Just quickly posting a new cafe before we head out to algebra class this morning…see you all when I get back!
Have a good day!
You too. Seems we really did miss everyone this morning, doesn’t it?
I know that no one is here right now, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to swing by tomorrow. I decided to fill part of my time for the next year with my own little blog. Here it is http://tunneltraveller.blogspot.com/
Stop by and visit.
Great idea, Toni! I’m sure the inspiration will come to you each day. Good luck! 🙂
Thanks SN. I hope you get some sleep. I’m sure my blog will help you feel drowsy.
This will be fun watching you build up your blog. I go along with SN on this – great idea!
Now if we can get SN to start one. 🙂
You were the fist visitor FM!!!! Hey how do I set up a blog roll?
I will tackle pictures next week.
Toni give me a little time to pull down some code and I’ll email it to you.
Toni check you email.
Your e-mail never arrived. I figured out the blogroll thing.
Thanks.
That’s really cool!
I wanted to post a comment, but it wouldn’t let me…for some reason blogger hates me and wants me to be anonymous. I’ll come over and read anyway though. 🙂
That’s not fair! Try again.
Another no sleep night. Andi I forgot your letters for it. This time it wasn’t FMom keeping me up. Well she sort of started it. She woke me up saying she heard something knocking in the house. This happened twice and I tell her it’s nothing. Just about when I get back to sleep I hear something crash like glass breaking. I jump out of bed and look inside and outside the house. Still nothing. Needless to say by this time I’m fully awake and there’s no going back to bed. FMom is now scared and me being the fearless person I am, I’ve now got my heavy Maglite I’m carrying with me anytime I leave my room. I’m going to check the attic in the morning, but I’m not going up there during the night. Nope might be monsters up there. 🙂
Ooh, sounds like maybe a critter in the attic? No sleep night for me too, FM. And headache night. Gonna try to get back to sleep now. Good morning….and good night!
hope you’re now asleep without it
Hi SN.
If you’ve got a headache/migraine I really do hope you’re back asleep.
Yep I think it’s a critter too, but just encase I’ll wait until daylight to check it out. 🙂
I hope you get to feeling better.
I hope you’ve joined Second Nature in sleeping it off.
Sound like a critter in the attic — we had that happen when I was a kid; several birds got in the vent and then couldn’t get out.
* yet another sleepless night
Hi Andi and thanks.
Nope I’m wide awake. Just got through cooking breakfast. I’ll remember YASN now. Unless we get back into routines, I’ll be using that a lot.
I hope you don’t use it for such a long time, you forget it entirely.
You all ready for the family invasion?
I’m hoping the same thing.
They were supposed to be here a couple of days ago. With this brother and sil, you never know just exactly when they’ll show up, or if they’ll show up. So I take each additional quiet day as a gift from the FSM.
Hey, maybe they forgot the whole thing and sitting around going “hmm, seems like there’s something we forgot”.
I should be so lucky. 🙂
They call FMom at least 2-3 times a day and they keep her updated on when they’re going to get here. The thing about it is they never get here when they say they are. So I tell FMom to take what they say with a grain of salt.
Okay, then we can imagine them wandering around in circles always missing the turn to your place and never arriving.
I can live with that. 🙂
Did you see where Toni has set up her own blog?
No I missed that. I just went and searched for her comments and got the link.
Now Giddy is pointing out I’m missing her hints about what time it is. So I guess I’ll get the link between her pacing around and going for a walk.
Hope you get a nap in soon. See ya later.
Yet Another Wakeful Night = YAWN
Good one Jim…I like that! 🙂
I agree with SN Jim, that is a good one. 🙂
My mom’s house used to have possum problems. Their little fingers can get in everywhere and did. I heard some crashing and banging one night and flipped on the outside lights and there was this gaggle of them, all standing on their hindlegs (each about 40# !!!) rocking and rolling the garbage cans to get into them. They slid windows open and got into the attic, all in all makes one a little jittery. Hope yours are critter problems and not the human kind.
Hiya mainsailset.
Possums were the first thing that came to mind last night. I used to leave cat food out in the carport all night for Tom (our outside cat). I’ve gone out into the carport more than a couple of times and ran up on a possum. I’m sure it’s a critter problem, but I’ve got to find where it’s getting in at.
Andi and FM…SN, I hope you’re sleeping now.
I can’t believe it’s already Thursday. Almost a whole week of summer algebra down, 4 to go. Which also means it’s 4 weeks until beach time!
It looks like i’s going to rain here today.
in the ether.
I’m just on my way out for a walk.
Morning and ta.
Morning CG.
This week has seemed to go by pretty fast. Those 4 weeks of algebra will fly by in no time and instead of wanting to go to the beach, you’ll want more algebra. 🙂
We’re supposed to get rain today and tomorrow. Now that we’ve got someone doing the lawn, I’m all for it. Let that grass grow, I don’t care. :O
Hmmm…the algebra class is nice in that it gives us a little structure to our day and gets us up and out early, but I won’t miss using the gas to get there and back when it’s over.
I think my lawn mower is on strike this week. Might have to go to my second string lawn mower dude (aka CBtY). 🙂
Before I asked CBtY to do the lawn, I’d let him know that he’s the first string lawn mower dude and the bestest lawn mower dude around. Never hurts to give their ego a little boost before you tell them they’ve got to mow the yard. 🙂
Speaking of cars and gas. My car wouldn’t start yesterday and it might be the battery. I put it to charging last night and this morning there was nothing but a click when I tried to start it. So I’ve got to go and take the battery out of the car, and then to an auto parts store to see if the battery is OK. I’m sort of hoping the battery is the problem, because if it isn’t then I’ve probably got a bigger problem then replacing the battery.
I guess I should go and start getting the battery out of the car. Everyone have a good day.
But of course I’d butter him up first. 🙂
Bummer about the car battery….I hope it’s the battery and not the alternator.
Hey, did I mention that my car smells okay now? I am soooo happy about that, even if it took away my excuse for getting that little Vespa scooter.
I guess that activated charcoal did the trick. I’ll have to remember that. I think you should get the Vespa anyway.
But that’ll cut into slacking time. 😉
The FSM and the gods of slacking were watching out for me. It ends up where I didn’t clean off the battery terminals and connectors well enough last night. I thought I would give them another cleaning and see what happens. This time it worked. No need to take out the battery or anything. 🙂
Praised be the gods of slacking!
good news!
Morning all.

Good morning Andi.
This week and this month seems to be flying by.
How’re you doing this morning? Have you finally gotten back into the grind?
I was hoping I wouldn’t see you till later. Was it YAWN?
Yeah, I’m settled back in and everything is back to normal … including our seemingly regularly scheduled power outages (2 yesterday).
Nope I did get some sleep last night, but I just woke up very early.
I think that would drive me crazy to have the power go out that much. It’s far and few between that ours goes out.
I just got through eating breakfast, and now I’m sleepy again. I think a nap is in order.
See ya.
Good morning Andi! Today is our first official day of summer vacation – my hubby finished school yesterday. He still has a little straightening to do in his old classroom – but it is tolerable.
What’s new?
My son’s last day of school was also yesterday. Summer camp starts next week. How time flies.
Is it a summer camp with a theme or an old-fashioned camp?
Just an old fashioned camp. Swimming, ballgames, etc.
You’ve got a leave of absence, right?
Yup! For the next year, I’ll be doing the stay-at-home mom thing.
Hi Toni — she says belatedly.
Wow, that’s really late — Jim’s been done for a month.
Nothing new here.
The storm timed itself so the worst of it was right at the start and then almost at end of Dr Who and killed the Directv reception so I missed the first 13 minutes and the five minutes before the last five minutes. And this was the 2nd of a two-part story arc.
Grumpy Saturday to all.
I’ll second the grumpy Saturday. As well as Sleepy and Dopey.
Yeah, me too. Mrs. Dem’s car has a droopy headliner that has to be reglued and then I’m going in to work to try & catch up some more backlog while its quiet. Maybe the contact cement from Mrs. Dem’s headliner will take the edge off.
No Sleepy (yet) but Dopey is always around.
Good morning, Andi, SN and ID!
Finally back online. Laptop took on a life of it own last night. Freezing up all the time, then when all that was done, it would only recognize local internet access – no web.
Eventually had to do System Restore and now all seems well.
It looks nice outside now, but hot and humid expected.
Good morning ask! Our electronic toys can certainly be annoying at times! Mrs. Dem’s work network server began locking up recently and it turned out to be the external drive I’d installed to make backups. Simple solution, but it took me a couple of weeks to realize what the cause was.
Hi ID,
the problems started after downloading some anti virus and spyware software (recommended by a site I trust); I guess the registry is a big mess after many downloads (and uninstalls); young asklet tends to check out lots of games when he’s here.
The worst incident I was involved with was at a not-for-profit organization where a couple of the volunteers amused themselves at an online gambling site. The trash that came down was nearly impossible to get rid of, including a particularly annoying browser hijacker. The organization eventually wound up scrapping the computer entirely.
Good morning everyone.
It seems I’m not the only one having computer/network problems. For some reason this morning my wireless went completely out on me. It just now started working again.
I hope everyone is having the start of a good w/e.
Hi FM!
Very annoying when it happens, lots of time wasted (at least for a ‘PC dummy’ like myself).
Young asklet just came over (easy, now that he lives just a 10-min walk from me) and we’ll hang out being lazy this pm.
No better way to wile away the day than to spend it being lazy.
Yep it annoying to me when something happens to my computer. As someone told me one time, I know just enough about computers to be dangerous. Usually when I try to fix a problem with the computer, I usually end up making it worse.
Enjoy you day.
..I usually end up making it worse.
Happens to me all the time…
Have a good one yourself.
YASN OR YAWN. Which ever one you pick they’re both the same thing. No sleeping tonight.
We had a nice little thunderstorm that came through yesterday afternoon. George tickled me during the storm. I’ve told ya’ll how he hates to get wet and even if there’s dew on the grass he’ll hold it and wait to go out until it dry. During the storm he let me know he needed to go out. I figured I’d take him to the door, he’d see the rain and turn right around. He must had really needed to go. He went straight to the middle of the lawn to do his bidness. It was pouring down rain with thunder and lighting. Like I said he must have really had to go.
So how is everyone’s weekend going? I might be awake when someone comments or I might not be. You’ll have to wait and see. 🙂
I had a crappy night’s sleep. I kept having unpleasant dreams and waking up. Not as bad as not sleeping but not very restful either.
Morning Andi.
I sorry you had such a bad night. A long time ago I gave up on tossing and turning, and when I knew I wasn’t going to get any sleep, I just get up and keep working around the house. I’m just about done with washing and waxing the kitchen floor. :O
Sorry you aren’t napping.
It wasn’t quite tossing and turning — I went back to sleep each time.
I’ve never waxed a floor and I’m not about to start now, good night’s sleep or not. 🙂
Whenever I’m having unpleasant dreams I’m really hesitant sometimes about going right back to sleep. I’m always afraid I’ll get right back into the same dream.
Ahhhh, waxing floors isn’t so bad. I figure the more work/energy I expend, the sooner I’ll be tired enough to sleep. Wax on – Wax off. 🙂
I did continue the dream a couple of times … which is pretty unusual for me. But I still ended up with more sleep than not-sleep.
I’ve had some pretty bad nightmares before where I wouldn’t let myself go back to sleep because I was afraid I would get back into the same nightmare. The funny thing for me is if I start having nightmares I don’t just have one and then maybe another in a few months. It’s like after the first one they will go on for a week or more and then I don’t have any for months. Go figure.
Good morning, FM and Andi!
Sorry about the bad night, FM – I had several this week, but got 7+ hrs last night. Wonderful.
I’ve found the older I get a few no sleep nights every couple of weeks always pop up. I’m glad to hear you had a good night.
How has you weekend been going?
Lazy yesterday (as pointed out above). swimmer called in from Greece, apparently, the young ladies are having a ball. A bit of club life, but also culture and sightseeing. They saw Berlin Philharmonic/Beethoven’s 9th while in Berlin, visited Homer’s grave on Friday and get around quite a bit.
Any exciting Big Apple plans for today?
Ha – exiting indeed!
curly got some new shelving/rods for a closet which yours truly will install today.
It could still be a big apple activity if curly gives you one as a reward when you are done. 🙂
There better be rewards…
What’s going on in the forest today?
Nothing much. We’ve had some storms but today the chance is only 40%.

Great image!
Could be a movie poster for a really sinister plot.
Thanks, Ask. I was just noticing that it’s really grainy (I had to use a high iso because it was so dark) — I probably should have messed with it more.
That’s beautiful. Dark, brooding skies are my favorite. I’m hoping for some rain today and maybe a break from the heat.
I love watching storms. It was thundering and lightning when I took this but the rain hadn’t started so I stayed outside till it did.
I like storms too, except when we get them almost everyday of the week. It’s hard to make plans to go places that are outdoors.
Sorry about the storms. Hope you have better weather today.
Bye Toni — I’m off to walk.
George is letting me know he needs to go out.
Back later.
Another sunny day here in, uhm, paradise…nice and humid too. It’s like a free sauna!
I’m trying to remind myself that it’s perfect yoga weather, but I really don’t like the humidity.
Andi, I agree with SN, that’s a great picture.
FM, I’m sorry you’ve had sucha losy week of sleep. Here’s hoping tonight will be restful.
Ask, it sounds like swimmer is having a great time, and you have a busy afternoon ahead of you.
And hi to anyone who might have snuck in while I was posting this.
You get your own Bikram hot yoga session for free!
Things, um, exciting at your place?
Yeah, but I’m not a fan of Bikram…I have to quickly drink a lot of water this morning so my blood pressure won’t bottom out during class. Ick.
Um, yep: exciting in a wannabe-Spiderman climbs the walls kind of way. 😉
I think the best part was when walked up to the officer while he was still getting all the kids names and before we even got a phone call. Luckily he wasn’t one of those prick-y cops, and he had snuck up on them and knew they hadn’t been doing anything other than sitting there talking. Dorks.
I think my car needs hand-detailing today by one of the offenders, don’t you? And then we can move on to powerwashing the patio.
Yeah, I was thinking of the spidey thing too, and knowing that young men can be stupid but still not have evil intent. 🙂
Car stuff is fun though…maybe the bathroom floors need to be toothbrushed…
Yep. And none of them had any evil intent (although the girl who was so pissed off she got caught that she wouldn’t even sit with them while the cop got all their information left me totally unimpressed – what kind of friend does that?).
Now, about that toothbrushing thing… 🙂
Hi CG and thanks.
The humidity dropped here yesterday afternoon and it’s cooled off some so maybe some relief is heading your way.
By all means, send us your cool weather!
An big plans this morning?
Not cool, just cooler (upper 70s/low 80s).
Big plans right this moment — go for walk.
Ta.
Popping in to say hi and bye to everyone I missed this morning. I think it’s nap time.
Everyone enjoy your Sunday.
