning?
I miss FM.
And yes, I miss FM a lot.
I just love the look on the sheep’s face.
That sheep is so adorable it looks like a stuffed animal. Makes me feel guilty for eating curried goat yesterday at the Jamaican place…
That sounds yummy.
They had lamb kebabs at the Sheep and Wool festival on Saturday. I had packed my lunch (wanting to save my $ for, you know, yarn or something) but it smelled delish.
Ooh, it was so good. And with some Ital stew and jerk chicken wings I never wanted to leave.
Ingredients:
2 C dried beans (any kind)
2 medium Idaho potatoes
1 C diced yellow yams
2 medium sweet potatoes
12 medium okra
2 C fresh corn (cut kernels off cob)
3 medium carrots
3 stalks of scallions
3 cloves fresh garlic
1 small green Scotch bonnet (habanero) pepper
3 C natural coconut milk
1 T soya margarine
7-12 pimento seeds (allspice)
7-12 pimento seeds (allspice)
3 pieces fresh thyme
2 C whole wheat flour
Fresh cilantro (garnish)
That sounds REALLY good…and I think even CBtY (newly minted vegetarian) could eat that.
OOOOO!! You got to go to the Sheep & Wool Festival? How was it? What did you get?
It was really fun…and unbelievably crowded compared to when I went last time.
I’m uploading my pictures now for a Knit-a-palooza on it, and I’ll try to post it before I leave in for yoga in an hour. The pictures of my prizes are probably going to wait till tomorrow for me to take pictures though (it’s a dismal day here.)
Good morning! Yep, he is missed.
Huh? What? What happened to FM?
He’s been having health issues that have cut down on his blogging.
Well I’m glad to hear he’s still around but sorry to hear his health isn’t what it ought to be. Maybe someone should go visit him and offer to type for him for a day so he can say hello. 🙂
I’m ignoring the recipes for our little woolly friends and just taking in the exceptional cuteness of the Cotswold lamb.
or to be more precise, an embarrassment of green is what this spring has brought.

That looks like my backyard, only minus the stream.
Our grass is growing at an alarming rate.
Yeah, everything is gorgeously lush around here. It took spring awhile to get here but it sure was worth the wait.
And all the rain we’ve been getting over the last 18 hours or so is just going to help the rain forest look even more.
Good morning everyone.
I hope no one minds that I just deleted all of our spammer’s comments. I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes back, but if he does, he’ll get the same treatment.
Wow, it’s been a while since we had a spammer, and that one was spewing Chinese IIRC.
It was fun to see if the mega-troll rating button actually worked
LOL . . . I occasionally wonder if I shouldn’t make up a version of Robo-Rater that doles out zeroes and give the URL to a few trusted associates.

Pretty. I like the way the light is hitting those leaves.
Rainy, rainy, rainy here today. How about you?
We had loads of rain yesterday. Right now it’s just overcast but there’s a chance of rain.
We finally got our new kitchen counters yesterday (still waiting for the new faucet for the new sink). It’s pretty nice not to look over there and see the old stained, chewed up butcher block top.
that’s NOT see the old stained, chewed up butcher block top.
and with that I’m off into the “rain” forest.
I hope our rain stops today. It’s been puring since last night.
Will we get to see some photos of the new countertops after the faucet arrives?
That reminds me, I still need to post before and afters of my bathroom.
I’ve probably got one of the more unexciting kitchen but sure — even though I’m sure your bathroom will way kewler than my kitchen. 🙂
I don’t have a before but here’s some of the old butcher block counter.
Here’s the new counter, sink, and faucet. Exciting, innit.
Holy cow! I think the beige was a little daring with the brown. But you are all about ostentation. 🙂
Hey, there are exacting standards involved in being the second most boring couple in the world.
P.S. Jim says that 1) it’s more sand than beige and 2) there black, brown, and gray flecks in it and 3):P
I’m glad to see that you have, at least, cabinet doors. We constructed our own cabinets at our last house and the doors somehow got left until the very last, after we had moved in for several years. Mrs. Dem calls the style “Brown County Finished”.
Well as you can see, we’ve never got around to things like curtains or, as you can’t see, baseboard trim — our own version of “Brown County Finished”. 🙂
Sleepless night and thunderstorms for my flight to Cleveland. White knuckle time…
Morning, everyone.
Good morning, SN. Sorry about the sleepless night.
What time does your flight leave? Maybe the thunderstorms will be over by the time you’re heading up.
It leaves at ten. I think we’ll have thunderstorms all day here in NC, and we tickets to the Indians game in Cleveland, and it’ll probably rain there too. 🙁
Are any of the offspring going with you?
I’ll just hope that the weather people are wrong (as they so often are) and that things at least clear up for the game tonight. Who are they playing?
Nope, just me. The offspring are all going to Charlotte for the Radiohead concert tonight.
I’m not looking forward to the trip, but felt I had to go for Mother’s Day. My sibs who take care of her think this might be her last one.
Well, I hope you have fun at the game, and that everyone has a good time on Mother’s day.
btw, I love that your kids all do stuff together. And I wanna go see Radiohead! 🙂
I’m sure I’ve missed you but I hope you have a very uneventful flight and as pleasant a trip home as possible.
What andi said, SN.
Good morning Folks!!!! I am up early so I can do some laundry before going out to register voters most of the day and then try and attend to different parties for candidates who are running for city council in Austin. The municipal elections are today and I really hope these two win,
I hope your candidates win and that the Diva Dogs enjoy lying on your nicely folded, newly clean, slightly warm laundry. 😉
Morning Miss Andi!!! Trust me I will make sure the laundry is put away before I leave. I learned the hard way when I came home one day and my clean laundry was spread out in the back yard and being used as an outdoor bed by the Diva Dogs. LOL
Yep, laundry is definitely a dog’s Fatal Attraction.
Yes they like laundry almost as much as they do a garbage can. LOL
Well I’m outta here — the dogs think it’s a fine time to go for a walk and I’m inclined to agree.
Have a great and productive day.
Good morning refinish69 and Andi! Looks like a gorgeous day here. The local merchants have revived the free classic car cruise-in so we’ll have entertainment outside our front door every Saturday for the entire summer. I’m impressed by the car owners leaving the place absolutely clean of trash when the event is over.
Hope everyone has a fine one.

Good morning!
Pretty flowers.
Wow, seven hours + of straight sleep – I’d like for that to become a habit…
And happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful mothers!
I hope the gorgeous day we had yesterday is arriving at your place. (Unfortunately, it’s all gone here — we’re cool and stormy.)
It’s absolutely gorgeous, all blue and slightly on the cool side. Soon time for a walk in the park and the Conservatory Garden.
Too bad this will (apparently) not last.
Sounds like lovely way to spend Mom’s day. Enjoy.
Very pretty. Unfortunately I am still in Cleveland, freezing my apparently southernified ass off.
Happy Mom’s Day everyone!
Besides temps in the 50s, we’ve had thunderstorms already this morning. I hope you’ve missed that at least.
It’s supposed to be stormy and windy for my flight this afternoon in that teeny plane…
Ah, I’m sorry. I hope the trip has been going okay.
Um, it’s been interesting. I got in a “discussion” with my very conservative sister who I hadn’t really spoken to in several years. My other family members didn’t save me, but looked on with pity and amusement.
My family members do that to me just about every time I’m in a social setting but, unlike you, I pretty much deserve it.
Have you already given your mom the “memory book” or are you doing it today?
We gave it to her yesterday. She enjoyed it and it sparked a lot of funny memories. A couple of my sisters took the easy way out and just wrote something like “I learned to be independent”….mine were like wiki pages, as you know. If I had known we didn’t have to give detail I wouldn’t have.
Yours were wonderful and I’m sure they delighted her.
Well speaking of moms, if I’m going to walk before we go to the mother’s day outing, I’ve got to get going.
Have a pleasant day and a safe journey.
It’s a beautiful day outside…which is a nice change after the rain and gloom this week.
Hopefully we’ll have a more relaxing day today…yesterday the water heater died and one of the dogs had a seizure.
Andi, I’m sorry you’re already back to the stormy weather. (and not just because it means we get it next!)
Ask, your plans for today sound wonderful. I’m hoping to squeak in a walk later, after yoga class this morning, but I’m sure it won’t compare to the Conservatory Garden.
SN, I hope the rest of your visit goes smoothly and that the ‘discussions’ are kept to a minimum.
Did I miss anyone?
Good Morning all!!!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms among us!
We’re off to Indy to visit the m-i-l, a very nice lady.
I’m not up to it but the forecast is so that ought to help. Good morning/afternoon/evening all.

Good morning, Andi!
You were right; we’re inheriting your mess from yesterday.
Lot’s of rain heading our way today and and flood warning for coastal areas due to heavy wind/tide.
We got about 2 1/2 inches along with really high winds but the good news is that the sun is coming out today so there should be better weather coming.
yeah, I had an interesting time circling the skies of NC in a holding pattern for almost an hour while tornadoes and severe thunderstorms passed through. Did I mention I hate flying?
Yuck. Glad you’re home safe and sound after all that.
Double yuck. And also, feh.
Happy you are back on solid ground, though.
SN, I thought of you as I watched those great gobs of turbulence crossing NC on the teevy. LIkewise very glad you touched down safely!
Hey Luscious One! Nice to see you. And be thought of by you…. 😉
We’re getting it too…1-2 inches, high winds (already starting), and flood warnings for the whole day.
Erm. I’m glad we at least got that brief break of sunshine Saturday afternoon and yesterday morning. The gloom was (is) getting to me.
It’s c-c-cold here, and windy. Winter is back.
Honestly, b2 .. what havoc! July in April, October in May. What next — monsoons?
Via NOAA:
Today…Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of rain this morning…then a slight chance of showers this afternoon. Highs around 50. East winds 15 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 40 mph this morning in the highest terrain.
(That’s where I am, I guess. Note: always subtract 8-10 degrees for a semblance of hilltop accuracy. Add water & stir.)
Chance of rain 20 percent.
Tonight…Mostly cloudy in the evening…then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 30s. North winds 10 to 15 mph.
In any case, I hope everyone’s doing well. Many, many thanks for absolutely delicious images above. Your work still delights my soul, Andi.
Belated Mother’s Day wishes to all mothers, sons & daughters present, as well.
FM — if you do happen to be able to drop in — I wish you renewed health & happier slacking.
Alas, the Drop-In Wench must now drop out (without turning on, I’m afraid.) Hopefully will return soon.
Hay ww! Yes, it’s chilly up here in your old neighborhood. I hope it’s warm where you are.
but … Hi WW!
winter only left for a brief vacation in the tropics
now that everything’ coming up, and leafing out we’re looking at freeze warnings tonight and tomorrow, and 2-5″ of heavy wet snow…been a very cold winter and “spring” in the foothills.
what was that about climate change again?
Snow?!! Ski season makes a brief return. 😉
Yuck. If I get heavy wet snow this week, I think I’d cry. I just want the sun to come out and dry things up for a few days.
I’m trying to comfort myself with the thought that this is great for gardens.
Woke up to a horse in our shed eating the alpaca hay. I sang out to the neighbor who I had herd calling shortly before. They retrieved their horse, and we simultaneously lost our dog – who headed after them. Retrieved dog from neighbors. Finally sat down at computer to find no internet connection. Talked with tech on phone, reconfigured everything and decided the problem was with the phone company, who the tech notified. A few hours later, I’m back online.
How’s your day been?
Hmm, mine sounds uneventful compared with yours…do you often wake up to neighboring livestock having brunch at your place? 🙂
I had sick kids home from school/needing to be picked up early due to illness, took the dog to the vet for updated shots, worked furiously to finish 2 work projects that I don’t have all the pieces for (still don’t have those, have to try again tomorrow morning), and am now winding down with some sock-knitting and blog-reading.
Actually we’re more likely to find the pademelons helping themselves to our hay. But they’re so cute (and relatively small) that we can’t take offense.
I once had a horse that was so attractive to other horses that if anyone’s went missing they just showed up at our place to retrieve it. Mojave was a terrible flirt. Mares, geldings, it didn’t matter, she’d flirt with them.
I’m sorry to hear about the sick kids and missing bits. I’ve never quite gotten the hang of knitting (despite being a fine spinner), so you have my admiration on that front.
I slept till the alarm. I’m in shock.
Good morning!
That’s excellent.
I also had a good night, sleeping till 6.30 and waking up to a bright, blue sky this morning.
Ha! I awoke to my daughter’s three finches beeping and twittering around in their cage, which has been conveniently placed in my bedroom for the summer while she is away building a hay bale house in Canada. Who knew someone could acquire so much STUFF in 4.5 years of college…
Morning Folks!!! I am stunned the Diva Dogs let me sleep till 6:45 am. I am drinking my first cup of java and trying to wake up. LOL Here is a link to my latest post on my blog: The Cheese Tray Awards.
I took aim at my least favorite thing which is whiners. LOL
I see another theme in those awards too… 🙂
LOL Well, I was a little ticked off at somethings that had happened in Texas in the last few days and with one certain campaign. LOL The Cheese tray Awards will stay a part of my blog as I pick the major whiners in politics every couple of weeks or more often as the November election cycle gets under way.
I love the idea of cheese tray awards!
TY!!!!
You lucky girl! 🙂
Did she at least bring a nice tee-vee for in your room too?
RPTFLMAO!!!! Yeah the one she left home with 4.5 years ago.
I brought home a ferret when I came back home once…mom was not amused.
No, but Clarence, Roy (a girl) and Petals are great company. 🙂
And in addition to being cheerful early in the morning, I bet they don’t smell or snore, either. 🙂
They seem to be monogamous – at least as a threesome. Clarence is a happy little guy…
I don’t know. Having a relationship with two females at the same time is just asking for trouble.
yep. But I’ve always thought it would be great to have 3 or 4 husbands – each one assigned to a specific task. One would be the handyman around the house. One would kill the bugs and be my personal hero. One would be purely for sexual enjoyment. One would provide stimulating conversation.
I think you might be on to something there.
Of course, it’s probably cheaper and less hassle to just hire a handyman/lawn guy/pest treatment service…
In the last year or so I seem to have finally started to transition to what I consider adult sleeping patterns – ie not feeling like death warmed up if I have less than 8.5 hours sleep. And I routinely wake up well before the alarm.
This sympatico with older, wiser people’s experience? Can’t decide if it’s the result of the last 6 months of perpetual job stress, or I’m just finally growing up.
See me new niece down below!
Meet Charlotte, our niece, born yesterday.
Oh, what a cutie!
Congratulations!
Is she (reasonably) close to you, or on a different continent?
This one’s local. Charlotte’s father is Imogen’s brother. His family and Imogen’s mother both live south of Hobart.
Charlotte’s mother is originally from Germany, so yesterday evening Imogen and I drove down to the Hobart hospital so that I could take photos of the baby at a few hours old to send to Oma und Opa im Deutchland.
How sweet!!!! sending good thoughts to the family and a wish for a happy and fulfilling life for sweet Charlotte!!!!
Thanks. Imogen and I are doing our best to fulfill the role of eccentric “Aunties”, and just generally being “bad” influences. 😀
Freya is Charlotte’s three-year-old sister. Her first sentence was “Albert is fluffy”. We teach only the essentials at our place.
Mum and bub are doing just fine and should be going home in two days (the Tasmanian public hospitals give mothers the option of staying for three days, so that they can continue to monitor everyone’s progress – but they might go home sooner since this is their second child and they’ve got the hang of it now).
Spoiling kids is the fun part of being an Aunt or an uncle. I spoiled my niece and nephew worse than you can ever imagine and then took them home to mom and pop.
She’s adorable! Congratulations to all!
