The crimes of the Bush administration varied from the petty to the extraordinarily grave and serious. I hope Chuck Schumer understands that and isn’t teasing us when he says he supports prosecuting Bush officials. We’ve all had enough of the Lucy & the Football routine. If you aren’t going to support prosecutions, just say so. And if you say you support them, then fucking demand them.

he didn’t say he supported them by any stretch of the imagination. his language was so carefully parsed with opaqueness as to be worthless, imo. to wit:
if any one believes schumer, or anyone else in the senate for that matter, will support the prosecution of anyone in the BushCo™ administration, l’ve got some ocean front property in western colorado you might be interested in as well.
total, unequivocal, bullshit.
* nic: chimpy or dick
Not gonna happen, bro.
Too many congressional Dems are complicit in Bush’s crimes. Too many of them know just how bad Bush was, and they let him do it anyway.
Too many of them risk going down with him.
I’m with Zandar.
Of course, if Holder decides to punch it through on his own, I won’t complain. The President did leave it up to him.
I’d like to believe Holder will do his job. He won’t.
If even a fraction of what Russell Tice says is true about the NSA wiretapping program, then Jello Jay, DiFi, and the rest of the Dems on the House and Senate Intel committees are guilty as sin when they signed off on it.
And that’s just for starters. Has anybody Obama issuing any Presidential directives or executive orders ending the illegal NSA program? No?
You think he’s going to end it? Not me.
The nasty, brutish incompetent stuff Bush did, like Gitmo? That’s one thing. But the nasty, brutish stuff that worked, like wiretapping America? Obama’s going to most likely hold on to that.
Too many people would be going down if Obama fought it. November 4 didn’t change some things at all.
holder’s not going to do shit, beyond writing sternly worded letters.
seen any action re: enforcing the outstanding subpoenas for miers, bolton, or rove? seen anything remotely resembling a contempt of congress citation and action to enforce it?
didn’t think so.
your first comment was right…not gonna happen…
seen any action from conyers, etal…
in Schumer’s shit?
Has President Obama evinced any balls on the prosecution issue?
Schoom started out by giving the old “we have to look forward” line. That tells you all you need to know. They will do nothing. They’re betting that other things (economic stimulus, green jobs, etc.) will command people’s attention, and that we’ll just resign ourselves to letting the Bush crimes go unpunished.
But with that forward looking line Schumer is just following Obama’s lead.
If you want to call it “leading”.
You may not see crime and punishment ala American style, but you will see a republic become an empire before your very eyes. Course, it may be a bankrupt empire for a while or at least until the crooks in DC learn how to apply nuclear blackmail upon other countries in the world. 2009 is going to be an unforgettable year, IMO.
“If you aren’t going to support prosecutions, just say so. And if you say you support them, then fucking demand them.”…I say AMEN!!!!!!!
‘Cuz it just can’t be said enough.
With Lyrics. NOT WORK SAFE.
Chuck Mukasky Schumer would piss in his pants at the very idea of prosecuting anyone from the Bush administration.
