Obama is about to give his first press conference as President-Elect. I can’t believe I am excited about a press conference.

Breaking News Reuters:
Sen. Byrd says will resign appropriations panel chairmanship next year, but will remain in the Senate; says Sen. Inouye will be his replacement 2:27pm EST
Developing….
yep, musical chairs will ensue.
Rockefeller drops Intelligence for Commerce.
Feinstein drops Rules for Intelligence.
Schumer takes over Rules.
And then there’s the Foreign Relations committee. Could go to Kerry or Feingold.
Byrd should whisper in Lieberman’s ear…follow suit.
Please let it be Feingold!
Senator Byrd’s statement:
Youth prevails. Inouye is 84 compared to Byrd’s 90
Okay, so the first thing we’ve learned about the next president is that he has a tendency to be tardy.
Since it’s your conceit..
He’s only half-tardy.
is that like being half-pregnant?
The juvenile remark is “I don’t feel tardy”
Patience.
Maybe he had a late start, all with the daughters’ PTA conference this AM. and with over 17 persons around the table.
Actually, I doubt that. His campaign suggests otherwise. Who knows what was going on today. He had a long meeting with the economic advisers. Maybe it was substantive and not ceremonial. And they finished when they finished. Or their lunch was late. Or something.
EXCITED ABOUT A PRESSER?
You bet.
Waiting for President-elect Barack Obama
i wish someone would ask him about UFOs.
they must have briefed him by now
and lets ask him about DOMA
and where is helen thomas?
Even spooks aren’t briefed on UFOs, so why would they say anything to the pres?

darn
I thought he looked exhausted.
he looks very skinny and like he needs a good meal of mac and cheese and fried catfish and a nap.
as do i
but the makeup the other night was particularly good and he looked amazing.
i cant believe i notice shit like that
My husband remarked the same thing, and then said he’s going to look as gaunt and haggard as Abe Lincoln after eight years. I said he’d need a beard to resemble Abe.
any word about Traitor Joe, looks like he’s changing camps…

and albatros of their very own!
I was so excited I turned on the tv which is something I rarely do during the day. I loved how he deadpanned his reply on the dog question.
I thought he was great. He is SO head and shoulders above Bush! I had fogotten how very low the bar has been set these past eight years. Obama is quick, witty, coherent, and self-confident. Loved the “mutt” comment, loved that he asked the reporter what happened to her arm. So much better than Bush. SOOOO much!
I liked it. A bit serious and sober, yet not without humor. He fits the bill so well.
I had so given up on press conferences. They were painful to watch or to listen to. I knew that I was consistently being lied to, and it had gotten to the point where I couldn’t even stand the sound of Bush’s voice, kind of like nails on a blackboard, but without the thrilling spinal tingle.
I probably won’t be missing many press conferences, because I believe Obama when he calls for our help, and our feedback.
