Vote starting now on C-SPAN.
And by ‘now’ I mean ‘soon’.
They aren’t really keeping the CSPAN graphic up to date. Dodd voted yes, Feingold voted no. They are like 1/3 of the way through but the graphic reads Y=13, N=4.
Well, it is obvious this thing is going to pass the Senate. We’ll see how it does in the House.
It passed 74-25 (or 75-24, I was in the kitchen).
Not sure who didn’t vote.
Kennedy?
You win!
So the bill that most likely won’t solve the problem now has an extra $110 trillion in various pork bullshit stuffed into it, meaning that House conservatives are even less likely to vote for it, as well as pissing off the Bush Dogs (who voted for the bill in a 3-2 margin).
Look, some real legislation to solve the problem and regulation to prevent it from happening again must be passed, instead we get a mountain of garbage with chocolate syrup on it and a shovel.
This is even worse legislation than it was Monday.
Krugman was on Countdown tonight and he said the same thing. Better then Paulson’s plan(heh) but worse then Monday. He still wants it passed and then pass some sort of partial nationalization of the banking system in January or February. Hopefully with Obama and a more progressive congress.
Roll call vote is up.
