According to Politico, Michael Steele has now closed down his blog because of the Rush controversy. I found a draft version of the blog still up, but unless you knew to look for it you would never see it. Whether it will come back full force is naybody’s guess, but the Republican National Committee seems to stay up in the air with fuzzy leadership.
The NY Times sums up Steele’s problem in his own words:

“I’m trying to move an elephant that’s become mired in its own muck,” Mr. Steele said in an interview last week in his sunlit Capitol Hill office, pausing whenever he appeared on the giant television close by his desk.

“You can say, `He’s crazy, he’s running off at the mouth,’ ” he said. “Or you can say, `It kind of makes sense, and I get it.’ “

It does make sense that the Elephant has mired itself in muck. I see ut every time John Boehner or Mitch McConnell is on television.
