I doubt that I would name my child Barack (provided I ever have one) but you can be sure that there will be whole lot of kids named Barack in this upcoming generation.
When I was a kid, we had a rabbit and named it Hasenpfeffer.
If I lived whe his father came from, I might name a boy that name. Juan Cole had a segment once on what hisname means. There was a lot of ppl named after the heritage of which he comes. ie: Omar Bradley….
I had a rabbit name bugs once when I was a child…a v-e-r-y l-o-n-g time a go.
I think if I was a young mother-to-be, but had my 60-year old memory of the past 28 years of American politics, I would quite possibly name my baby boy Barack.
And, when my children were growing up we had three rabbits – Benny, Olive, Binky. Great pets: intelligent, incredibly clean, affectionate.
As much as I admire the President, I would not name my child Barack.
I have no clue on rabbit names.

This would be a comment on rabbits’ longevity.
I once had a rabbitry of French Angoras.
Rabbits average 5 to 15 years, depending on their size.

Current front runner names (boy bunny): Jambi (after the genie on PeeWee Herman) and Tokoloshe.
Of course, bun-bun works for me too.
(and Barack would not work well with my last name…)

I’d have no problem with the name Barack, if it fit.
However, I’d probably name my rabbit after a A) an actress famous for her roles in French New Wave films or B) a small fish.
No, I would not name MY child Barack.
But, there will be a lot of Baracks in the future. Bet on it.

Rabbits are prey animals, give him a brave name.
I thought Barack meant “great blessing,” sounds good to me. Maybe a bit much for a bunny to live up to.
