And it can’t come a moment too soon this week. 🙂 Too much time away from the Finny this week.
It’s a torrential downpour here today…it’s slacked off a bit, but supposed to be nasty throughout the day with high winds. I hope it dries out by Saturday morning!
I’ve been thinking of you because I know NC got smacked pretty badly.
(Also heard a good band on the radio yesterday called ‘Luscious’.)
Hope there’s an upside for you. As for me, I have an excuse to skip outside chores & do all the inside ones. Yowza!
The whole thing is an upside for me. We’ve been stuck in a miserable, hot, sticky, dry summer and it’s finally broken. Of course, if I lived in a flood prone area I might feel different. But the rain has been luscious for me. 🙂
So glad you like it. It’s been incredibly dry here too (see boran2 above re drought; we’re about an hour apart) & the local reservoir, part of NYC’s water supply, seemed a little bit tired.
We’re not worried about flooding right here, since we’re up above the valley. Down below, though, there may be problems.
One big upside to the day is that I have time to pop into the cafe’ & say hey.
Oh my, hope you stay dry – we haven’t lost power, but one of my coworker’s kids got sent home from school because of tornado warnings. Ugly out there today.
Just confirmed that I have a slot at the conference (I was on the wait list) last night. We’ll come up on Thursday evening, and stay till Saturday. I’ll email the rest of the details to you.
Just need to find someone to take care of the dogs while we’re away…
It was from May of last year so probably. I was out walking with the dogs in the woods when I saw this very large “thing” — it took my brain awhile to believe what it was seeing (and the animal control guy told me the sheriff’s dispatcher to whom I reported it thought I was probably drunk).
I’ve had to get a big magnifier for work and force myself to decipher the sometimes teeny, tiny numbers. I suppose I should make a trip to my eye specialist for stronger lenses:(
On second thought, I could just use random figures instead. Probably no one would know the difference!
I went upstairs and lay on the bed the whole time so I could listen to the sound of it on the roof. I guess that’s the upside to a drought — it makes any smidgen of rain into sheer pleasure.
We got about 1/4 in. here. It was very pleasant compared to some of the violent downpours with high winds we had earlier in the summer. Now all our house plants have been given a drink just before we have to move them in for the winter. I hear there may be a bit of frost in the air tonight.
I’m thinking a “little” is all we’re going to get before most trees either go brown or just drop their leaves right away. It’s going to be an extra long bare time till next spring.

Yep, we have that soaking rain as well. We do seriously need it. We were in a drought situation.
Give Finn a hug for me!
It has been POURING here!
Finny has been hugged repeatedly, just for you. 🙂
Gee whiz. Check this out:
Flooding possible in NY & PA
This stuff is no joke. I became homeless due to heavy rains/flooding in ’06; this storm may equal what we saw then.
Stay safe, folks!
Btw, Central Hudson sez we may have power-outs. Let’s hope any outage doesn’t last for a week like it did last February.
We’ve had over 10 inches of rain since Sunday.
Wow.
I’ve been thinking of you because I know NC got smacked pretty badly.

I’m really glad for you. Now I want to be glad for us — well maybe a little less glad (4 inches or so would be enough for me).
Oh my, hope you stay dry – we haven’t lost power, but one of my coworker’s kids got sent home from school because of tornado warnings. Ugly out there today.
Hope everyone down your way is safe & well this morning.
Rain is lightening up here, heading east toward NYC; there’s definitely been flooding here in the Catskills, with the greatest danger still to come.
Big winds blew the tarp offa my firewood last night, so out I go into the pizzle.
Hope everyone is fine. curly mentioned the heavy rain.
Do you have any details for next weekend?
Hi,
Just confirmed that I have a slot at the conference (I was on the wait list) last night. We’ll come up on Thursday evening, and stay till Saturday. I’ll email the rest of the details to you.
Just need to find someone to take care of the dogs while we’re away…
Have fun you guys!!! will be thinking of you as I’m chained to my desk – deadline is Oct 14 and I’m not handling the stress very well these days!
This is a great idea.
What a great idea!
The Teapublucans will fight it tooth and nail.
Our local property tax bills have been itemized like that for years.
Hey! I didn’t see anything about how much it cost to catch that runaway emu I reported. 😉
Runaway emu? did I miss something?
Andi made a journey through the “Twilight Zone” a few years ago;-) True story, but I’ll leave it for her to relate.

It was a runaway from a farm several miles to the south of us.
At least you weren’t drunk & armed too, Andi. You coulda shot somebody in the face!
It was in very tiny print under Big Bird Bagging.
Ah, that explains it — we geezers never read the small print.

Random figures, hey, I think you’ve got a future in banking or stock trading. 🙂
Derivatives maybe?
. . . for the vision impaired.
Although I don’t recommend getting this close – it almost ate my lens.
It looks scary but maybe it’s just its “wow that lens looks tasty!” look
Nope, they’re scary, as in a “give me your food before I take it” look.
Makes me glad that I didn’t get any closer than I did.
So attractive with those beady red eyes…
Did anyone else get a strange e-mail today claiming to be from brenda stewart?
Yet another phishing scam
I haven’t seen that. Scammers are getting increasingly sophisticated.
Well, having met Brenda in person, it was pretty easy to tell that message wasn’t from her.
No, but got a deal offer that looks very promising from someone in Nigeria.
They do get around, don’t they?
Ah, yes. The ill-advised 3am post.
lol! Somehow being in that condition doesn’t sound at all attractive to me since I reached geezerhood.

I don’t think we got that much but it’s hard to tell the way the ground just sucked it up.
Ours is finally done. We’ve got a beautiful cool day here.
Good morning!
A hint of Indian summer here, low 70s the last few days after waking up to mid-30s last week.
Good morning to you. Hope you enjoy your lovely weather.
Good morning ask! Enjoy while it lasts!
and watch the fog lift.

That’s pretty – cold morning?
It wasn’t that cold but cold enough for the water to cool and then react to the sun-warmed air.
What scenic neighbors you have! I have my French Roast in my Booman cup and am taking a vacation day. Life is good;-)
Good morning! Any big plans for the vacation day?
I woke up feeling stuffy and exhausted, so I’m taking a sick day and getting some much-needed rest, I hope.
Unfortunately, I have to finish our income taxes:(
There will probably be some nice outdoor breaks, though:)
Ugh, income taxes.
Are the CBs joining you coming weekend?
Are the CBs joining you coming weekend?
Hmm, an unintended double click delayed…
I am always appreciate to Happy Hollow for the large number of photo ops they provide. 🙂
No frost here, btw.
Enjoy the day off.
Looks like we had a bit of frost last night. The brew pub roof is normally a much darker shade.
It’s cold here but no frost. Yet. Happy vacation day.
wow, that seems early. We had more rain last night/this am. It’s not raining now, but it is very dark and gloomy out.
About 38. Brrr.
I was just thinking that it’s time to think about getting warmer blankets on the bed.
I had the same thought last night. Winter is coming.
We’re more than twice that. Let’s meet in the middle.
We’re in the middle! Clear and sunny and 60s. Ahhh, thank god this horrible summer is over.
Envious…it’s cold and wet here.
Envious … of any place that’s wet.
Mid-60’s here. Spring has finally sprung. The wattle trees are dense with yellow flowers and the birds are happily eating the nectar.
Obama determined to follow in the footsteps of Jimmy Carter.
A little local color
very beautiful
I’m thinking a “little” is all we’re going to get before most trees either go brown or just drop their leaves right away. It’s going to be an extra long bare time till next spring.
