So far, I think the Democrats have handled the threat issue perfectly.
First, they highlighted, complained, and explained. Hoyer and others were specific, factual, concerned, but not scared, determined, and called for a change in the atmosphere. They did not go overboard, but rather, they were direct, rational, surprisingly low key, considering the subject.
Second, the GOP response was so predictable, as to be funny. They blamed the Democrats. They claimed some ridiculous equivalence to an event that continues to shift into irrelevant, murky, bull, and they blamed the Democrats again.
The Democrats responded (and I think this is brilliant, mature, and right on point) quietly, and again to the point. They did not scream. They did not accuse. In fact, Pelosi insisted that the GOP leadership had clean hands. More than anything, they took concrete steps to lower the tension, and avoided attacking the Tea Baggers or those in the GOP who had been turning up the heat.
Whether it works, remains to be seen. As Chris Matthews noted, weekends are often fueled with liquor, and a mob of angry Tea Baggers could lose their last bit of restraint.
wonderful, thanks for the link. Love reading how he actually paid for things – didn’t other prezs not carry $ and have their entourage pay for everything?
Bush 1 was speechless when he discovered the existence of the bar code in a store about a thousand years after it was discovered. He found it really clever. Bush 2 was left speechless by the price of a gallon of gas. He found it very expensive as if he had nothing to do with the price. You’ve gotta love such billionaire innocents.

Heckuva job, Boehner. Heckuva job.

Some more subtle, yet equally beautiful, mockery from the Prez himself:

Love his sense of humor. On a personal level, he’s my favorite President.
