How will you know tomorrow if something isn’t right with this election? If by Midnight the election hasn’t already been called for Obama, and the pundits start talking about how the all the polls were off by 3,4,5 (whatever number is convenient) points.
No, my health isn’t good enough and I can’t leave my wife alone with my daughter because of her cognitive issues. But there are a lot of people working on it this year, a lot more more than in 2004. 2004 woke a lot of people up about our shoddy elections and voter suppression.
I’m ready to take back our country! No more trickle down! No more supplyside bullshit. Its about ideals and sound economics. We are a society dammit and now we will start to act like it again! The supplysiders can stay in their holes for another hundred years!
You know it’s a big day on the McCain campaign when Mark Salter is smiling.
The senior aide to John McCain, known for his gruff demeanor, was practically giddy this morning on the campaign plane. He was cracking jokes with reporters and describing an optimistic atmosphere surrounding McCain.
“We feel like we’ve been saying all week. We’re well within the margin or on top in all these battlegrounds,” Salter said. “We got a real good shot at catching the guy.”
The staff is “short on sleep but pretty jazzed,” Salter said. McCain was receiving only minimal updates from headquarters, channeled through the traveling entourage which includes campaign manager Rick Davis and senior aide Charlie Black.
Salter, the tempo of his voice increasing with each word, smiled as he described his own mood. “A little hard getting out of bed,” he said, quickly adding: “But eight cups of coffee and a half a pack of cigarettes later, I’m feeling pretty good myself.”
When asked how he was planning to get through the marathon seven-state day, Salter quipped: “Crystal meth. Me, personally, that’s how I’m going to do it.”
With his signature light-wash jeans and aviator sunglasses, Salter perused the aisle of the campaign plane in the best spirits Washington Wire has seen in recent weeks. Salter, who pens McCain’s speeches and co-authored the candidate’s many books, has been by his side since the beginning of the campaign.
He’s probably just excited about his million-dollar tell-all book deal about campaigning with the real Sarah Palin, swinger hockey mom extraordinaire….
I just got the early/absentee voter counts and my precinct has already voted 29% of the total active voters registered. Countywide, the tally is 17%. My list will go to the GOTV callers tomorrow so they don’t waste time calling those who have already cast a ballot.
I’ll be at the polls all day, beginning at 5:30 a.m.
If there is one shocker on election night in the presidential race, cast your eyes to Georgia. 1,994,990 people voted early in Georgia. 3,301,875 total voted in Georgia’s presidential race in 2004.
Let that sink in.
…
African-American voting was 35%. 25% is the historic level. As for totals after election day comes and goes, Adelman said, “anything over 30% and we’re gonna win.”
and to combat the long lines and wait times, the obama ground troops have ” “Comfort Teams,” which are all volunteer forces who don’t campaign, but simply bring water, hot chocolate and snacks. “No campaigning, no materials,” Adelman said, just making sure the people who have to wait in long lines aren’t hungry or thirsty.”
a win there, in arizona, plus a couple others dropping and obama’s going to be closing in on the 400EV mark.

are you doing election protection again this year?

…WE’RE ON THE MOVE!
I love this song. Hope we’ll all be celebrating tomorrow night, even as bittersweet as it will be for President-elect Obama.
it’s now 7:12 PM ET
In less than five hours, we’ll have the first results – at midnight in Dixville Notch, N.H. Election Day voting begins.
I’m ready to take back our country! No more trickle down! No more supplyside bullshit. Its about ideals and sound economics. We are a society dammit and now we will start to act like it again! The supplysiders can stay in their holes for another hundred years!
I am so ready to start voting. Bring it on! 😉
Today in Florida didn’t go well for McCain –
Tampa McCain rally: Where is everybody? then CNN reports Gov. Charlie Crist bolted, reneging on promised interviews.
but why would a reporter on the McCain campaign plane report this? –
