Normally, I’m not a big fan of privatizing government functions, but maybe the Bush administration should outsource all public pronouncements about the economic crisis until the next President takes office, because I don’t think it helps the situation any when they do talk about it. Like this completely idiotic (and unnecessary) statement by Dana Perino, for example:

But even after the bailout money starts flowing “we make no guarantees about what’s going to happen in the stock market going forward,” said Perino.

And asked what other steps the United States could take with its allies, Perino replied: “I don’t have anything new to announce to you. We’re trying to implement the program that we have.”

Sometimes Dana, silence is golden.
