Columbia and Harvard offer excellent educations, but they can’t compare with the street.
“The best education I’ve ever had was my work as a community organizer because it taught me ordinary people can do extraordinary things…I continue to be an organizer at heart.” –Barack Obama
And I actually believe him.
If you post another compliment about Obama, I’m going to have come up there and rid your house of Kool-Aid, understand?
Now go back to the keyboard and write about something you utterly detest about the man. And be quick about it!
I’m sorry. I’ve got to learn that you can’t trust a Hawaiian under any circumstances.
C’mon…you know you can’t trust anyone who’d inspire those shirts!
Besides, If Barack is President … will we still call it the White House?
You just can’t trust someone who might change the color of the White House and wear loud shirts, now can you?
Tea leaves and Dumb Award to Axelrod Imho.
Hillary was there – in on Obama’s Veep search briefings?
Not a good move for Obama’s strategist, David Axelrod to include Lieberman in any Dem briefings of the campaign’s innards-“finding a Veep.”
or on anything campaign related.
Lieberman is solidly in McCain’s camp, in fact he’s his Chief of Staff and first attack dog.
umm…according to your link…
take three deep breaths idredit
…I’m pretty sure Holy Joe is Wholly scared of him. Obama has a chat with him and staff comes out with some BS puffery that supposed to be a tough statement…three days later? Punk move.
noted.thanks.
shouldn’t post with one eye.
This should cheer you up: Maryland’s 4th Congressional District is about 30 min. from electing Donna Edwards, a true progressive and the 1st African-American woman to Congress from the Free State of Maryland.
She is the only woman in the House delegation; 2nd woman in the entire delegation.
I’ve never been prouder…and it’s gorgeous outside, too.
That’s Great News, AP. Donna Edwards’ star is rising. Very impressive.
we could use some of your gorgeous weather up here – T-storms all week and overnight, 3 inches of rain… 51-63 F.
And for me, that’s the most important thing about him. My friends, family and I have spent countless hours knocking on doors, calling people on the phone and attending various community meetings. When Barack Obama talks about being an organizer, to me that means that he knows and respects people like me and my friends. We care about the world and have chosen to try to make as much difference as possible. Many of my friends do so professionally, and often at far lower salaries than they could easily make if they were even just a small bit more mercenary.
I contrast this with John Kerry, whose frame of reference for organizing work is a well attended brunch in the Hamptons. I’m sure that Kerry knows that a lot of people knocked on doors for him, but I doubt seriously he understands what our concerns are as people–the mix of earnest citizneship and pure financial need that moves someone to take a job knocking on doors that will only pay a pittance, but might stop an awful piece of legislation from passing at the state level.
But Barack Obama knows us and respects what we do. He knows that when he designs economic stimulus packages and green energy programs, that he can make a difference in how much of that benefit goes to people like me who have devoted our lives to trying to improve the world, and how much goes to the executives and major stockholders of American auto and oil companies who made the mess we’re in.
That’s a big difference.
Bullshit.
They only offer expensive entrée into the big money corporate/academic/governmental industrial complex.
All you need to know about THAT is pictured below.
The street? Butch would not have lasted 15 minutes in Obama’s community organizer gig. That’s an ironbound guarantee.
I SO hope that Obama’s not blowing smoke when he says these kinds of things.
And I further hope that what he says does not defeat him in November.
We shall soon see.
Later…
