Photo courtesy of wilderness wench and her recent foray into NYC…I’m getting excited about coming up later this month. ANybody know anyhng about the Sohotel? Most of the less expensive hotels seem to be booked already. :/
I’m hoping Andi will re-post her tree pic so I can climb up in it and hide instead of going back to work this week. 🙂
I’m honored that you’d choose the pic of my old digs for today’s cafe’, CG.
One thing that amazed me about my last trip to the city was the number of small hotels now in existence. They’re almost as ubiquitous as Starbucks .. ..
Sorry I haven’t heard about the Sohotel, however.
Certainly wish I still lived there this month. Then you’d have no problem with a place to stay.
I did, thanks. After checking them all out, most are sold out for the date in question. I guess we should have decided to come up Friday a little sooner. 🙂
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we caught a few flurries up here on the mountain, either, before tomorrow morning. Day & nighttime temperatures have been varying by as much as 30 degrees sometimes. Exactly weird.
The rain let up, so no snow, but with the wind-chill factored in it’s freezing this morning. Brrrrrrr.
Imogen and I are going on a trip to a rain-forest on the NW coast for the next four days. It should be an experience in this weather. We’ve got a cabin to ourselves so at least we can huddle together in front of the wood fire.
Actually, they wanted right back in after breakfast. But as I’m leaving the house in a few minutes the poor delicate dears will just have to rough it outside until late this afternoon.
Tomorrow they’re off to the rigors of puppy camp and having to spend their nights in a kennel quelle horreur (their beds are going with them, of course).
You’re right, I do. The top one is my favorite with its combination of the horizontal infinity of the building seemingly stretching on and on and the very constrained vertical.
I love this space. Bebo makes a great focal point in all that luscious green. Just idyllic.
We’ve had such a strange season here that our views aren’t quite so verdant. Very late frost caused havoc with new growth; then again, it’s been windy, to dry, fade & droop. (And not just me.)

I’d love to avoid work today as sleep didn’t come to me until about 2:00 AM, after the power finally came back on. Sigh.
You lost power & we didn’t? Wonder of wonders!
Hope you’ll get some rest later on.
Go figure. We lost it for about 8 hours or so.
Ugh. No power and no sleep on a Monday. Sorry, boran2, I hope the rest of the week goes better.

Some ideas to consider, via Craigslist.
Did you see my email with the link to the article on cheap hotels?

Bummer. Are you going to wait till Saturday, then?

Beautiful shot, Andi! Just delicious.
More images to share from my home town.
I especially love the second shot — the combination of the angle you shot it at and all the angled lines is really effective.
And thanks for the compliment on my pic.
You’re welcome & likewise.
My newest fantasy involves a week in NYC during which I do nothing but take pictures of downtown architecture.
🙂
The reest of us would enjoy it if you did. 🙂
All the more reason to try & make the dream a reality.
In all honesty, though, I wonder if I could stand it — transplant that I am.
We’ve got some beautiful weather today, ww!
Sunny, yes, but we’re freezin’ up here!
🙂
is trying to match your Summer. We might get a bit of snow tonight if the drizzle keeps up.

I assume Lily & Luna are in there element now that cooler weather is settling in?
Substitute “their” for “there”.

Sounds wonderful.
You might like these, too.

Yeh. That tension might be what makes these engaging.
Thanks, as always, for encouragement.
Following Bebo, though, may not be the best way to get over the hill.

Now it’s c-c-cold here. 55 degrees! The temperature swings are wreaking havoc on my sinuses.
I’m feeling sea-sick!
