This is a result of the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission case.
OVIEDO, Fla. — The anonymously financed conservative groups that have played such a crucial role this campaign year are starting a carefully coordinated final push to deliver control of Congress to Republicans, shifting money among some 80 House races they are monitoring day by day.
Officials involved in the effort over the midterm elections’ final week say it is being spearheaded by a core subset of the largest outside conservative groups, which have millions of dollars left to spend on television advertisements, mailings and phone calls for five potentially decisive Senate races, as well as the scores of House races.
What can you do about it? Well…not a whole lot. But you can’t just lie down and die, can you? Let OFA know that you’re going to vote so they can stop worrying about you and start worrying about someone else. Volunteer to make some phone calls or knock on some doors. Make a contribution to a vulnerable candidate. Talk to your co-workers and change some minds. Do something, This isn’t any way to run a democracy, but we still have the right to fight for good representation.
gotta vote. gotta fight. got no choice.
I hope Alito is pleased as punch with himself. I do have one question. I hear plenty of people say that the Supreme Court is a political body, meaning that public pressure can work on them. After all, they want to be loved too(I guess). How hard would it be to have a concerted campaign/effort to demonize Alito and Roberts(since Thomas and Scalia are lost causes)? Like right now, BP and Goldman Sachs are about as popular as the plague. Why can’t we put Roberts and Alito in that category? Especially given the public’s view about the Citizens United decision. I guess what I am saying is this. Roberts and Alito want a good legacy, right? So lets put the pressure on them.
Alitto, Roberts and Scalia are the worst of the bunch …enuff said about the Teabagger’s husband, the porno judge. Pretty disgusting if this is who we choose as our judges.
i let OFA (hey, they’ve got this!) know i’m voting, and added my optional message:
it’s the same message I give the DNC every time i call them, which is weekly.
