Apparently, Rahm Emanuel reamed out a few progressives, telling them their organization’s advertisements targeting ‘centrist’ Democrats like Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska were ‘fucking stupid.’ I suppose that’s one opinion, but it depends on whether or not the ads make those politicians more or less inclined to support a public option. Figuring out which result is more likely is difficult and depends highly on individual personalities, the likelihood of a plausible primary challenger, and the unique makeup of those states and districts.

My guess is that poking Ben Nelson with a stick is unhelpful, and thus quite possibly ‘fucking stupid.’ But I’m not sure about that. And I know that such ads can be helpful in other states and districts targeting different politicians.

Either way, I’ve had more than enough of Rahm’s bullying. He did a great job recruiting members to take back control of the House of Representatives, but he has to live with the Blue Dogs he created. Some of those seats could have been filled with better Democrats if Rahm had only been willing to give it a try.
