— Barack Obama
[I]mages of prisoner maltreatment at Abu Ghraib still serve as recruiting tools for al-Qaeda. [E]ach civilian casualty for which we are even remotely responsible sets back our efforts to gain the confidence of the Afghan people . . .
— Mike Mullen, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff
Yes, well, ‘even remotely responsible’ doesn’t square with U.S. shrapnel from a U.S. bomb dropped by the U.S. directly implanting itself in a child’s face 7000 miles away from the U.S. That said, here are the results of the May 4-5 U.S. bombardment and killing of at least 147 civilians in Farah, Afghanistan. Nothing has changed post-Bush, so now I bring you, because the mainstream media refuses to, Obama’s latest “recruiting tools for al-Queda”:
Humble graves in the impoverished villages of our enemies:
The economic backbone of our adversaries:
Note that the U.S. says only the following can be civilians:
These dudes, on the other hand, because they’re adult males, they just hafta be terrorists:
He’s got ‘that look’, doesn’t he?
The U.S. has also ordered its obedient Pakistan army to do similar to Pakistani civilians:
The Pakistani army’s assault against Islamic militants in Buner, in northwest Pakistan, is flattening villages, killing civilians and sending thousands of farmers and villagers fleeing from their homes
This is U.S. imperialism. Are you so frightened by the ‘Taliban gonna take over Pakistan!’ myth or so in Obama love that you’re okay with this? Is it worth it, as Madeleine Albright would say?

(TIME) – The bombing in Farah province is a case in point. Abdulkarim Sharifi, a resident of the province, says locals have already lost faith in the government because militants are visible “everywhere,” sometimes traveling in convoys of 10 to 15 vehicles in plain view of Afghan security forces who dare not leave their walled compounds. “They are so free to move around that some actually think the U.S. is helping them,” he said by phone. Roshan, the councilwoman, insists the U.S. forces have done just that by killing people they were sent to protect. “The Taliban are murderers, but when the U.S. is guilty, it’s a massacre,” she says. “If the situation goes on like this, the whole country will one day become Taliban.”

Death To The Invaders
Thousands of angry Afghans have taken to the streets in Farah in western Afghanistan to protest civilian deaths in U.S. airstrikes. The crowd chanted “death to America, death to the invaders.”
“We ask the Afghan government to force the American forces to leave Afghanistan,” said Haji Nangyalai. “They kill more civilians than Taliban.”

The Victims
More horrors from Afghanistan, where we should not be.
The first known civilian casualties of phosphorous use, which is illegal, are 8-year-old Razia and her family.
“The kids called out to me that I was burning…” said her father Aziz Rahman.
“And then my wife screamed ‘the kids are burning’ and she was also burning.”
