I’ve got some database problems and I need to upgrade my server. I will try to initiate that process today, but I’ve got a lot of things on my plate at the moment. I’m tempted to respond to Larry Johnson’s increasingly demented ramblings but if I did the whole world would link to it and the site would crash again and no one would be able to read it anyway. So I’m not going to say anything of interest on the topic until the server is upgraded.
Sam Graham-Felsen, Obama’s internet-outreach guy, keeps sending me updates every half-hour or so of new superdelegates that have endorsed Barack. I think the threshold number is now down to thirty-two. Obama should win about 17 delegates from the contests tonight. So, put the real number at fifteen.
You can vote for Vee-Pee here.
demented. Wingnuttery, meet Hillnuttery.
I don’t like the way this poll has been freeped. The Borg Queen is first. Sibelius and Napolitano don’t even show up as women who are just as capable and have less baggage.
My ballot was Napolitano (The West vote is key)
Sibelius
Richardson
Webb
Clark
Only Richardson showed up as viable.
Couldn’t believe what I saw. Who is taking this poll and can they take it more than once? My top group in good agreement with yours although in somewhat different order.
OK. checked subsequent rounds. Winner changes.
Governorship Richardson is currently in the #2 choice spot, catching up to Hillary in #1.
He’s my choice.
Same here.
Good luck with the server issues, BooMan. Was it the link from the great orange satan?
Yeah, Markos linked to me and then left to do chores or whatever so I couldn’t get it delinked for hours. And it was the last straw. This morning it was Digg that did me in.
Ever knock is a boost. You’re getting the attention you deserve.
Also…I wouldn’t respond to Larry any time soon.
not until the polls close, cee, not until the polls close.
Can you offer (at a time when your server is sane) an analysis of when Johnson went from rabble-rouser to vitriolic, irrational hate-monger? I have resisted clicking over to his site, but finally scanned it and couldn’t believe how little fact and how much bile was on the page.
It began when the nomination came down to Clinton vs. Obama. Up until then, Johnson hadn’t decided who to support.
At least, he hadn’t made his choice public.
Were there promises made? His “conversion” to Dem always seemed fishy. But the vitriole on the site is way beyond politics.
I recall that I posted that Seymour Hersh thought that Obama should be the president. Larry spoke up after that.
When his CIA bosses told him to do so, of course.
Please.
AG
Actually, that’s where I was going. There’s more than “she has better hair” going on here. Bill Clinton never interfered with the CIA’s shenannigans in his two terms. The stories, especially in Latin America, were criminal and tragic.
I can’t imagine Obama will turn a blind eye to that stuff. Is that the understory? (The CIA also hate BUSH, so it would make sense.)
Can someone summarize his rantings? I do not want to waste time on Johnson’s site or give him more hits.
I’ll leave that to someone else to explain.
Larry Johnson’s rantings, in sum.
This is GREAT!!
A hoax.
At the demochoice site VP race, Clinton is in the lead! GAH!
Is this the party unity of which some speak? Madness!
Oh, and let Johnson sit and mutter to himself. He just seems less credible like that — “reaping the whirlwind”, some call it. You could put it a bit more colorfully, if you’re so inclined.
Larry Johnson and Jeralyn are a Type 2
I should have asked those handicapped people I saw at the Washington caucus if they felt disenfranchised.
From AP:
Now if only somebody would fucking explain that to Hillary.
Plan 2012 will only assure John McCain’s second term.
She’s not going to concede.
She’s going to suspend and extort.
Suspend and extort.
I think there’s some kind of special breathing technique that goes along with it.
“Larry Johnson’s increasingly demented ramblings“
It does seem to get progressively worse over there, doesn’t it? Any hope I ever had of seeing No Quarter return to the worthwhile site it once was has diminished to virtually zero by now. In fact, for some weeks I have had the feeling that it is building up to some kind of horrible, cataclysmic, explosive, guts-and-blood-spattered (figuratively, of course), self-destructive climax.
It’s almost like watching a train wreck in slow motion.
Exactly. They’ve forsaken facts and sanity for hate-mongering. There’s no going back from that. And it’s a train wreck I prefer not to watch.
for No Quarter. I’m guessing their supply of crack is running out.
Jimmy Carter is apparently now officially endorsing Barack Obama, according to MSNBC (yes, I am streaming them at my desk — am I pathetic or what). They are saying the magic number is now 28.5, and Obama expects ~15 delegates out of the primaries tonight. Presumably that 15 doesn’t include the five Montana supers who are expected to come out for him tonight, so that means we’re down to 8.5 or so.
This stuff does have an addictive nature to it for the politically inclined, for sure. It’s its own kind of insanity!
And the math looks good to me. (But then I never was very good at math.) We’re almost there, looks like.
over at NQ have a pic up of Michelle Obama at the Rainbow/Push annual meeting. Mrs. Farrakhan is in the picture along with a judge (who I had the pleasure of convincing not to dismiss a case of mine), and Iraq war hero, etc…
That genius asks if that’s where Mrs. Obama went off on her tirade (that no one can prove happened).
What he didn’t do is look up the guest list for this very militant event.
Also speaking were Howard Dean, John Kerry and Bill Clinton was there or interviewed by Jesse Jackson for the event.
Idiots.
Oh, man. They’re desperating themselves into a frenzy over there.
Well, Howard Dean is of course, a well-known member of the New Black Panthers, but that’s old news…
dude. c’mon. please.
Oh come on … it’s a parody … with a double entendre. And probably something Larry Johnson has wet dreams about.
But it is in bad taste … and could be interpreted as sexist or demeaning to Michelle Obama. How do I erase posts?
I’ll erase it and thank you for asking.
Thank you. I’ll try to withhold political versions of The Aristocrats from your site from now on.
OMFG…so I just decided to check out No Quarter for myself and this just about sums up what I saw there:
Excuse me while I go throw up a little.
The sad truth is that the long primary season has exposed just how many racists there are in the Democratic Party. We thought they died off with the Dixiecrats, but apparently not.
And by the way, if Affirmative Action leads to people like Barack Obama being hired for jobs, it’s the great HR program in the history of the planet.
I am deeply disappointed in Larry and Susan, and disgusted enough by what they have turned a formerly very good site into that I want to sever any relationship I might have thought I had, but their problem with Obama is not racism. I have never seen any trace of racism in either one of them, ever.
That does not mean they would not use racism in their frantic hysteria to promote Hillary by dragging Obama through the mud any and every way they can, but their problem is not racism, it is something else.
Disclaimer: I am not – repeat NOT an Obama supporter, so my disgust with their conduct is based solely on the fact that it is quite obviously completely beyond the pale regardless of whom it is aimed at.
“Barky”? I don’t get it.
Yeah…it is curious. Maybe they’re trying to be derisive and use “Barky” as a diminutive. Or maybe it’s racial and they’re trying to make it rhyme with “darky.”
Or maybe they just need their heads examined.
I’d go with the third option.
Whatever negative things you can say about them, they are not racists.
I dunno. They seemed to readily, lustily, use racial innuendo. Where does the use of innuendo end and the racist begin?
I don”t know…and tonight, I don’t care!
I am sure they have been using whatever “weapons”, real or made up, they can come up with. Perhaps they don’t mind appealing to racists in order to undermine Obama, but they themselves are not racists. However, their use of racism does say a great deal about the cynical depths to which they are willing to dive and the degree to which they are willing to throw aside any pretense at integrity.
Look, Larry himself, and for all I know Susan, too, has on more than one occasion stretched reality and logic to a spectacular degree in an attempt to associate Obama in people’s minds with terrorism, and to make it sound as if he was in bed with Saddam Hussein based things as silly as he once was at the same meeting as someone who knew someone who was a member of the Weather Underground forty years ago when Obama was a child. So, I guess it doesn’t surprise me that he would not be above appealing to other people’s basest motives by playing the race card.
Honestly, the more I think about it, the more disgusted I become.
I am not an Obama supporter (nor am I a supporter of Hillary’s, for that matter – haven’t got a whole lot of use for either of them), but between Obama and McCain, I’ll take Obama, of course. So, while I don’t have any celebratory impulses, I wish you guys who are his supporters and nice night of elation before the real grind begins.
But what’s the difference, operationally speaking? If you’re willing to use racism as a means to your goal, to stir it up in the hearts of others, even if you don’t believe in it yourself, it seems to me it’s really worse than being a believing racist. You’re fomenting an evil as collateral damage, so to speak. You’re willing to make the whole society worse in order to achieve your end goal. And on an operational level, they are behaving as racists.
I can’t disagree with you there. I definitely agree with you that trying to appeal to others’ racism in order to achieve their ends is worse than being a racist themselves. It is cynical and hypocritical in the extreme.
I don’t think I have the words to describe how disappointed I am in the two of them, Susan in particular. It really hurts to see this, and to see how self-righteous they are about it.
