FBI agents conduct raids in Mich., Ohio, Ind.
(Detroit News) – FBI spokesman Scott Wilson in Cleveland said agents arrested two people Saturday after raids in two towns in Ohio. A third arrest was made in northeast Illinois on Sunday, a day after a raid took place just over the border in northwest Indiana.
Michael Lackomar, a spokesman for the Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia, said one of his team leaders got a frantic phone call Saturday evening from members of Hutaree, a Christian militia group, who said their property in southwest Michigan was being raided by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The Southern Poverty Law Center reports Hutaree is one of 47 active militia groups in Michigan.

A well-armed citizenry is the best form of Homeland Security and can better deter crime, invasion, terrorism, and tyranny. The intention of this website is to inform, promote and facilitate the development and training of the militia. Everyone is welcome, regardless of race, creed, color, religion or political affiliation, provided you do not wish to bring harm to our country or people. If you are a United States citizen (or have declared your intent to become such), who is capable of bearing arms, or supports the right to do so, then YOU ARE the militia…

This story was barely a blip in the news yesterday. The keywords (to me) were: Christian Militia (oxymoron?), FBI raids in three states, seven arrested and the sale of PIPE BOMBS. It got a fairly long thread on dKos. Someone got a screen cap of a Tea Party Patriot web site with the headline “FBI Raids Tea Party Groups.” I wonder if they still feel allegiance to people who make pipe bombs?
This morning the mass media is finally reporting and the story seems to have gotten oddly smaller. Keywords: ATF, three arrested, bigger militia group distances itself from smaller “fringe” militia group. As tho they aren’t ALL on the outer limits of society. It’s interesting how it’s getting down-played…
Correction: The headline was “FBI Raids Tea Party Compound.” jimstaro got the screen cap. I have forgotten how to embed images or I would put it up. Here’s the link to the original thread…

Homeland Security might have to change their terrorist profile. Lieberman might object.
Bet they don’t go to gitmo! Bet they get a lawyer.
Can we expect them to start profiling white Christians and “white Christian appearing” persons? Will we start seeing a spate of hate crimes against white Christians and “white Christian appearing” persons? Will flying while a white Christian become a crime? Will wearing or displaying a cross be interpreted as a sign that someone might be a terrorist? Will a clerical collar be seen as a threat to public security? Will passengers on airplanes start notifying the flight crew when they see someone wearing a clerical collar, or a white Christian praying before boarding, or when two white Christians exhibit “suspicious behaviour” on the plane – you know, like sitting together or talking to each other in the aisles or something equally scary? Will the FBI start infiltrating fundamentalist churches, and trying to induce members to join them in absurd plots to blow stuff up by mixing unlikely cocktails of liquids? Will they start arresting white Christians for having ordinary household chemicals in their homes like ammonia or bleach that could, under some weird set of circumstances be mixed together to form something toxic or explosive or flammable? What about white Christians who buy fertilizer that could be used to make bombs? Will they start detaining white Christians as “enemy combatants” and holding them without charges in solitary confinement for years and years?
Should we fear for the rights and lives of white Christians now?
