DNC Chairman Howard Dean has announced the representatives for the 2008 Democratic National Convention’s State Blogger Corps in Denver, Colorado this coming August.
“Similar to the record-breaking voter turnout our Party has seen during the primary season, the demand for these coveted blogger positions is yet another indicator of the tremendous interest in this historic Convention,” said Governor Dean. “The Internet has played a critical role in connecting Americans to elected officials and candidates seeking office. The DemConvention State Blogger Corps will continue to foster this dialogue – in all 50 of our states and our territories too – as we head towards this year’s historic election and elect a Democrat to the White House.”
The selected blogs are listed below the fold. Congratulations to all of the citizen journalists that make up each site’s writing team:

Anyone going to the convention?
I won’t be there due to commitments I (perhaps foolishly) made during the 2006 election, but I’m glad to see Thomas of Blue Indiana will be. He’s very nearly a neighbor of mine;-)
Thanks for the list!
Congrats to your neighbor, perhaps we’ll get to meet up another time π
I’m planning to be there, though waiting on the DNC to finish announcing their general blogger pool peeps to see what my timeframe will be in the mile high city.
Wish I could join you there. This one will have a very special place in history!
Hi Manny, nice to know you’re going to be there. At least I know I’ll be getting some fair/balanced news from no doubt what will be a debacle of coverage from our msm.
Very nice also to see how the bloggers have become officially recognized for this convention. Good for Howard Dean.
thanks, ink. I dunno about balanced, but I intend to have fun! π
Dean did well with incorporating new media for this convention, we’ll see how it all shakes out
.
DEARBORN, Mich. (AP/BreakingNews) – Democrat John Edwards has given his long-awaited endorsement to Barack Obama.
It’s a major boost from a former presidential rival as Obama tries to shrug off Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is determined to press ahead.
Edwards was to appear with Obama in Grand Rapids, Mich., as Obama campaigns in a critical general election battleground.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
about time!
Woo Hoo! and a carload of delegates too!
Eight Edwards delegates in South Carolina move to Obama
ADD Chairman Henry Waxman and Congressman Howard Berman
unofficial count – 124.5 total delegates to clinch the nomination.
Excellent, but they probably shoulda gone for bluejersey. Thanks for posting this, Manny.
I wonder what the selection criteria were. When I first saw this I figured somebody like Washblog would get the nod from Washington, but then I saw that the most excellent Horse’s Ass was selected. Both are good blogs, but Goldy at HA is funny, irreverent, caustic, opinionated and gives as good as he gets to the trolls who frequent his site. Not only that he gets to the bottom of stories — he was the guy who broke the story about Michael Brown’s qualifications, or lack thereof, to head FEMA — and he is a darn good writer. In other words he’s as close to perfection as you can get in a blogger. π
There was an application that each blog had to fill out with the contact info for the peeps that we were interested in credentialing for each respective site. They also asked for the Authority rankings from Technorati to see traffic numbers and asked that there was at least 6(?) months worth of activity.
My guess is, they spent the past few weeks monitoring each site to see who was doing the job of covering local stuff and went from there. Governor Dean videotaped a personal YouTube message to each state blogger, which I thought was a nice touch. Here is a link to the one from Arizona. Tedski is definitely the #1 blogger in the state, so he will be a great rep.
Hm. The one Goldy put up on HA just said “you have been chosen to represent your state or territory.” Kinda generic. On the other hand maybe he got a private one he didn’t share.
Now Goldy have to figure out how to get to Denver. Goldy isn’t making much (or maybe any) off of blogging and got laid off from his gig doing a weekend talk show a while back, so as the new buzzword goes, the optics on his finances ain’t too good. π
yeah, i’ve heard some grumbling about some of their selections, but I guess that comes with the game.
Thanks for reading, boran2
Not only do I know most of the people who blog over at Calitics, but they do a wonderful job of keeping tabs on CA politics in all locals not just LA and SF. Kudos to them. I hope they since Juls, David and/or Paul.
I hope they send…
