Obama Wants A Race War Says Ben Shapiro

I can’t believe I missed this, and I didn’t see a diary on it so here goes. Ben Shapiro, esteemed conservative pundit and Regnery author of books like Porn Generation: How Social Liberalism Is Corrupting Our Future, says it isn’t the Tea Party or Andrew Brietbart or AZ Gov. Jan Brewer or Sheriff Arpaio who are are the racist instigators, it’s Barack Obama.

And worse, Obama is aiming to start a race war by enabling the real racists, African Americans and Hispanic Americans to to terrorize white people in a neighborhood near you:

The Obama administration is racist. They are using that racism to let black criminals off the hook, justify illegal immigration, hamstring law enforcement across the country, and push redistribution as a solution to supposed continuing discrimination against “people of color.” The predictable result of this policy will resemble the results of the 1876 election: federal abdication on racial violence, state abdication on racial violence and local abdication on racial violence. The next race war will come not from racist whites, but from racist blacks and Hispanics who feel empowered to act on their racism by an administration that excuses all minority misbehavior.

(cont.)
Take that in for a moment. In the last month we’ve seen a coordinated attack on a real civil right hero Shirley Sherrod by serial defamation artist, Andrew Breitbart and his partner in crime, Fox News. Breitbart has yet to apologize for his at a minimum, unethical behavior, and Fox News’ entertainer Bill O’Reilly’s “apology” was simply an excuse to assassinate Ms Sherrod’s character even more:

He also pointed out that she is a “long-time liberal activist who actually sued the Department of Agriculture and won $300,000″ and that, “even knowing that, the Obama administration hired her in 2009.” He concludes that, despite the fact that she was treated unfairly, there are other elements to her story that make her ineligible to serve in the government. “Should she be doing the people’s business with that resume?” he concluded. “I don’t think so.”

Yet Ben Shapiro, a little weasel of white privilege who obviously thinks black people are stupid for supporting President Obama as much as they do instead of say, Sarah Palin, feels free to ignore the race baiting tactics of scum like Breitbart, the legions of racists in the Tea Party ranks and the antics of Sheriff “The Only Good Messican is a Dead Messican” Arpaio, and lay the blame for all the racial division in our country at the feet of President Obama.

Ben, even for a “I’ll Say Anything to Get My Money From the Conservative Welfare Gravy Train” conservative parasite like you, that takes a lot of chutzpah. Especially when the Federal Judge who enjoined enforcemnent of most provisions of Arizona’s racist anti-imigration law has been receiving death threats out the wazoo.

The federal court judge who ruled last week that parts of Arizona’s new immigration law are unconstitutional has been “inundated” with death threats, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

US Marshal David Gonzales told the newspaper the threats began within hours of District Judge Susan Bolton’s decision to block the most controversial parts of the law, including the clause that orders police to verify people’s immigrant status while investigating other crimes.

I’m sure all those nasty folks calling for Judge Bolton’s murder are black and Hispanic gang members that Obama has encouraged to be upset because she she didn’t ban the entire bill, right Ben?

Though there is one thing I agree with in Ben’s otherwise execrable screed. Only one thing. Here it is:

Racial violence can only flourish with the approval or apathy of federal, state and local government.

Ben was referring to the rise of the KKK, Jim Crow and the oppression and even outright lynching of African Americans in the South after Reconstruction ended. And that was a horrific and ugly chapter in American History, a continuation of slavery by other means.

But Ben only mentions it for one reason: to tar the Obama administration with the same brush of white racism against minorities in American history that extends from 1619, the ethnic cleansing of Native Americans, the Civil War, racist immigration laws that banned Asians from coming to America, Jim Crow, the violence of the KKK, Lynching, George Wallace, the Birmingham bombings, down to the present day where “kindly, gentle, not a racist bone in their body” white Tea Partiers spat upon and called African American Congressmen like Emanuel Cleaver and Civil Rights Hero John Lewis “N**gg**rs” because health care reform passed.

So, to be clear, Ben Shapiro is comparing the current Obama administration, African Americans and Hispanics to the KKK and racist state governments during the Jim Crow era. Instead of looking at the well documented actions of those with whom he has chosen to align himself, he sees the entire problem of race in America today as being the result of a coordinated effort run out of the White House to start a race war.

I can’t say there was a time when idiots, political opportunists and race-baiters like Brietbart, Fox News and Shapiro didn’t exist, because frankly they have been and will always be with us. But it is sad that in today’s media environment they have so many opportunities to promote their lies and slanders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Dear Ben, you are either a very delusional person who sees everything through the “prism of race” or scummy little con artist making your way in the world because powerful people with money want to promote a message of hate against African Americans and Hispanics to distract our nation from its very real problems and you are their willing stenographer. . In either case, you’re as worthless as a tar ball washing up on the Gulf Coast beaches this summer and far more toxic.

The Entitlement of Bigotry

I just got home from spending a beautiful afternoon in lower Manhattan, where no one appeared to be thinking about a proposed Islamic Center near the former site of the Twin Towers. But 600 miles south of there in rural North Carolina, Ilario Pantano, ‘a former Marine and a Republican candidate for Congress,’ is attacking ‘the proposal before an enthusiastic crowd of hog farmers and military veterans.’ Very few New Yorkers care about this issue, but demagogues are going around the country riling up hog farmers about it.

We have the spectacle of the national director of the Anti-Defamation League comparing the 9/11 families to Holocaust victims, thereby entitling them to some kind of legal jujitsu that can block the First Amendment when it applies to Muslims.

“Survivors of the Holocaust are entitled to feelings that are irrational,” he said. Referring to the loved ones of Sept. 11 victims, he said, “Their anguish entitles them to positions that others would categorize as irrational or bigoted.”

I think Abe Foxman has opened a pandora’s box with that statement. I mean, if we’re talking about someone’s crazy Holocaust-surviving uncle, then, yeah, we’re all inclined to give him a little room to maintain his aversion to German cars or Bayer’s aspirin without too harshly judging his character. But in what sense is that crazy uncle ‘entitled’ to his prejudices? Not in the sense that he has any of legal claim. He can’t band together with like-minded Holocaust-survivors to ban the importation of Volkswagens. They can’t even tell neo-Nazis that they have no right to speak in public.

Now, aside from the legal matter, there is also the question of whether or not it is a good idea to locate an Islamic Center in near proximity to the former World Trade Center. Will the community be able to succeed in its mission or will the controversy surrounding its location make it counterproductive?

Those who support [the project] seem mystified and flustered by the heated opposition. They contend that the project, with an estimated cost of $100 million, is intended to span the divide between Muslim and non-Muslim, not widen it.

Oz Sultan, the programming director for the center, said the complex was based on Jewish community centers and Y.M.C.A.’s in Manhattan. It is to have a board composed of Muslim, Christian and Jewish leaders and is intended to create a national model of moderate Islam.

“We are looking to build bridges between faiths,” Mr. Sultan said in an interview…

…“The ADL should be ashamed of itself,” said Rabbi Irwin Kula, president of the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, which promotes interethnic and interfaith dialogue. Speaking of the imam behind the proposed center, Feisal Abdul Rauf, he said, “Here, we ask the moderate leaders of the Muslim community to step forward, and when one of them does, he is treated with suspicion.”

Only the directors of the project can decide the answer to that question. I don’t know. What I do know is that most New Yorkers don’t care one way or the other. And no disrespect to any of the fine hog farmers in North Carolina, but their opinion doesn’t trump the opinions of the people who live in lower Manhattan. The law is clear. And this controversy is a sad statement on the condition of the country. Irrational fear and hatred don’t entitle people to demand illegal behavior from their government.

Seymour Hersh’s The Samson Option

Promoted by Steven D.

Just some history of Israel and the development of the atom bomb in the nuclear reactor of Dimona. Should also add the Vanunu story and Maxwell’s empire, the Mossad and Rafi Eitan. Yep, the Israeli’s are real allies representing western values in an antagonistic Arab world.

Lawsuit Protesting Allegation Of Maxwell-Mossad Link Dropped

One of the most tantalizing news items of the year was buried deep inside the Washington Post ‘s Aug. 19 Style section under the coyly uninformative headline: “Hersh Wins Apology from British Papers.” Persistent readers had to burrow 19 lines into the story to learn that it began with Pulitzer Prize-winning American investigative reporter Seymour Hersh’s charge in his book The Samson Option that the late London Daily Mirror publisher Robert Maxwell and Mirror foreign editor Nicholas Davies had links to Mossad, Israel’s shadowy foreign intelligence agency.

Maxwell and the Mirror Group sued Hersh and his British publisher, Faber & Faber, Ltd. over the charges. Less than two weeks later, however, Maxwell’s body was found floating in the sea near the Canary Islands, where he had been traveling in his yacht, seemingly alone except for the crew.

The manner in which the Czech-born British publishing tycoon’s body was spirited away for burial in Israel after a perfunctory autopsy by Spanish authorities ignited widespread speculation over whether Maxwell, who was in the midst of high-profile negotiations to purchase the New York Daily News at the time, was murdered, committed suicide, or slipped off the deck of the luxurious yacht accidentally or after a heart attack.

LBJ and Israel’s Atom Bomb

Ironies abound here for today’s reader. Shimon Peres, who is now sometimes ridiculed for dovish flights of fancy, was the hard-driving CEO of the bomb project.

Lyndon B. Johnson, a member of the Disciples of Christ, blessed the enterprise at least in part out of biblical appreciation of the covenant between God and the children of Israel. Karpin writes that Johnson was influenced by an inscription his grandfather wrote in the family photo album: “Take care of the Jews, God’s chosen people . . . help them any way you can.”

Joint statement in 1964 by LBJ and PM Eshkol … progress on large scale desalting in Israel

George H.W. Bush crossed Israel and lost the election

(WRMEA) – The mass crossover to Clinton even included Republican columnist William Safire. The former White House speech writer for Richard Nixon and vigorous defender of Ronald Reagan had become a persistent critic of Bush’s handling of Israel.

Ironically, it was the determination by Bush and his secretary of state, James Baker, to link U.S. government loan guarantees to Israel to Israeli cooperation in the peace process that brought down the hard-line Likud government of Yitzhak Shamir. This, in turn, led to the election of the present Labor government in Israel, which has made possible the two major foreign policy triumphs of the Clinton administration–the White House handshakes of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin with PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat and King Hussein of Jordan.

Rafi Eitan’s Reply to Hayden
.
Rafi Eitan was interviewed recently on Russia’s RT news. Always interesting to listen to the old Mossad [lying] fox who abducted Eichmann from Argentina. “That was one of the easiest missions in my career.” Talks also about the bombing of the Osirak reactor in Iraq and the impossible mission to do the same in Iran. Refuses to talk about the Pollard case of spying on the United States.

"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."

  • Governmental Incompetence

That’s the cry of all the good T-partiers and conservatives anytime a governmental spending program is brought up. Given the record of the Bush administration in Iraq shown in the following article it is easy to understand why.

    http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/meast/07/27/iraq.audit/?hpt=T2#fbid=-RvbgFn4EnR

A federal audit of $9.1 billion targeted for reconstruction in Iraq cannot account for more than 95 percent of it, a federal report said Tuesday.

The report, by the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, blamed “weaknesses in DoD’s [the Department of Defense’s] financial and management controls” and called on the Pentagon to improve its financial and management controls.

The audit centered on the Development Fund for Iraq (DFI), which was established in May 2003 by the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA).

In contrast look at this site to see how the stimulus dollars overseen by the Obama administration are being spent.

    http://projects.propublica.org/recovery

    Recovery Tracker
by Jennifer LaFleur, Dan Nguyen, and Joe Kokenge

We’ve taken all the data used on the government’s stimulus Web site, Recovery.gov, cleaned out the cobwebs and added thousands of records the feds didn’t include — the law doesn’t require all recipients to report to Recovery.gov — to create the most comprehensive publicly available analysis of stimulus spending that we know of. Type in your county or click on your state to find local projects, and check out how per capita spending compares with poverty, income and unemployment in your area.

I think the lesson learned from these examples is that when someone is railing that the government can’t do anything well, they should not be put in a position to prove their claim.

    Ben Nelson: Too Cute

Ben Nelson made an official press release saying the following:

July 30, 2010 – Today, Nebraska’s Senator Ben Nelson issued this statement on the president’s nomination of Elena Kagan for the U.S. Supreme Court to fill the seat of retired Justice John Paul Stevens:

“As a member of the bipartisan ‘Gang of 14,’ I will follow our agreement that judicial nominees should be filibustered only under extraordinary circumstances. If a cloture vote is held on the nomination of Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court, I am prepared to vote for cloture and oppose a filibuster because, in my view, this nominee deserves an up or down vote in the Senate.

“However, I have heard concerns from Nebraskans regarding Ms. Kagan, and her lack of a judicial record makes it difficult for me to discount the concerns raised by Nebraskans, or to reach a level of comfort that these concerns are unfounded. Therefore, I will not vote to confirm Ms. Kagan’s nomination.”

Why can’t Ben Nelson do the whole “for cloture/against the bill” thing on anything but judicial nominees? Doesn’t his explanation for opposing Kagan sound a lot like Vilsack’s explanation for why he fired Shirley Sherrod? Essentially, if people say bad things about a Democrat you musn’t try to fight back. That’s too hard. You must stop supporting the Democrat and join in the Idiot Chorus.

What I suspect is that Nelson wants the support of anti-choice groups in his state that he’ll probably need to get reelected. Maybe he’ll get some credit for coming out early and cutting the knees out of any Republican who might have been considering voting for confirmation.

The only good thing I can say is that he also provided cover for Republicans who want to split the difference.

I don’t live in Nebraska, but I think moves like this one from Nelson wind up pleasing no one. Nelson didn’t fight as hard as could to oppose a pro-choice judge so the Lifers aren’t going to give him a good score. And the Democrats want to know why Nelson confirms George Bush’s judges but not Barack Obama’s.

The Problem Isn’t Fast News, It’s Dumb News

An analyst has called for a more deliberate pace in the production and consumption of news.  He could have demonstrated his commitment to such improvement by shelving yet another exercise in media self-mortification and spending time with some primary sources.

For more on pruning back executive power see Pruning Shears.

No Associated Press content was harmed in the writing of this post

Walter Shapiro picked this week to lament the sorry state of the media.  He believes we have become ignorant and easily distracted by an Internet-bred culture that cultivates short attention spans.  There have always been good and bad news sources, though, and that continues to be true on the Internet (which after all is just a technology).  Shapiro, however, seems to believe we should trust – or at least privilege – the institutions that have been around longest; presumably they will have the best practices.

He characterizes NPR and PBS’ NewsHour as “laudable enterprises,” but let me tell you:  When the Justice Department was melting down under Alberto Gonzales’ disastrous tenure, I listened in vain to NPR for ongoing, in depth coverage of the slow motion train wreck.  Instead there were brief recitations of conventional wisdom at the top of the news followed by unending doses of human interest pabulum.  I stopped listening entirely in the summer of 2007 out of sheer disgust with how poorly it was covering one of the biggest stories of the time.  Know who was prioritizing it?  Marcy Wheeler, Raw Story and other Internet outlets.  Does Shapiro recommend checking with them before NPR?  They certainly did a better job prioritizing on that issue.

Also consider NPR’s shameful coverage of torture, the New York Times’ failures on Iraq, or the Washington Post’s repackaging of Salon.com’s scoops as their own.  There are valid reasons for being deeply skeptical of the biggest outlets.  They have misled their audience on some of the most important issues of the last decade, and more often than not never correct themselves.  (They will do so in a smug, self satisfied no-error-is-too-small kind of way: “Ms. Smith received a Bachelor of Science degree and not a Bachelor of Arts as reported,” but not on fundamental failures: “We repeatedly hyped a non-existent link between Iraq and the anthrax attacks, thus playing a vital role in advancing the Bush administration’s relentless march to war.  ABC News regrets the error.”)

    Most astonishing is this:

We have lost sight of so many significant aspects of our age because they cannot be boiled down to bite-sized news nuggets. It is more than combat fatigue that produces the bizarre reality that — military families aside — most Americans appear to have almost forgotten that we are still fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. These are wars that defy easy answers, and the latest updates from the ever-shifting battlefields cannot be encapsulated in 140-character tweets.

He published this two days after the biggest wartime document dump ever!  He had just had laid out before him a trove of papers that might have allowed him to make sense of some of that complexity for his readers.  Instead he wrote about the media equivalent of a carny barker.  (Let’s not even go into the perversity of bemoaning the rise of such a creature while devoting a column to him, or launching a withering attack on the culture that glamorizes such a scumbag while approvingly linking to an interview of him in Shapiro’s own publication.)

The Wikileaks memos were immediately declared old news (sound familiar?) but you know what?  There’s a lot of data there!  Perhaps a reporter could look into that and see if such a vast store of data really is as mundane as is claimed by those with a vested interest in not talking about it!  I downloaded it myself (did Shapiro?) and picked a random document from the “sectarian violence” section:

    INSURGENTS IN KABUL
Organization(s) Involved: HEZB E ISLAMI GULBUDDIN
    21 NOV 2006- CJ2X INTSUM- N/I S
DOI: 21 Nov 06; OHR: IT CI FHT/1074
(N/I C) At the end of October, the following insurgents moved to KABUL from the village of QARIA TABLAH, PAKTIA province, near the village of ALI KHEYL (GRID: 42S YD 109 838) IOT carry out suicide attacks:
    – AMER ZABET;
    – NAZER.
They have been trained in the area of CHORAT (PAKISTAN) adjacent to PESHAWAR and at this time, they might live in the vicinity of the bazaar of POL-E CHARKHI (around 20 km to the east of KABUL). They are receiving information about the targets from the following insurgents belonging to HIG:
    – SAME, native of QARIA BAND NAGHLO (KABUL province, SUROBI district);
    – ZANULDEN, native of ANIF KHIL JORJE (SUROBI district),
Currently, SAME and ZANULDEN are living in the SHINAH area (GRID: 42s WD 272 203).
This information MAY NOT be released to any portion of the Afghan Government

How does anyone know that is old news, or that it represents a situation that has vastly changed since president Obama claimed to have switched tactics?  “INSURGENTS IN KABUL”?  I thought they were in the tribal areas.  Are there lots in the capitol as well?  And what is that “HEZB” listed in the Organization(s) Involved?  As in, Hezbollah – the political/paramilitary organization funded by Iran?  Sounds like news to me!

The problem Shapiro is attempting to describe is not one of unprincipled propagandists driving coverage, or a shallow populace dumbly mesmerized by sensationalists, or a chaotic and incomprehensible media environment in which a cacophony of bursts and links prevent the development of thoughtful understanding.  The problem is with media outlets so terrified of being accused of liberal bias that they reflexively blurt “how high?” whenever a sufficiently well placed wingnut starts shrieking for them to jump.  That, and reporters and commentators more concerned with lazy, rote jeremiads on our sadly fallen state than on challenging received talking points or breaking a sweat trying to make sense of complex issues.  Fix those and you’ll be amazed at how the discourse elevates.

Bankrollers of SBVT Targeted by SEC for Fraud

Wealthy Dallas brothers become SEC fraud target

AUSTIN, Texas – Brothers Charles and Sam Wyly, born a year apart during the Great Depression, are named in a federal complaint that accuses them of using offshore havens to hide more than a half-billion dollars in profits over 13 years of insider stock trading.

… In 2002, they each gave $10,000 to Texans for a Republican Majority, the political action committee then-U.S. House majority leader Tom DeLay and his associates used to raise and spend money to defeat Democratic candidates and elect Republicans to the Texas Legislature. DeLay and two associates continue to fight criminal charges related to that political committee.

Both Presidents George H.W. and George W. Bush received donations. And the brothers helped bankroll the famous Swift Boat campaign that helped re-elect the younger Bush in 2004 by tarring Democratic opponent, Sen. John Kerry.

    Saturday Painting Palooza Volume 260

    Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Cape May transitional-style house . I’m using the photo seen directly below.

I will be using my usual acrylics on a 12 x 12 inch gallery-style (thick) canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I have continued to refine the shape of the roof, especially the front-facing gable.  The peak is now lower like that seen in the original.  I have also added the first layer of color.  The red paint acts both as a tool for refinement (narrowing those porch openings) and as a base for the paint layers yet to come.

I’ve also added the first layer of sky.  Below, the lines defining the curb have been added and a layer of base color for the street.  I may have to pull the curb out a bit.  I still need to address the issue of perspective.  It’s not bad but there isn’t the dramatic lines of the photo.  It will be something to aim for in future  installments.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

That’s about it for now. Next week I’ll have more progress to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.

Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.

    GULF COAST DISTRACTIONS

Being Friday again, I`m here to try & keep the gulf coast on the minds of as many people as possible.
Lately I feel that the media is trying to give the gulf, the bum`s rush. We keep hearing about wrapping up the booming under the guise that booms do deteriorate. I can`t argue that, but let`s have new booms available & on hand, since this is hurricane season.
I will not be sold on wrapping up the gulf cleanup till they at least plug the well permanently, & keep monitoring the gulf for the next few years.
Right now Bob Cavnar is speaking  on TV & mentioned the posters at Daily Kos, specifically the ones guiding everyone through this disaster  with the Mothership & it`s “Babies” (my qualifier)
He is also one of the people I listen to & believe, when I see him on the big TV machine, over any one else on their Propaganda machine.
I normally post my images as distractions from all the travails of our daily lives in these trying times, but these are not to distract, but to point you towards what some would have you be distracted from. Please do not fall for that old ploy.
Even if the specimens I post do not all live in the gulf environment, they are the best I can post from these taken in my reef tanks.
