I wonder how the PUMAS for PALIN movement is doing.

Is that really the cover of the latest issue? Can’t get more whitebread and middle american than US. Well, maybe People.
As everyone grabs their groceries this week, they’ll have a fine introduction.
*IMAGE OF WORLD’S BIGGEST SMILE*
But everyone knows that US is only for coverage of PR trainwrecks or redemptions. Which is inside is the surprise.
Is that a real People magazine cover or photoshop?
It’s running at the top of Halperin’s The Page.
OMG! Mulder’s a sex addict!
astonishing!
sex addiction = excuse for abysmal behavior.
But, at least this information could have been revealed when I was still single and of course had a shot.
ohh Hallie Berry..
if that cover is real, that is fantastic.
The kind of cover where McCain looks at Obama, throws up his hands and says “you sunk my battleship!”
I’d have to think that effort will soon be aborted…
Serious question in response to your serious question:
Is this really that harmful to the McCain/Palin ticket getting elected?
I’m not seeing it myself, but I suppose it might be.
Palin’s 2006 opponent on the subject of Palin.
Go to US Weekly, scroll down to the bottom of the page, take the poll, and check the results.
Should Sarah Palin step down as the Republican vice presidential candidate?
Yes
No

This woman is a national treasure.
Christmas came four months early this year
That’s on par with Hillary’s Tuzla story, no?
I think the more the Palin issue swirls in the realms of the tabloidosphere the more likely it is to have negative blowback on the Democrats. All it will take for this to degenerate into something that becomes radioactive for Democrats is for copious amounts of the truth to get blended in with miniscule portions of untruths. Then everything will become contaminated and nothing that is actually factual will be looked on with any validity. Think Rather-Gate and the Bush service records. Obama/Biden will be forced to distance themselves greatly from any criticism of Palin. Every question surrounding her is then quickly dispatched far down the memory hole. The narrative is then steered back toward the “sexism” and “anti-female” aspect of the Obama campaign that has once again being evidenced by the smears and innuendo of the Democrats and all the hateful, liberal bloggers who are at Obama’s beck and call to smear this honorable public servant.
Let’s hope they pull this magazine. In the big scheme of things the Democrat’s message is not well served by things such as this. We’ve seen this movie before. We know how it ends. Let not reprise our roles.
Oh..my..god…do you have the worst case of battered spouse syndrome I have ever seen?
It’s excellent news for John McCain that his pick is a laughing stock before she can even accept the nomination…mocked in grocery aisles all across the country.
Please.
Pretty, please.
This is not good news for John McCain and it will not backfire.
For once you and I are in 100% agreement.
I voted in the “US” poll. I think she should stay. Ple3ase please please, stay Sarah.
.
Never refuse a gift and I want to spare the (Polar) Bears more disaster.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
When did US mag become an arm of the DNC? Palin and Obama will be all over the scandal mags, the comedy venues, and the gossip shows. This has nothing to do with the Democrats. Obama and Biden are handling it professionally, unlike McCain.
As long as Dems remember that this is about McCain, not about Palin, all will be well. Have yourself some hot milk or something.
This is a point I made in another thread somewhere here today. And yes, it might all work out, McCain will be crushed by it and the Dems will come out unscathed. But when it gets to a fever pitch like we are seeing, kickbacks can be sudden and unexpected. It has the potential to turn on you if you’re not careful. That’s all I’m saying.
BTW, Thanks for the suggestion. I just ran to Wendy’s and got me a Frosty. Soothes me better than the hot milk. Thanks. 🙂
you’re overlooking something- this is nothing like Rathergate, etc. people are very aware that the VP potentially would be making decisions with life or death consequences for all of us. How she treats her children seems to have instantly cut through a lot of obfuscation: that either she endangered the life of her baby by flying to Alaska when she should have gone right to the hospital/ or she coerced-convinced her daughter to give up her baby and pretend it is her brother – cruel if you ask me. Saw heartbreaking pictures yesterday of the bf’s sister and Bristol lovingly holding Trig from bf’s sister’s myspace. couldn’t find them today – yet; will link if I find them. anyway, my point is Sarah P’s actions show a lack of empathy that hits home for a lot of people, and not untypical of the extreme right wing “christians” in matters that don’t agree with their ideology.
but screen-captures of them are still floating around the net.
I think she’s an ass, basically, but she doesn’t deserve to have her life splattered across covers like the one Us mag did. People have a right to be as flaky and weird as they want to be, and the culture is all the richer for them. But as folks as diverse as Eagleton, Giuliani, Hart, and Craig discovered, less-than-perfect images pretty much guarantee that any attempt at high political office will end in a bloodbath.
McCain will try to make Palin’s travails the fault of Obama and the “liberals”, but in fact he’s the one who put Palin in the line of fire. McCain has a whole army of smearmeisters and swiftboaters at the top level of his campaign. Any one of them could have explained to him what would happen if he shoved this fledgling political wannabe from Alaska into the DC meatgrinder. But he didn’t care. He had decided she was his “soul mate”, and he was gonna get her, for whatever reasons. So what was she going to do when a presidential candidate she’s barely met calls up and asks her to run as vice president of the United States? It’s like some kind of movie. She’s ambitious and this is beyond her wildest dreams. She’s made it through the quagmire of Alaskan politics, so she figures, how different can it be? If there was a problem John would know about it and pick somebody else, or at least take care of it, so sure I’m gonna grab the gold ring.
Now the gold ring morphs into a poisoned pen as the late-night comics, the scandal mags, and the professional gossips turn her life, and her family’s, into an intrusive nightmare circus. The big media story is that John McCain endangered his own electoral chances with this loopy, capricious decision. But let’s not forget the little story that’s overlooked: for no sane reason, John McCain seduced a trusting woman and her family into a chaos of personal and political ruin.
This is the judgment and character America can expect from President McCain. More of the same indeed.
All she had to decline the VP slot. She would be in Alaska now helping it become another country.
Whatever happen to taking responsibility for your decisions. She made those decisions, no “liberal” did that for her. but seeing how Republicans don’t grow up until their 40..i’m sure their just a “youthful” mistake.
Anyway she was put on the ticket for the “Regis & Kathy Lee” effect..to make old man McCain look vibrant, energetic and younger. “Mission Accomplished”-
“Mission Ineffective” on having a VP of substance and values.
It was McCain’s responsibility to check her background and let his henchmen scope out the consequences of picking her. He didn’t do his primary duty, and the result is bad for the country and bad for Palin. His indifference to what happens to her is just a mini-picture of this indifference to what happens to America.
This is hilarious.
who cares if its bad for Palin, she made a decision to be VP take responsibility and live with it. It’s not bad for the country, its bad for McCain.
No crocodile tears here.
An inadequate black man bringing a knife to a gun fight. Now it’s his evil online proxies going at poor defenseless Sarah with a chainsaw. <<shakes fist in rage>> KOS you BASTARD!!!!
yeah..i’m waiting for Palin to cry…about her problems
maybe she and Alito’s wife can share some tears. bad democrats. bad blogosphere. bad, bad, bad.
doesn’t have the skill. It takes a natural affinity and lots of work to do it effectively. Maybe after 4-6 years working the hustings she could pick it up and do the Clinton Crocodile tear. I don’t see her ever having that kind of magic.
Her inability to work the press and generate empathy is a campaign back breaker.
Us does work fast. Next up: photos of her cellulite.
The Heartbreak of Her Cellulite.
