How could it be here so soon?

Approximately 36 hours till the polls begin to close…

… for which I will be eternally (or at least till 2010) grateful. I hate elections or more precisely, electioneering.

I’m ready for this to be over too.  It’s been a long 4 years of waiting to get rid of Bushy-boy.

        And I’m tired of having McCain-induced Tourette’s syndrome.  😉

Are you already off for your walk?

      Was it Cloris Leachman?  🙂

      • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on November 3, 2008 at 8:38 am

Heh.  Very funny, but she was much cuter than cloris.

CBtE just called me to tell me that 4 kids are getting expelled from his school today.

Two of them are getting expelled because they posted a video on the internet, of one of the boys saying he’d like to knock out the cute young blond teacher and rape her.  WTF?  They can’t send that kid home soon enough, if you ask me.

Were people always this creepy, and it’s just youtube that made us all aware of it?

        • Second Nature
Second Nature on November 3, 2008 at 8:47 am

God, that is horrible.  I often wonder if we are getting more violent or if we’re just aware of it because of stuff like youtube and 24 hour news.  I feel like Tipper Gore when I say this, but I think that kids get numbed to all of the violence and misogyny in video games and movies and songs. I just do.  You see it a couple thousand times and it just loses its shock value.

          • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on November 3, 2008 at 9:04 am

The kid who said it was on CB’s cross country team, and was one of those loudmouth class clown type kids, but he also gave CB a hard time at the beginning of the year.  The fillmmaker is history too, btw.

I think we’re more aware of the awful stuff  because of youtube (and the fact that people seem awfully willing to be caught saying horrendous stuff on video than I would have ever expected: look at the McC-P rallies), but numbness definitely plays a role.  Way back when in college, the dean of my “school” used o go off on how numbed we become to violence and suffering because we always see it on teevee, followed by commercials for Burger King whoppers or Walmart shopping.

          • AndiF
AndiF on November 3, 2008 at 9:40 am

I think the problem isn’t so much that they get numbed but that they so rarely see anything else that it’s easy for them to get the idea that it’s all normal.

CabinGirl on November 4, 2008 at 6:20 am

I’m good…finishing a paper for work this morning before I’m free to go vote and do a little GOTV.

I’m wondering how my local turnout will compare to 2004 and thinking about taking my camera along to take a picture of the parking lot mayhem and line (if there is one).

        How about you?

          Yes do take pictures!

I’m doing good.  I’ve got to go back into the city today, and I’m hoping that will be the last trip for awhile.  After today it will be slacking for the rest of the week.

Family Man on November 4, 2008 at 6:55 am
