Talk to the hand isn’t exactly a denial that Bush will pull some last minute pardons out of his ass.

Monday? Yeah, maybe. I’m thinking Friday night.
Friday would normally be the logical point to bury it in the news cycle. But since Monday is the day before the inauguration, I could see it being equally buried then – perhaps moreso. And they wouldn’t be taking the chance that the Sunday shows would pick up on it that way (though I think the risk of that is minimal – the Sunday talking heads will want to be jabbering about the inauguration and don’t give a flying rat’s ass about W’s pardons).
Realistically, I expect that the pardons have already all been signed and are just waiting for an opportune moment in the news cycle to be delivered.
My $1.50 is Bush issues pardons after 7:00 p.m EST Sunday Night. Misses News cycle, or after NFL football and Obama will dominate the News.
Wouldn’t it be quaint if Bush issues the pardons, and then as a matter of “national security” will say that the details of the pardons cannot be made public. It would be right in line with everything else he has refused to reveal when it might be just a wee bit too “uncomfortable” to do so.
One final “Fuck You” to the rule of law. It would be the icing on the cake for the Bush reign or terror.
Make that reign “of” terror.
I’m not quite awake.
After Eric Holder’s statements yesterday, the Bushies are nervous. An incoming raft of pardons explains why Holder is basically getting a free pass. They can’t press too hard on the character issue of last minute pardons now, can they?
I’d put the pardon probability at 80% or so.
Bush would do himself a favor if he just made the list up of who he isn’t giving a pardon to.
I actually think it is possible that Bush has so much hubris and thinks of himself as so principled that he sees no need to pardon any of his band of criminals and doesn’t want to come close to the shameless pardons Clinton (and others) did on his last day in office.
