It’s the time of the month when I have to pay for the rent, the server, etc., so if you’d like to see this place avoid bankruptcy maybe you could provide a little bailout money to the Frog Pond? I’d really appreciate it. Advertising revenue was the lowest ever this month. It doesn’t help to be a loudmouth contrarian, either.
Any little thing will be very appreciated.
Did you know that high-ranking government employees have the option of getting a ride to work? Neither did David Sirota. Even his own readers are snickering at that one.
Also, I hope Obama quickly explains to Netanyahu who gives the orders in this special relationship. Who is Bibi to lecture us about what we must do?
Perfect.
I donated what I could for now. More later. Thanks for all you do.
Josh Orton noticed this pointless gripe, too.
I came here specifically to slam Sirota for this complaint.
Talk about freakin trivial.
Since he endorsed the Geithner plan.
To his credit, Roubini did say that while the Geithner Plan would actually server to capitalize solvent banks, the insolvent ones would still require nationalization.
Of course, the stress tests to determine that are at this point useless, so determining which is which assures the plan will crash and burn anyhow.
he should pull a rickshaw to work, accepting passengers on his way, and donate the proceeds to the government. That would only be fair.
Netanyahu” “History teaches Jews that threats against their collective existence should be taken seriously, and, if possible, preempted, he suggested”
I agree. Which is why, as a liberal secular Jew, I take the “Pinchas and Zimri” threats by Israel’s insane superstitious religious nut rabbinate very seriously.
of note: the writer is warmongering jeffrey goldberg.
Gave what I could. Thanks for taking care of the pond.
WHO is Bibi? Indeed.
I keep asking why the U.S. keeps up these regular ten year “aid” packages for Israel; the latest being “passed” last August.. it’s not debated or voted on in Congress.. the federal gov’t just does it.
doesn’t matter how this looks to the Palestinians, the Arab street?
we’ll see how Obama handles his “orders”… it may just be posturing since Obama wants to talk with Iran.
.
in a casual meeting at the Afghanistan Conference in The Hague. Clinton spoke of her appreciation for the Iranian response.
≈ Cross-posted from my diary — New from our two fronts ≈
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
We may be the beneficiaries of what I suspect is a strong Clinton family grudge against both the Israelis and the Palestinians. The Clintons never forget when someone has been a giant pain in the ass to them.
Cool but al Khaimeni is already on record saying (to Obama) “where’s the change?” after Obama’s recent overture.
so yeah, they are looking at the never ending weapons/money support of Israel by the U.S.
if Obama thinks he’s getting anywhere with Iran by simply carrying on the macho-cowboy bush approach.. he’s got to be kidding.
Gave what I could. You and Al Giordano keep help me sane. Thanks.
Oh come on, what makes this relationship special is that it’s the tail that wags the dog.
And frankly, if Israel wants to do something really, really stupid, like attacking a country once we’ve begun talks with them, well, let them. It will give Israel’s American foes the cover they need to cut Israel loose. And it will be a pleasant change for Israel to pay the price for Israel’s stupidity and malice, instead of us.
Actually, there’s a better than even chance that an Israeli attack on Iran will almost immediately and totally destabilize Iraq and Afghanistan completely. Particularly Iraq, as Israel would have to fly over Iraq to reach Iran.
The nightmare scenario is that the attack destabilizes nuclear Pakistan as well, which would of course be an absolute disaster. India would immediately go on full alert, China and Russia would get involved, and that’s just for starters.
It doesn’t matter if we cut Israel loose after the fact or not. It will still turn the entire region into a powderkeg with nuclear weapons.
I have my doubts that the current administration would permit Israeli flights through US-controlled airspace. Nor is it like there isn’t precedent: Bush Sr. denied the Israelis overflight rights during Desert Storm.
The real danger is whether there are any neocon sleeper cells in the command chain who would keep the information of an Israeli attack in progress from reaching Petraeus (who is undoubtedly too pragmatic for such nonsense) and the president, hoping to present them with a fait accompli, which is one of the classic maneuvers of the neocon’s fascist mentors.
And in the end, there is no practical way for Israel to approach Iran without crossing airspace controlled by the US, NATO, or the Russians and their allies. I don’t think even Netanyahu is that stupid.
Look what you have started Boo,

One of the best parts of Twitter and Facebook is that you can block/unfriend assholes. If only life were that elegantly simple…
I love that you fight on my team.
I’ll send something, BooMan.
This is better than haloscan even when haloscan works, although you’d need a bigger pipe at Atrios.
i’ll send you something later this week.
Saw that on The Field as a description of Openleft/etc.
Too good!
Scott Murphy ahead by 65 votes with 100% counted, some 6,000 absentee ballots to count now, plus provisional ballots, in the NY-20 special election.
Since Tedisco was already using the Norm Coleman recount playbook a demanding that Murphy not be certified if he won the election, and filing this motion nine hours before the polls closed, I have to wonder just what the hell is going on up there. Tedisco anticipating a recount before the election was even over? That seem a bit Snidely Whiplash to you?
You wanted a reason to care about NY-20, BooMan? How about the GOP trying to steal yet another election?
your link to “ride to work” is bad: it goes to the BMT front page.
I’d help out financially, but I’m still blegging for a new rear wheel for my bike and a bag for my bass. Times are tight all over…
Oh My!!
I popped by an hour or two ago and added my 2 cents.
I love how her communications director slings libel accusations around.
