No, Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan did not tell gays to go to hell, he said that God will send them there. And apparently transgender people, too, because … well because St. Paul said so somewhere, so who cares what Jesus might feel about it?
Homosexuals and transsexuals “will never enter the kingdom of heaven”, a leading Roman Catholic cardinal said on Wednesday. […]
“Transsexuals and homosexuals will never enter the kingdom of heaven and it is not me who says this, but Saint Paul,” the cardinal said, in comments reported by the Ansa news agency.
But, hey, it’s cool, because he says that even though God will discriminate against LGBT people when they die because they are an insult to The Most High, here on earth they should be treated just like anyone else.
Congratulations Cardinal, you win my “God Loves Everyone (wink, wink, nod, nod)” hypocrisy award of the week. Because after your followers hear the first part of your message (Gays are an INSULT TO GOD and will BURN IN HELL for ALL ETERNITY!”) how many of them are gonna pay attention to the second part (“… but you should be nice to them — sort of — anyway”)? Yeah, I thought so. Damn few.
Don’t take this the wrong way Your Eminence, but to me you’ll always be [insert your favorite expletive here]. I also sincerely hope that when you meet Jesus in the afterlife he’s wearing a big rainbow sash and hugging close to his chest all those “non-opposite sex” folks you think don’t belong in your precious Heaven, just before St. Peter pulls the lever which sends you down the long slide to that fire and brimstone lake to which you’re so fond of condemning other people. Now that would be a just reward in my good book.
Ps. Wonder why he left pedophiles and transvestites off that list of people who insult the Lord of Hosts with their bad, icky, nasty ways? Just asking ….
