soon, all these whiners will discover they’re yelling at their own pigs. Ever tried that?
I wouldn’t worry. It’s to be expected.
Meantime, on my tally sheet President-elect Obama is batting 100.
Josh Marshall leads us to the President-elect Obama’s transition website and sees something in the ‘organizational chart’ that’s ….
It’s a changed day.
No honeymoon at all? I coulda told you that.
Well, if Morning Joe is worked up into a lather and John Boehner is crying in his beer, then I can only conclude one thing.
Choosing Rahm must be a grand slam for the home team.
I would be much more concerned if they were pleased.
You know, I was barely awake when I heard Joe braying about the Emanuel pick. Truly, I’m thinking: WTF? It’s too damned early in the morning for this annoying scream-fest over nothing.
And then I turned of the teevee.
I think they are trying to find something to blather about. He’s not one of my favorites, but he works at the pleasure of the president. And he has skills that will serve the White House well, so they need to find something else to get in lather about.
Wow, that LTE is just f*cking scary.
Yikes.
Maybe they should think about moving to some other country. 🙂
I made the mistake of watching Morning Joe this a.m. for a few moments. Oy! This guy has feeble mind…he said the appointment of Emanuel meant that Obama was already breaking his promise to be bi-partisan.
Quickly shutting the TeeVee off, it occurred to me that this notion of bi-partisanship is vastly misunderstood. For pundits like Scarborough and Faux News, it means that Obama governs as a center-right president, paying homage to conservative principles that were rejected by a significant majority of the country.
While I don’t personally appreciate that Emanuel has been pissing on Howard for four years, I’m willing to concede that his role can be an effective one for the Obama administration. Emanuel is a political pragmatist who knows when and how to fight, and what is possible. Look for Obama to avoid the early mistakes made during the previous two Democratic administrations.
The true question of the day is will the Republican minority allow the country to be governed?
But I question what Emmanuel is fighting for. An attack dog like him can defend good or bad policies. He scares me. He’s the DLC watchdog on Obama, I fear. Not that Obama isn’t complicit in DLC ideology. . .
I have questions of my own, also. However, Obama has given me few reasons to second-guess. At least for now, my pitchfork will remain in the corner until needed.
Yes, his batting average has been pretty high so far. Even when there is something which, on the surface, elicits a WTF-is-he doing reaction, it seems like the reason for the decision eventually becomes apparent.
He has so far proven astute enough in his judgments. I won’t yet throw my lot in with the naysayers and grumpy opiners.
The true question of the day is will the Republican minority allow the country to be governed?
The idea of the President sending out a mass emailing asking supporters to flood Senate and House offices with calls besieging recalcitrant Senators and Congresspeople who are dragging their feet on progress gives me a smile.
What better way to put the “killer” ground game Obama and company have built to good use?
That change.gov website makes it clear that’s exactly what they have in mind.
I love it.
I think a thorough accounting of the Bush years will silence the Conservative Republicans for a generation. “Every tree we barked up, has a cat in it.”
