Welcome to Friday Foto Flogging, a place to share your photos and photography news. We were inspired by the folks at European Tribune who post a regular Friday Photoblog series to try the same on this side of the virtual Atlantic. We also thought foto folks would enjoy seeing some other websites so each week we’ll introduce a different photo website.
This Week’s Theme: Black or White or Black and White Interpret the theme literally, symbolically, or like a shot from an old brownie camera.
Website(s) of the Week: Jon Huck’s series of portraits of people and their breakfast (via Biome’s Blog).

Previous Friday Foto Flogs
All have a black/white component.
I really like the whitewall tire — among other things it makes me nostalgic for my childhood and my dad’s favorite car (a pink 1959 Mercury Park Lane).
That’s a magnificent-looking bird. Love the butterfly shot … 🙂
Snowbirds
… wishing they’d gone south with the human snowbird. 😉
lol … 🙂
and surrounding blocks in the aftermath of Snowmaggedon.
Wow, that is a lot of snow.
I love the toboggan picture — and I wanna go try that jump too.
There’s more sledding & jumping pics over here.
🙂
Thanks for that link — lots of fun shots.
Nice photos … I really like the first one, w/ the statue. In bw it really pops. And I love the second last photo of all the snow w/ the shoveller. Great perspective … and even nicer to be viewing it and not having to deal w/ it … 😉
I love the flying shadow.
Thanks to Bob for reminding me I had this.
White Ibis (an ocassional visitor to Tasmania).
Synchronized suckling (a mere one year and three hundred pounds ago).
Even though I saw her growing from baby to big kid, it’s still hard to a that Lily/Lilly was ever that tiny.
They grow up so fast . . .
Oh, oh, oh … they are so tiny. Agree w/ Andi – hard to imagine Lily/Lilly was so small.
Lovely black & white.
Those wispy black and white tail feathers are gorgeous.
Took me a bit to find the head.
Unfortunately, ibis heads are no where near as pretty as their feathers.
That’s the perfect picture then because the head is really camouflaged.
Rocky coast of Bruny Island, Tasmania.
That’s gorgeous (adds Bruny Island to list of places to visit when we retire and can come vacation in Tasmania).
Bruny island is a great place to visit. It’s only a forty minutes drive and a twenty-five minute ferry ride south of Hobart. It’s also home to many of Tasmania’s best fine-food producers. It’s easy just to eat your way around the island.
On the list with a big gold star.
It’s easy just to eat your way around the island.
After watching the Gourmet podcast I mentioned a while back, that was the impression I came away with … 🙂
That photo works really well in BW.
Oh keres, what a gorgeous shot … those feathers are amazing.
Snow ice cream will be served for desert at this picnic.

I really like the way you shot the bell. Some day I’m going to be a big brave girl and go ring it.
Love the bell shot too – love that you can see snow flakes … 🙂
Have you used this for a Sunday poetry post? Seems like it would be a great photo to match up w/ a poem. It’s a gorgeous shot.
I haven’t yet, and I know what I’ll pair it up with, but tomorrow’s done. So I’ll save this one for another time.
These images convey a feeling of rest and quiet times to me, but maybe that’s just an attribute of my recently acquired official geezerhood.

Love the Kokopelli Quartet, Surfer Girl, and the antique rose especially.
JimF,
I`m glad you like the little beaded bag.
It`s quite a piece of artwork.
There is no lining to the bag.
Just a heck of a lot of black & white beads.
I should have maybe taken it from the back since it`s unobstructed by the beaded clasp.
I have no clue who crafted it nor where it`s from originally.
I got it with my departed neighbor`s estate, which I was charged with ownership.
And Thank you.
I`ll probably get bopped on the head for including Teri`s picture in my post, but she doesn`t read my stuff very often.
She just alerts me to all new blossoms, tells me to come out for the sunsets etc.
As always, lots of great photos to look, ponder, and wonder at. ANTIQUE ROSE SHOW was really lovely and the touch of pink tongue in CARNIVORE 2 was perfect.
Thank you AndiF
And that is one big tongue on that lizard.
By the way, it devoured that while plate of meat.
Fantastic set.
I love that photo of Teri too – it has a carefree and happy feeling to it.
And the zebras – esp the mask. That is wonderful.
Olivia,
First, thank you for building this Fri. Favorite Foto Fun, along with AndiF.
I`m glad you liked the postings I put up.
“Carefree & happy feeling” is a way of life here.
The scrimshaw box is really interesting and your portrait of your lady is beautiful. You’re a lucky guy!
Indianadem,
Thank you.
I count my blessings every day.

Lots of excellent portraits in this set. I particularly like the ease of being Birch and the stinkeye you’re getting from Shorty. 😉
Shorty is one of the most precocious kids I ever met. She plays unashamedly to any camera she spies. I predict this girl is destined for great things!
I’ll never understand what happened to BtY. His dad is a wonderful guy, a joy to go campaigning with.
Evan is proof that the saying the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree is bs.
Wonder if he fell from the tree (on his noggin) rather than the apple?
Great moments you’ve captured ID … I really like the river altar. That’s lovely. And I laughed at the look you garnered from Shorty. Too cute.
Those two at the river are my grandchild producers;-)
I like that one too, although the campaigning one is another favorite.
Indianadem,
Riverfront Valentine is fantastic.
Thank you. I’m rather partial to those two.
The “lacework” of the top two images is wonderful but the sweeping lines of bottom photo with the patterns of snow-covered limbs behind make for an outstanding photo.
I like the bottom one too. Wow, you really got serious snow down there!
Thanks. Any snow is serious snow down here. 🙂 At least this time it was a nice wet snow that covered the trees and grass and melted on the pavement.
Our last snow was more like white sand, it was so cold. I remember the winter I moved back to Indiana from south Florida it snowed down there for the first time in years, but they got their revenge on my laughter when it went to 35F below here in Jan. That was 1977, IIRC.
Lovely NC snow, SN. Who knew it existed in such large amoutns? 🙂
Great images, folks! Impossible to name favorites.
