Hebrew poster: “Ahmad Moussa, 1998-2008”
When a 10 year old Palestinian boy, Ahmad Moussa, was shot dead by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank a few days ago, it stirred protests in Israel by one of its most prominent and oldest peace organizations, Gush Shalom. That protest took place before the residence of Israel’s Minister of Defense, Ehud Barak. Here is their later write up and photos of the protest.
“Ehud Barak, Minister of Defense, How many children have you murdered until now?” This cry echoed Wednesday (July 30) under the windows of Barak’s apartment, high up in the Akirov Towers in Tel Aviv.
Members of the Special Police Squad defend the home of the Minister24 hours after a soldier had killed with live ammunition from a short distance the 10 year old boy Ahmad Moussa during a protest demonstration at Na’ilin village in the West Bank, more than 150 demonstrators came to the private apartment of the Minister of Defense to voice their protest under his windows.
The protesters arrive at the minister’s home, Special Police stop themThe protesters – activists of Gush Shalom, Anarchists Against the Wall and others, arrived at the place after marching through the streets of Tel Aviv from Arlosoroff Station to Pinkas Street, headed by drummers.
The police send its forces well in advance, blocked the building and set up barricades. They did not rely on ordinary policemen and sent its elite commando force, which pushed and dragged the protesters from the first moment with utter rudeness.
“Hast thou robbed and also murdered?”The demonstrators carried signs which said: “Goliath killed David”, “Soldier, refuse to take part in war crimes”, “Security cannot be built on the bodies of children”, “Hast thou robbed and also murdered?” (An allusion to the well-known Biblical admonition of the prophet Elijah to King Ahab: “Hast thou killed and also taken possession?” Many carried a simple poster with the picture of the boy and the inscription: “Ahmad Moussa, 1998-2008”
The next day, Haaretz published an ad: “Gush Shalom mourns the death of the 10 year old boy Ahmad Moussa who was murdered during the protest against the Separation Fence”.
Reproduced by permission of Gush Shalom.
Here is to Gush Shalom make Barak look at Ahmad Moussa’s picture everyday. Make him see that childs face in his dreams and nightmares. Then maybe one day he and Israel will wake up.
ARREST
This always happens when a child killing gets too much publicity. “House arrest?” If all goes to plan, when the airwaves quiet down, he will get a slap on the wrist.
What other murders have been arrested since 2000 for the hundreds of murders of Palestinian children? Don’t waste your time or memory.
Yeah its not much Israeli and U.S. troops are never punished. I was just excited to see that anything at all was done. We know Israel isn’t beacon for human rights. The soldier will never go to trial. Keep documenting their crimes Shergald. One day the world will turn. I still have hope but I’m not living under a brutal occupation.
the most grievous – when you think Israeli authorities can’t go any lower in the depth of human depravity –

– The [PHR] Physicians for Human Rights Israel claims in a damning report today:
All descriptor words in the English language fail.
Where is the outrage !!!?-
recognizing that descendants of the Nazi oppressed have become the oppressors.
Who’d have thought ..you’d read stuff like this only in the Final Solution manual? There was silence then, and silence now because the few who speak up are given a deaf ear.
Where is Tony Blair?
Most people have forgotten Blair and who knows where he is?
Is anyone surprised by this report, otherwise?
Come on, Shergald! Ehud Barak made it OK by pointing out that “the boy’s death was an isolated event ‘that we deeply regret.’” That should be enough for you! Give poor old Ehud a break. I mean, those damned Palestinian kids are ALWAYS getting in the way of Israeli bullets. Israelis NEVER would shoot or otherwise harm a Palestinian child if only Palestinian children would stop putting their heads in the way of their bullets.
The regret here is really that news of this child’s killing got into the press and blogosphere.
The hundreds of other children killed since 2000 did get their 15 minutes of fame and “regrets” from the Israeli government. Israelis do not intentionally shoot children, we are told. Too bad I am short of time this morning to get up the links to show what rubbish that notion is.
And here’s a link to DATA on this point:
