Welcome to Friday Foto Flogging, a place to share your photos and photography news. We were inspired by the folks at European Tribune who post a regular Friday Photoblog series to try the same on this side of the virtual Atlantic. We also thought foto folks would enjoy seeing some other websites so each week we’ll introduce a different photo website.
This Month’s Theme: New/Change/Difference

Read about this yesterday — an Australian photographer, Peter Lik, sold a landscape photo for one million dollars.

That shot is GORGEOUS! Thanks for the link!
Wow! Beautiful shot!
Olivia,
Fabulous photo you linked to, but I`m caught short handed tonight.
I didn`t know there was a FFF tonight.
I`ll be back tomorrow with some images I shot lately.
Good night, my friend.
amazing, beautiful! thanks for the link!
New focus – More black & white, with different processing approaches
A change to specific photography, instead of random scenes
And something different – portraits & pictures of me
Dad
First son
First & Second son
“Old” me
“Young” me
Dad is a terrific portrait and I liked the B & W landscape with the stacks & vapor trails, a reminder of train trips through NJ on the way to LI many years ago.
Agreeing with ID that “Dad” is a splendid portrait. I particularly like the mood you’ve created in the second b&w shot.
The B&Ws are terrific. I especially like the high contrast on the second one. But my favorite is that blue piece of glass. Love the variation in in color in it, the luminous quality of the glass, and the DOF to draw attention to the spiral.
Really nice light on the portraits – those are fantastic.
Love the colours in the glass shots!
Stand Strong,
See dada`s shots below to answer your Flickr question.
These are great “change” shots.
Your dad is a character out of Dr. Zhivago, right?
Andi, you’re queen of the water droplets! Love that one and the delightful energy of the wild-dog-of-the-north.
Thanks ID … I always wanted to be a big drip. 😉
“New & Change” are both fun photos! I enjoyed the varying textures of “Difference”.
Some butterfly goodness.
Gulf Fritillary
Wow, love the detail on the top one, including the extra critter … 😉
They’re all three wonderful photos but this is my favorite — I like the vibrant color of the flower echoed in the butterfly’s wing and the sense of delicacy contained in the flower, butterfly, and the butterfly’s careful steps.
Great illustration of the theme of the month.
Thanks for the lovely color splash on what is a dreary winter weekend here.
I changed the way my arm looks on Wednesday evening about 2 blocks away from where the President spoke
What a gorgeous design — I love the intricacy of it.
thanks, Andi! I took him three designs & told him to put them together & make it work. He did a great job.
That is a cool design. I was going to get a tattoo once when I was a sailor, but by the time we finally finished drinking later that night, the tattoo parlors were all closed.
thx, ID. This is #3 for me but there were a couple of times during that I wished I would’ve engaged in pregame drinking.
It reminds me of a compass rose on an old map – cool.
thx, Jim! the four compass points come from the Aztec calendar, which is why it probably looks familiar.
Gorgeous design. Looks like it’s healed up already!
thx, o! it was right after so that’s why it looks decent.
Today it’s peeling & making me want to scratch my arm off 😉
Ah … 😀
Very cool Manee

Nice set, Jim! Mrs. ID was particularly taken with the Moore perspective.
Thanks, ID & Mrs. ID. The library plaza is a nice place. I wish the sky had been more interesting.
Jim, love that snow scene. Captured so well. Gorgeous blue sky in the second. Love the look of the light (and the colours) of the third shot – what lens were you using for that one?
Thanks, Olivia. I shot with the same lens on all three – 18-200mm. Unless I have something special I want to do. It’s my walking around lens.
Thanks for the info. I think what I’m drawn to is that it has a film quality to it – rich colour in the colours (the bits of red and the browns), great contrast, with lots of bright light.
great photographs and interesting discussion of them!
NEW:
(this is the newly opened Centre Pompidou in Metz, France)
CHANGE:
DIFFERENCE:
you can enlarge any of the photos by clicking on them!
The colors we’ll be seeing for the next few months are gray, brown, black, with occasional accents of white so I’m drawn to the boat and the jetliner. I am partial to reflections so the swan and the Centre Pompidou are also favorites.
As always, you make great choices. The trolley shot is favorite — I love the angles and the sense of motion and the bright colors.
Love -LOVE- that first shot Sven, just wonderful!
A little story
First here`s the sunset from a few nights ago.
The first one is 5 shots in landscape format & then the next in portrait format, also 5 shots.
Now to the story part.
Teri put out a clock in the sun to generate the night glowing of the numbers.
All that did was warp the face, which stopped the hands from moving.
I took the clock apart, measured the face & proceeded to make a new one.
I used the 5 shot portrait format one.
I then printed it, cut it out & reassembled the clock.
Now I see I put the bezel on 90 degrees off, so I have to disassemble it & put it on right.
Those are the changes I have to do.
How cool!
I love the way the colorful skies parts of the day are in the right hours for colorful skies on the clock. Of course this is depending on season. Here in a Midwestern winter, our entire clock face should be various shades of gray. 🙂
Thanks Jim,
That was just natural, but a good observation.
Here`s a few more, from yesterday I think.
The first is a double row of 5 & the sequence of how I put them together.
The last is in portrait format but I only used 4 of the 6 shot sequence.
There are maybe some “clockfaces” in them.
Actually, I probably could make a clockface for every day of the year with the sunsets I have in my archives.
I should start investing in the beautiful sunrises we are also blessed with here.
Wow! And Wow some more. And just a dab more Wow just to top it off.
AndiF,
According to the time stamp, I have to assume you like the clock.
Thank you for taking the “time” to post such a nice comment.
I really was caught flat footed on this FFF.
What gorgeous sunsets you have there! I think I actually like the clock face better without the bezel;-)
Indianadem,
Since you like the sunset shots, I just went out to shoot this set of four from my deck.
It shall also be my Happy New Years wish to you.
Thank you! Another lovely one.
Echoing Andi’s wows. Wow, wow, wow.
What a great idea to use your image for the clock.
Olivia,
I thought it was time to.

dada,
Very cool shots.
You do want to be careful that the Switchman is on the ball.
🙂
Olivia,
Asleep at the switch.
Someone sent me a pile of “fail” shots a few days ago, & I thought this one would be appropriate to go along with dada`s great rail shots.
Great photos for the theme, d. Fantastic view/perspective in 2!
I love the perspective of the horizontal shot. And it makes me wish I’d gotten an even lower version of this shot.

Andi,
This is not a Limbo contest.
