Yep, those baby birdies look exceptionally cosy – especially since our temps dropped again yesterday and I’m back to being a rugged up (“rugged-up” is Australian for being wrapped in a blanket or wearing lots of layers).
It’s also my niece’s (the Sweet Revenge one) birthday today so you should go in and tell her that in honor of your shared birthday she should obviously give you a free birthday cupcake. 🙂
Darn! I missed it entirely. Hope you had a good day ask and Happy Birthday to all you other Scorpios, a group where #1 son & #3 grandson reside as well.
Oh, it is rather gray there, isn’t it? AM temps here have been quite close to yours of late, but no snow yet. I hear there’s to be a short (and welcome) warm-up for our weekend. Maybe some of that will wind up going your way.
I got Google mapped today on the Tasman bridge. Ten points and a cookie to the first person who finds me (it will be awhile before they upload the images). Unfortunately Luna was lying down in the back seat, or it would have been too easy.
Thanks. The trick is to survive the extreme boredom of I-70 through Illinois since once I get to Indiana it’s a hilly two-lane drive the rest of the way. Anyhoo, I’m home.
Good morning!
Yes, just saw that on the forecast.
Busy morning trying to diagnose a nasty bite (spider, insect?) that curly has on her pinky. She got it the previous night; now her finger has a nasty blister-like thing (started as two, now merged – irregular shape), blood filled. Entire finger is also quite swollen. Not bad enough for an ER visit (yet), but she’ll stop by the pharmacy when they open to see if they have any idea.
You might want to rethinhk a trip to the ER if the swelling/redness continues to escalate. A friend of ours wound up an inpatient with a roaring infection for several days recently due to a similar occurrence. She was bitten right between the eyes while asleep. Some of the spider bites around here, although rare, can be quite serious, depending on an individual’s tolerance to such things. Sorry to hear about the bad luck and hope curly is back to normal soon.
We don’t know what kind of bug is responsible, but she’s on antibiotics now. The ‘blister’ looks even worse, but some of the numbness and swelling has subsided.
Morning Indianadem!! It’s supposed to be rather pleasant all week. LOL Chance of showers Sunday and Monday but only 30 and 20% which means it probably will not rain at all. LOL If we have winter here, it is usually not till late Dec.- mid March and even then not as cold as other places.
I will start saving for some for the holidays. LOL or maybe when food stamps hit again. It sucks to be poor but at least I have my own place again. LOL
Thank you!!! It is great and feels like home evfen more than some of the places in the past. After losing everything twice, I have learned to appreciate the simple things in life and be a lot more thankful for what I have especially the good thoughts, wishes and prayers from friends.
Unfortunately, there’s a mound of stuff on my home office desk that has to be done for Mrs. ID’s clients. It comes from being a partner in her business. Its also the job I’ll be returning to after my term of office with the county is over at the end of next year, so I’d better stay in her good graces.
Hopefully there’ll be some time to sneak in a little slacking though;-)
Weather in the mid-20’s (that’s Centigrade, which is the high 70’s in Fahrenheit) today. Possibly the warmest day of the year yet. Yesterday was gorgeous as well, so much work was done in the yard – to the amusement of accompanying puppies.
Good morning keres! Our weather here is much the same (20 C), since a warming trend blew in yesterday. Although the autumn leaves have fallen, the place is swarming with tourists as if it was October again. Maybe they’re Badger fans, taking a little side trip. (IU vs. Wisconsin game today). Hope they’re leaving lots of moolah with the local merchants. I’m listening to the neighbors 2 puppies bark at passers by and the horse carriages.
Between the different species currently flowering (at least six), there are hundreds of orchids up at the moment. We’ve already had three come and go, and there are probably another two to four to still come up.
The one above has blossoms about the size of a nickel – which is sort of the average size for our native orchids.
With the thought of proliferation of blooms, comes the memory of travels in Spain and the brilliant red wild poppies of Aragon below the Pyrenees. Candy for the eyes, if we will but pause to notice. Thanks for sharing your gifts with all of us.
Do they bloom in groups or are they scattered around?
Both. One gets the impression that as the seeds scatter some find better places than others,, and the ones with the particularly good luck then colonize the ground around them.
It topped 70 here yesterday and was sunny. A very lovely Saturday to get out the bike and ride to the country. For awhile there I almost thought I was in the middle of Sturgis.
The warm-up is probably headed in your direction, but unfortunately, not in time for the weekend. Are you given amnesty from your labors on Veterans Day next week? Perhaps it will get to you in time for that;-)
Yes it is and no big plans either. LOL If I make enough helping out a friend who has been kind enough to let me help out, I will probably take myself out for breakfast. LOL
We had our first truly warm day today. It’s almost 10pm and it’s still in the 80’s. I’ve had to let Lily inside to keep her from smooshing any more moths and beetles against the sliding glass door.
I had a look in the shed earlier today to see if the fan was in there and ended up with baby swallows jumpng out of the nest and hiding under the shelves and in tool bags, etc. I managed to put them all back, but noticed later that two had popped out again. They’ve got their full feathers, and parents will mind them on the floor. Nothing else can get inside the shed, so I’m not terribly worried. I’ll keep an eye on them nonetheless.
Tomorrow is supposed to be 16 degrees cooler. We rarely have really hot days back to back thanks the roaring 40’s and our rapidly changing fronts.
In deference to all the arachnophobes I’ll refrain from posting a picture of the two large Huntsman spiders on the outside of the glass. They’re cleverly making use the light through the window to attract moths.

How is everyone today? I had a crazy day yesterday (started my day at 1:30 am), and then crashed into a heap on the couch at 7:30 last night.
It’s nippy here today. Time to order some heating oil and put in the storm windows, I think.
Morning!!! Still in the 70’s here. LOL
Yep, those baby birdies look exceptionally cosy – especially since our temps dropped again yesterday and I’m back to being a rugged up (“rugged-up” is Australian for being wrapped in a blanket or wearing lots of layers).
If it happens to be anyone’s birthday here in the Cafe, let me extend birthday wishes.
Gorgeous weather here….sunny and clear, bright blue skies, temps in the 60s all week. Ah fall.
Hey there!!! You can wish me early Happy Bday. LOL Mine is on the 12th. I will be 51 this year.
Ok, happy early birthday! You’re much older than I am. I won’t be 50 until the end of the year. 😉
Thanks!!! Well, when you hear I have croaked from old age, you better start counting down. LOL
I’m now a still spry 52 after my recent birthday. And did I say that I’m spry?
Happy Birthday late!!! Spry is better than crotchety. LOL
That was my mother’s as well. Her mother was also a Scorpio, so I’m third generation. My son is one as well, coming up on Sunday.
Scorpios rule!!!!!!!!!!!
Good morning and thanks!
I guess FB sprung the secret. 53 today.
Happy Birthday!!! I hope the year brings special love and happiness into your life!!!
Thanks, rf!
I hope so too. Too much misery and problems lately.
Hope things continue to improve for you.
Thank you!!! Life has many surprise and mine lately have been mostly good ones.
Happy Birthday, ask!
Best wishes for a little sunshine on your day.
Thanks, ww!
It’s absolutely gorgeous outside. Heading out for an appointment now.
Happy birthday! Hope you have a wonderful day, followed by a fabulous year!
There are no secrets which the great FB does not reveal. Creeeeepy.
Happy birthday!
It’s also my niece’s (the Sweet Revenge one) birthday today so you should go in and tell her that in honor of your shared birthday she should obviously give you a free birthday cupcake. 🙂
Damned…too late. We’re just back in from dinner, long nap coming up (until morning, I hope). But I’ll go for a rain check one of these days.
Oh well. I hope your birthday dinner was a fine one and your birthday nap was a long and uninterrupted one.
Happy belated birthday ask!
Thanks, b2!
Back from an exhausting day and reallly enjoying a glass of wine.
Enjoy! My day pretty much sucked.
Darn! I missed it entirely. Hope you had a good day ask and Happy Birthday to all you other Scorpios, a group where #1 son & #3 grandson reside as well.
Mum and Dad of the the above nestlings in a rare moment of perching together.
Wow. Our swallows aren’t that colorful-I’ll be interested in how soon the young ones turn colors.
Is it the angle or bird one on top of bird two?
What a deep gorgeous blue.
Good morning!
Howdy.
And un-howdy as I need to get going. Can’t wait for tomorrow and heading home.
I hope the day flies by for you.
It’s just the angle. That’s the power line for our house. It’s their favorite spot to take a rest break.
They’re a pretty pair!
It’s lovely to see their brilliant color on a grey New York day ..
Very pretty little critters.
Greetings to all from the somber Catskills.
We had a leetle dusting of snow last night. Here’s the view from the old farmer’s field as of 7:30 AM.
As soon as it’s warm enough for the snow to melt from the tree limbs, I hope to go out again. As of now, the mercury reads about 32.
I hope it got all nice and toasty for you and the snow was gone from your sight.
It melted but came back overnight. Never toasty, unfortunately.
Looking forward to seeing you at home.
I look forward to seeing me at home too.
::looks around::
Hey! I’m here!
🙂
Oh, it is rather gray there, isn’t it? AM temps here have been quite close to yours of late, but no snow yet. I hear there’s to be a short (and welcome) warm-up for our weekend. Maybe some of that will wind up going your way.
Yes, I think it will. We may crack 40!
😉
“Days of Future Past”
Yes. Aside of the phone lines, it looks pretty much the same here as it did a century ago.
I got Google mapped today on the Tasman bridge. Ten points and a cookie to the first person who finds me (it will be awhile before they upload the images). Unfortunately Luna was lying down in the back seat, or it would have been too easy.
The theme is “What is It?” and the diary is here.
And I am gone (almost) from St. Louis. Yay for going home.
Ta.
Happy Friday! Safe travels.
Thanks. The trick is to survive the extreme boredom of I-70 through Illinois since once I get to Indiana it’s a hilly two-lane drive the rest of the way. Anyhoo, I’m home.
Safe trip home! I’ll have to scare up a photo for FFF.
Thanks. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Hope everyone has a fabulous day!!!! Miss Andi safe traveling home.
Hope your day is fabulous as well!
Thank you!!! So far it is but I have yet to begin paperwork for SSI/SSDI. LOL
Well I got home just fine (yay home!). I hope your dealings with bureaucracy went as smoothly as my trip home.
Welcome back!
Hi Miss Andi!! Glad you made it home safely. I saved the paperwork for tonight. LOL Have to have something to do on Saturday night.
Ha. You really know how to party, refinish. 🙂
Don’t I though. LOL
Ugh, paperwork. Hope it all gets done without too much fuss, refinish.
It will….I have no choice. LOL
Brrr! Only 36 this morning, we better get the heat going.
Good morning ask! I believe we’re in the path of a little warm-up for the weekend. Its 45 at our house this morning, where it was 30 yesterday.
Good morning!
Yes, just saw that on the forecast.

Sorry about the bite. Sending warm thoughts of healing.

Did you find out what it is yet? I hope it isn’t serious – it sounds ugly.
We don’t know what kind of bug is responsible, but she’s on antibiotics now. The ‘blister’ looks even worse, but some of the numbness and swelling has subsided.
It’s a balmy 61 degrees here in Texas. LOL Good morning everyone!!!
Good morning refinish69! Your weather report from down there today sounds quite pleasant.
Did we finally manage to be in the cafe at the same time?
Can I join the party? I’m here too.
Of course you can!!!!
Organic Peruvian coffee is on here this morning. Help yourself!
OMG sounds like heaven…I have my extra strong folgers this am…budget gets in the way sometimes. LOL
Here is a blast from the past
Hope you’ll be able to splurge a bit and buy some of the good stuff soon;-)
I will start saving for some for the holidays. LOL or maybe when food stamps hit again. It sucks to be poor but at least I have my own place again. LOL
Everyone should have a place to call home. Glad you finally got yours!
Thank you!!! It is great and feels like home evfen more than some of the places in the past. After losing everything twice, I have learned to appreciate the simple things in life and be a lot more thankful for what I have especially the good thoughts, wishes and prayers from friends.
Mmm. Smells delicious. 🙂
what are you up to today, ID?
Unfortunately, there’s a mound of stuff on my home office desk that has to be done for Mrs. ID’s clients. It comes from being a partner in her business. Looks like the party went on without me (I’ve been trying to figure out Knucklehead’s contributions to the FFF).
But anyway … of course you can. 🙂
Morning Miss Andi!!! I cannot believe it!!! We have only been trying for how many months. LOL
And now I have missed you again. I’ve been over at Friday Foto Flogging.
I am still here. LOL I don’t have to bhe anywhere for a couple of hours. LOL
Apparently I’ve got something to do RIGHT NOW — at least that’s what the dogs are telling me. 🙂
So if I don’t want to be pestered to death, I’d better get going.
Hope you have a fine, fine day.
Have a great walk!!!
‘Morning all.
Weather in the mid-20’s (that’s Centigrade, which is the high 70’s in Fahrenheit) today. Possibly the warmest day of the year yet. Yesterday was gorgeous as well, so much work was done in the yard – to the amusement of accompanying puppies.
Have a great day with the puppies!!!!
Thanks RF, but the puppies say it’s too darned hot and are sensibly fast asleep in shady spots.
As a native norther hemispherian, how long did it take for you to adjust to the topsy-turvy seasonality of the antipodies?
Our latest find.
Sun orchids are so named because they only open in full sun. Today was a very sunny day and I spotted at least eighty of them.
They’re lovely! I can’t imagine eighty!
Between the different species currently flowering (at least six), there are hundreds of orchids up at the moment. We’ve already had three come and go, and there are probably another two to four to still come up.

Both. One gets the impression that as the seeds scatter some find better places than others,, and the ones with the particularly good luck then colonize the ground around them.
Also having a good year, Drosera peltata peltata, the carnivorous Pale sundew.
I like seeing them all — how lovely to be able to walk out amid such s profusion of petals.
Stunning. Thanks for sharing. I love orchids in all their varied beauty.
Beautiful!
Good morning!
Much milder today and bright sun rising.
Young (well, now 15) asklet will join us later today – it’s his birthday.
Morning Ask!!!! Still enjoying balmy weather in Texas. LOL I love the fact that our cold season if we have one is so small. LOL
I could for a little bit of balmy today. It’s a crisp sunny morning here, and most of the leaves have fallen off the trees in the last week.
It topped 70 here yesterday and was sunny. A very lovely Saturday to get out the bike and ride to the country. For awhile there I almost thought I was in the middle of Sturgis.
I’m jealous!
The warm-up is probably headed in your direction, but unfortunately, not in time for the weekend. Are you given amnesty from your labors on Veterans Day next week? Perhaps it will get to you in time for that;-)
I am off. Hopefully you’re right!
Happy birthday to asklet!
It’s been a big birthday week at your place, hasn’t it?
Very busy! But we’ll have a joint cake (not of the ‘space’ kind) today.
Hope you all have a wonderful celebration, and that curly’s spider bite is looking better.
Oops forgot to wish Asklet Happy Birthday. My bad.
No prob! And yours is coming up on Thursday!
Yes it is and no big plans either. LOL If I make enough helping out a friend who has been kind enough to let me help out, I will probably take myself out for breakfast. LOL
Good morning ask! Happy Birthday to the asklet!
Thanks, ID!
Turning 15 – it’s an awkward age…
Happy 15th birthday to asklet!
Happy Birthday Asklet. Enjoy your special day. (So many Scorpios!)
I say we re-title the Lounge “Scorpios Rule” until November 21. 😉
Thanks, keres!
I guess you’re one too? Did you see comments way up-thread (on the 4th)?
Yes, I am. Yes, I did.
I wonder if Andi will take into account the time difference . . .
How about a pre-Birthday wish before you go to bed.
Sweet dreams of a perfect birthday. 🙂
Yep. I’ll wake up 47 years old.
We had our first truly warm day today. It’s almost 10pm and it’s still in the 80’s. I’ve had to let Lily inside to keep her from smooshing any more moths and beetles against the sliding glass door.

One of the moths I saved from Lily. There were actually two of them, and they were much darker gray than this one photographed.
How thoughtful of the fly to show up to provide some perspective on the size. 🙂
But I want to see them! You could do a Thursday Spider Blogging diary. That would be fair warning.
I don’t like hot weather so I guess I’m sorry to see the warm temps arrive (though not sorry to see all the gorgeous flora they bring).
Not only is keres birthday coming up on the 10th (or in just a few hours for her) but refinish’s birthday is the 12th. Happy Birthday to both!
