As his Senate career nears its end, Republican Chuck Hagel isn’t holding back when it comes to criticizing members of his own party — including conservative talk radio hosts.
“We are educated by the great entertainers like Rush Limbaugh,” Hagel said Tuesday during a speech in Washington, according to the Huffington Post.
“You know, I wish Rush Limbaugh and others like that would run for office,” a sarcastic Hagel continued. “They have so much to contribute and so much leadership and they have an answer for everything. And they would be elected overwhelmingly. [The truth is] they try to rip everyone down and make fools of everybody but they don’t have any answers.”
Angling for a cabinet position or just feeling liberated?
A bit of both probably.
yes, I assume a bit of both.
l suspect he’s really happy to be a short timer. especially when you consider that the senate re-elected mitch mcconnel as minority leader, and the house RATs also saw fit to extend john boehner’s run as leader.
they’re so deep in de-nile that they need scuba gear.
It looks to me more like simple irritation with the yakking class than any specific challenge to Limbaugh’s POV. I have a feeling “the others” would include Olberman and Maddow and Tweety as much as anyone. Outside of international policy, Hagel still hasn’t articulated much of a gap between his ideas and Limbaugh’s.
No, he singled out Limbaugh for a reason. A seasoned politician like Hagel doesn’t do a thing like that by random.
He sees how dangerous an idiot like Limbaugh can be to a democracy.
I bet he wants Secretary of Defense. And there’s a good chance he’ll get it.
Good.
