Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has been repealed, so what happens now? Well, here’s one prediction:
Character-driven officers and chaplains will eventually be forced out of the military en masse, potential recruits will stay away in droves, and re-enlistments will eventually drop like a rock.
The draft will return with a vengeance and out of necessity. What young man wants to voluntarily join an outfit that will force him to shower naked with males who have a sexual interest in him and just might molest him while he sleeps in his bunk?
This isn’t a game, and the military should never be used, as is now being done, for massive social re-engineering. The new Marine motto: “The Few, the Proud, the Sexually Twisted.” Good luck selling that to strong young males who would otherwise love to defend their country. What virile young man wants to serve in a military like that?
There is something so gay about his post, don’t you think? I mean, I’m just picturing a bunch of strong young virile males in the shower. Was he trying to make some other point?
How much does one want to bet that Tony Perkins(and his buddy Bryan Fischer) have a Larry Craig problem?
What does Lindsey Graham say about all this? How about Mitch McConnell?

Next they might allow openly gay men in the Senate which could destroy Graham and McConnell’s laser-sharp focus on the pressing issues of the day. Oooops, wait…there currently no restriction on Senator’s sexual preferences, so Graham and McConnell need to set an example for the troops on how to weather this…lead by example.

Well, whatever, however nice this might be we need to see it actually implemented. As I think back I find it remarkable that we have finally reached this point. In 1968 I was rejected by the army because I said I had sexual contact with males. I got a 4F designation. No employer (except for NYC Social Services) would even look at you with a 4F for that reason. So I left he USA and have a very nice life. My congratulations. But I’m not coming back—no health insurance. Why do so many big and little people in the USA like to make life more difficult than it already is? And all that gushing about christianity.

Wow. I just read the whole piece and just, wow. I seriously cannot imagine living in that mind. He is so afraid and angry, and his rant is amazingly shrill.
And seriously, “character driven”? What the hell is that? Somehow these “character driven” (bigoted, I suppose) men will be “forced” to leave the service because they would otherwise need to defend or be defended in combat by fellow soldiers who share every personal commitment, every ounce of patriotism and professional training in common, but have different private sexual practices? Call me naive, but when your squad is under fire, I don’t think that matters. But these bigots will be “forced out” of an all volunteer service that is hungry for recruits?? Whatever.

Here’s the thing I don’t get:
We have these “virile” young, heterosexual men, rock’em, sock’em killing machines, who apparently are afraid of some “queer” looking at them naked? Killing machines that are somehow unable to rebuff or stop some supposed “molestation”?
And, another thing:
I highly doubt that the new policy is going to allow gays to just “mince” around, have sex all the time, and organize the annual gay parade. The only thing it will do is allow them to admit their sexual orientation without having their careers jeopardized.
The type of male bonding scenes depicted in Jarhead will never be the same. The slightest sly smile will dispense a sense of unease far more disturbing than anything the enemy might cause.

Whew! That is a truly disturbing story.
Maybe it hits a little too close to home since I live in a Denver suburb and grew up in a very small town where I was unable to feel like I could trust anyone.
Judd Greg is able to remove himself from Dogville but McConnell doesn’t have the courage? But then, if he did have the courage, where would he find enough people willing to put up with his hate-filled heart? When I see him smile I can only think that he enjoys making life difficult for others. Maybe I think that because the only time I see him smile is when he is being especially evil.
Though it may also be what Jon Stewart’s First Responders suggested, that Judd Gregg was paying for mcConnell’s lunches.
Or paying for something. It would make a little more sense if Gregg had died but it isn’t like he can’t see him or talk to him on the phone. Hmmm Maybe Gregg doesn’t want anything to do with him or McConnell has always been bailed out in the thinking department and now he doesn’t know who is going to think for him??
