Obama just won the Dixville Notch vote in NH. They have a tradition of opening their poll at Midnight for the town’s residents. 21 people cast their vote, representing 100% voter turnout, and 15 went to Obama, vs. 6 to McCain.
Oh, let this be a harbinger of the rest of the contests!!
A nearby town named Hart’s Location also saw a big win for Obama, with 17 votes cast for Obama, 10 for McCain, and 2 for Ron Paul.
Nader was on the ballot in both towns, but took no votes.
In Dixville Notch, the last time a Democrat won was 1968, the same year in which Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King were killed.
How fitting it is that, 40 years later, just as Bobby had predicted, that an African American man is poised to make history as our new President!

In the traditional midnight voting in the tiny N.H., Obama won a surprise landslide by 15 to 6 (Nader got no votes). The Obama supporters in the room let out a whoop. The GOP candidate usually wins easily — I don’t know if a Democrat has ever carried it — and Bush beat Kerry 19-7 after trouncing Gore in 2000. Bush’s dad topped Dukasis 34-3 and Reagan trounced Mondale 29-1.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Not very far from my neck-o-the-woods across VT state line.
Very unique. All registered voters turned out. And if you don’t, you get a call as to how come … do you need a lift …. we’ll send a car for you.
Nothing like participatory democracy in action. Gotta love snall town New England politics.
