And a few bombs going off inside the Green Zone to celebrate Deputy Secretary of State John “Death Squads R US” Negroponte’s visit to Baghdad is just more proof that victory is just around the corner:

Two blasts have occurred near Baghdad’s Green Zone outside Iraq’s foreign ministry, as John Negroponte, the US deputy secretary of state, was preparing to hold a press conference about his visit to Iraq.

At least one person was killed and five others were wounded in the blasts, the police said. […]

Washington and Baghdad have been in intense negotiations on a new agreement to allow US forces to remain in the country after a United Nations mandate expires at the end of this year.

Probably just a negotiating ploy by the Maliki government. You know how Arabs like to play hard ball. Maybe John McCain could suspend his campaign again to go over there and crack a few heads together to get this deal done. Just like he helped save the Glorious $700 Billion Dollar Bailout Rescue plan a couple of weeks ago. Besides it would give him an excuse to miss the debate a chance to show his Special Leadership Powers to the American People once more.
