From Jim Schmiedeberg:
Memo to CBS and the NFL: There are a ton of former NY area residents living in South Florida. Just because the game is a blowout at halftime does not mean we’d rather watch the Steelers and Detroit freaking Lions. Thanks for making me have to dash out to this dive biker bar where I was the only one with a full set of teeth. The NFL owes me $3 for a crappy draft beer served through pipes that I believe were last cleaned during the Ford Administration.
Hey…he mentioned the Ford administration. It’s political.
How are those Phillies doing?
I have to disagree with that Schmiedeberg fellow. Watching the Giants put in their backup QB to manage the second half of a blowout versus the Raiders would not be good TV. Granted there weren’t a ton of great games going on, but I’m glad they showed us the Lions attempt to take down the Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals exciting comeback win.
I’d prefer a world where we could have access to all the games for free, the reality is that only a few games will get broadcast to the national audience. It’s up to CBS and Fox to try and provide some entertainment, rather than sticking with the beating of a dead horse (aka the Giants-Raiders game).
The Raiders getting beat bad is ALWAYS good TV.

Still, his description of his fan dedication is amusing, no?
Jim must love his Giants. I don’t believe he would have missed much if he stayed home. Well maybe the $3.00 beer. As it turned out the Lions managed to keep the Steelers within sight. Sorry Steeler fans, but I think this means your team has not put it back together yet. In my view, they are going to have to play much better than they have shown, if they want to make a playoff run again this year. keepinon (from the freakin Lions territory)
Someone else who thinks that it’s A-OK that the networks are trying to set up the stinking Giants as America’s Team. It’s bad enough that LA gets 15 Giants games a year. Do they have to show all of that debaucus against the Raiders, too?
