I guess the newest thing for Republicans is to make really incredibly stupid campaign commercials and hope they go viral. I don’t know why they think this will help them get elected but this one does build an absurd amount of excitement around a rather bland -looking bald man’s candidacy.
So, I learned that I can trust him. Nothing else.
this guy is running for state rep, but I bet they’ll be a lot of talk in next year’s freshmen congressional class about who had the fucking dumbest commercial.
Someone talked Mike Weinstein’s campaign into letting their musically inclined son or daughter write and direct a tedious, Glee-inspired commercial.
Ah, I have heard about this Glee. I have no idea what it is.
I’m the only straight guy I know of who enjoys Glee.
The work of a frustrated music video director, no doubt. I want my MTV.
They shouldn’t cut away to stills of the guy, especially numerous stills of him holding a mic. he sort of disappears out of the video. the soundtrack is going “mike, mike, mike” and I’m looking at the mic he’s holding and wondering about it. if they’re going to use those dancers, who, nicely enough look like real people, they should have the dancing outdoors in a natural setting. as someone pointed out on tpm comments, it’s nice they’re not stealing copyrighted material or using songs by groups that don’t support him. on the other hand it is truly terrible.
also pointed out in tpm comments it doesn’t attack other candidates, it’s positive, hence not as bad a demon sheep
Why does this ad tell you you can trust him Boo? It tells you nothing other than he has money to spend on an ad which tries to create a feelgood hip factor but tells you absolutely nothing about his policies or abilities. What has he got to hide? Wht does the product really do? This is like selling a car by draping models over it. It reduces politics to marketing, politicians to entertainment, and voters to passive consumers.
Anyone who buys this ad deserves all they get – whatever it might be. Anyone who produces it obviously thinks that’s all Americans are good for or able to comprehend. I’m all for not being too po faced about politics and having a laugh, but not at my own expense…
I mean that the only thing the ad tells me about the candidate is that I can trust him. It says nothing else about why I should vote for him.
