It denotes a Beavis and Butthead level of sophistication: anything kinda naughty and/or vulgar is automatically considered funny and as used here has the bonus that later it can be dismissed as “only a joke.”
lol!!! I’m going to need a shrink after the coming health care debate. If only for insight into the Repug stonewalling. The Repugs are completely unhinged. “Raped”? Good Grief, how the hell is middle of the road Obama raping anyone? Get help you greedy fuckers. Then we can get some health insurance to our fellow citizens.
But they are not envisioning themselves as women (white or otherwise). They’re talking about ‘real’ “bend us over rape” – the kind that men use to de-legitimize/effeminize other men.
From the conservative (and not-so-conservative) perspective, women can’t ‘really’ be raped because their definition of women is “that which exists support men”. Women can’t be violated since use (and abuse) by men is their purpose for being [See Dworkin; ‘Pornography: Men Possessing Women’].
The battle is and always has been between groups of men. Their greatest fear is being cast down from the lofty hights of masculine centrality and cast into that cesspool of “The Other” – that lacuna, void, absence to their shining presence, that marks one for dismissal at best and murderous abuse at worst. Their greatest desire/triumph comes from sticking it to other men.
After all, by so successfully demeaning/defining women-as-objects (holes), there can be little payoff in her individual or collective subjugation. The real chest-puffing, penis-erecting payoff comes from besting other men. Which is why the Black man/white woman narrative was so powerful. It was never about a Black man violating a woman, but rather through her, claiming territory occupied by white men.
There is absolutely no subtlety or apology in these men’s conflation of penis=weapon. As long as they’ve got the bigger one, they’re happy and the whole rest of the world can just “suck it up”, “bend over” and “take it”. But any intimation that somebody else might be swinging a bigger dick and utter hysteria about the possibly of their being on the receiving end becomes their biggest fear and their greatest motivator.
Btw, Birth of a Nation was the first movie ever to be shown in the White House.
Weren’t they the same ones bitching that Dems were the angry ones, and that angry people don’t win elections?
AND weren’t the the ones that said it was “treason to criticize a president when he was out of the country”? Obviously, they think being angry will work.
Black-President Willie Horton Obama is raping your white daughter right now right in front of you. Also.
The dirty illegal Mexican aliens are gang-raping raping you next, so bend over and grab your ankles because Black-President Willie Horton Obama commands you to. Also, too.
repeat. repeat. repeat by trusted right-wing media outlets. Over and over also, too.
And did I say ACORN? You just know they have a part in the gang rape Also, too. They stole the ’08 election from hard-working-white-America so you just know they have something to do with it all.
None of this is normal in reality-land where the rest of us spend our time, but in the conservative alternative universe, this is already a well-embedded message. And stuff like this can’t be isolated incidents or just a joke by one entertainer. The use of the word “rape” is intentional for its emotional effect it has on you when you hear it. And its use and repetition is coordinated by these outlets, sharing talking points.
The only real question seems to be: Are they obsessing about being the rapist or the rapee — or both? Listen again to the clips and note the amazing way they kind of roll the word in their mouths like a wonderful piece of candy. These really are some sick little bastards.
Both (see my comments above). And your ‘candy’ analogy is very apt (esp since ‘Candy’ is such a popular porno name/title). I wonder how many hits I’d get googling ‘candy’ and ‘pornography’ (never mind, I’d only make myself sick).

the BLACK MAN’S GONNA RAPE YOU.
yes, that’s it. Interesting that they envision themselves as southern white women
