I say ‘Nittany’, you say ‘Lion’. ‘Nittany’…

Sorry Boo, some of us are from SoCal. In fact I’m a USC alum.
That said, I think this will be a much tougher game for the Trojans than Michigan and Illinois of Rose Bowls past. And it’s great to be going up against JoPa and Derrick Williams. Game on.
good game so far.
I agree. Defense is key at this point. Too bad Penn State negated two great plays with dumb mistakes. They need to stop that.
38-24 final score.
USC is just almost unstoppable in these bowl games, unless you come with a team ala Texas 2005 that is just as dominant. Penn State never quit the way other Big Ten teams usually do, made the score respectable. I’m upset that USC started playing conservative, run-out-the-clock ball in the 4th quarter, basically stopped passing or even trying to score, but whatever. It’s not like we have any chance of being ranked AP #1, no matter what the final score is.
Good game. And let’s hope by this time next year, Obama has “convinced” the Div-1A teams to begin an 8-team playoff.
Well, I am thoroughly enjoying the beat down Iowa is putting on the other USC right now 🙂
I’m going all out for the Lions in the Rose Bowl. My significant other isn’t so optimistic and says USC will crush Penn State (and he’s a Big Ten fan, too).
Wisc., Northwestern and Minnesota were major disappointments. Last I saw Sparty was tied 3 – 3 with Georgia. Go Big Ten!
Sparty’s up 6-3 at the half.
My parents are life-long USC fans, so this game is special for them.
I grew up a Michigan fan, but have not a lot of sympathy for Penn State other than that I like their color scheme.
It’s on NBC, and they’re playing it outdoors — at Wrigley Field, no less. (I seem to have come in at the second period, but that’s OK.)
I used to commandeer the TV on New Years to watch the bowl games, but of late I haven’t been paying much attention to college ball. Then again I haven’t been paying much attention to hockey, either. I keep hoping someone will decide there’s a good opportunity in the Seattle/Tacoma area for NHL hockey, but so far it ain’t happening, and I’m not sure it will. I have to wonder if the Canucks would object, but then Seattlelites don’t seem to follow the Canucks in the same way that, say, Jays fans come down from Vancouver to Safeco Field to watch the Blue Jays when they’re in town.
I/P Debate to go on here without banning people and shutting it down.
I guess it says something about BooMan that it never even occurred to me that he would consider banning anyone or shutting down the debate, therefore it never occurred to me that thanks were due.
It still does not occur to me that thanks are due, so I won’t offer any. :o}
Finally a good looking Penn State team. I remember when Penn State joined the Big Ten about 15 years ago, and all the confident Lion fans boasted about how they could win it every year, that the Big Ten was a joke. Turns out to be a tougher league than they thought. Winning it 3 times in 15 years is not the performance expected back then.
Being a Cal/Stanford fan (either/or, whoever’s having the better season) New Year’s Day is the only time I get to root for USC.
