I can take a hint…
Sick Finny here, crazy season at work, slow-loading diary page, total exhaustion….
Anyway, how is everyone? 🙂
Yep, the loading of pages is slooow. I hope that Finn is feeling better. Say, aren’t we due for a new pic? 😉
Wow, even the comments are loading slowly today. I’ll have to look at my recent uploads and find a cute one of the man. Or even better, get BooMan to upload some video of ALL the CBs hunting easter eggs together last week.
A little sunshine might help. The gloominess has descended upon us once more here. Hope the one clear day predicted for this week comes to pass and that Finny is back to his healthy, normal self quickly.
Rain gauge says we got over 2 inches here. The creeks look like rapids in the Colorado river (well if you imagine that you’re looking at them from the rim of the Grand Canyon).
Ugh, sorry about the gloom. How is Mrs. ID doing, btw?
Very well, thanks! The surgeon told us afterward it was the best he had hoped for (minimal bone grafting). She goes back for a checkup on healing near the end of this month, then, hopefully, they can start on the prosthetics.
Good news. I’m glad it went so well.
That is great news! I’m glad it’s going smoothly.
Good on you for getting the hint … ’cause I was so subtle. 😀
Sorry about finny (and work). Hope he feels better soon.
Yeah, so subtle…
How many days does Jim have left, btw? and where are you all going on vacation this summer?
Finny is in bed, resting. I hope he has a better day tomorrow.
That was me, someone has been using my computer…
June 2nd is his last day.
We’re not going anywhere this summer — we’re doing bunches of house stuff instead.
Wow – one more month to go! Are you ready for bim to be around all the time? 🙂
I would happily trade some travel for doing stuff around the house this summer. As it is, I think we’re trading travel for CBtY’s education. Guess that’ll do. 🙂
Not at all ready but I think I don’t have any choice since his mother won’t take him back. 😉
Is CBtY going to go to a private school?
She won’t even take him for a weekend? 🙂
Yeah, we had a few things happen that made it clear that CBtY was in desperate need of a change in social environment, so he switched schools in March. We went from someone never wanting to get up and go to school to someone who was upset when it snowed and he thought he might miss a day! Nice change!
I’m sure that made you very happy — if only for the not having to roust him out of bed.
That’s nice to hear. The eldest grandson had similar issues and changed schools mid year. Things (attitude) are MUCH improved now!
Still no DSL. I’m gonna take up residence at Starbucks and use theirs. Dialup truly sucks.
Ugh. We have the slower version of Fios, and I even find that annoying. DSL, and I’d go ballistic.
It sounds like your service provider also sucks. Hope they get it fixed soon.
Speaking of which, I have a phone number for you. I spoke with the guy whose company is running fiber to the area elementary schools & he has plans to expand broadband service very near to your place. He said he would be happy to talk with you. Watch yer e-mail for further.
That would be wonderful. Thanks.
If we get broadband out of this, you will be entitled to a free lifetime* supply of fried biscuits.
* offer includes disclaimer of any responsibility for shortened lifetime.
Hope it works out <fingers crossed>!
Dialup was tolerable back in the days of Usenet. These days I wouldn’t wish dialup on anyone.
Up here on the mountain, we’re lucky we have any internets at all. I’ve never used anything but dialup. DSL providers don’t think we’re worth the investment.
Really, this means I don’t spend as much time OL as I might otherwise. Fine. Days are too short as is!
I’ve figured out how to get rich. Get Cal Thomas to write on the stock market and do the opposite of whatever he recommends.

Lovely shot!
Is your drive to work greening up? I’ll bet it looks gorgeous in spring.
Yep, things are leafing out. Now if the rain would only stop for an hour or two…
Beautiful image, Andi. Love seeing that green!
We’re seeing it here too, at last.
Wishing everyone a lovely Wednesday. Dank & chilly here today — snow possible tonight.
Yay for green!
No snow here but we’ve got frost warnings. I guess we wouldn’t have them if we hadn’t had clear skies so the frost seems a fair trade for a break in the rain.
At least the days warm up again. I hope any frost didn’t damage your new greens too much.
We did get a little light, fluffy snow yesterday. Winter’s last embrace (we hope).
yes, beautiful!
I’ll bet Tolstoy’s home is beyond beautiful in spring — though I’m guessing that spring must arrive a good bit later there.
A friend & political colleague woke up in Barcelona this morning for a well-deserved vacation after a contested mayoral primary. I told her to be sure to visit all the Gaudi stuff before she moves on. Loved Barcelona!
If I had the time, I could take some pictures of swollen streams and rivers.
I wish everybody time to get outside, pictures or no. For me, going out into the woods is just about as necessary as breathing.
I’m trying to weasel an outdoor day today. I think Mrs. ID will capitulate;-)
Seconded! Hear hear!
Of course, we have it easy since all we have to do is walk a few steps. 🙂
Yup!
As of now I’d appreciate being able to walk a few steps without my parka. We’ve been struggling to see 50F all season.
Every time we get a few warm days and I think I’m about to head into t-shirt season, it cools back down again. Of course, once July rolls around and we’re doing 90/90 days, I’ll be missing these gotta-wear-fleece days.
Same here.
Odd, but I hardly ever experience my favorite temperature, which is 72F. Doesn’t Mother Earth realize that my personal comfort should be her priority?
🙂
Hope you’re set for an enjoyable weekend! I’ve got chores piling up here, as usual.
Ratings are a real nuisance for me lately. No robo-rater, going thru to rate individually, halfway through they all disappear. Feh!
If I was on dial-up all the time, I wouldn’t spend one bps worrying about rating people. Better you spend the time you have online chatting with us, than four-nicating. 😉
Four-nicating! lol
I stole that from somebody — I think it was dada.
Had a lovely & peaceful afternoon in the sun with hands in the dirt. No pix though – muddy fingers.
Two days without rain! And with sun! It felt almost miraculous. 🙂
Hands in the dirt are a key ingredient to a beautiful life.
🙂
Very briefly in between other responsibilities. It was absolutely gorgeous this morning.
I hope you have many more such mornings.
New server has been purchased. It will have twice the memory and four times the processing power. It will be active no sooner than the sixth, and no later than a day or two later. It will also represent a 50% increase in monthly cost. But, hey, this server is barely working at this point.
Happy about the upgrade in speed, but bummer about the cost.
Cool! Things have been slow to load lately. Looking forward to the increased speed.
Congrats on the new server. Be sure to pass the hat again soon:)
Good idea!
Good morning and Happy Mother’s Day! I hope all you moms are getting to sleep in and wake up later to brunch served in bed.
I did get to sleep in!
Yay! So did Mrs. ID, but we don’t often have those little distractions around the house anymore like you do;-)
Have a wonderful day!
Drive by hi from stolen wifi. Waves to all. Happy Mom’s day to all moms!
Yay for stolen wifi. 🙂
It’s my only reprieve from dialup until we get our new DSL. Sigh.
Hopefully your time in dialup purgatory will be brief.

Perfect pic for a Monday!
It is so hard to motivate myself to leave today. I had a wonderful weekend, including an awesome trip to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival with my mom and Finny, sleeping in until 8:30 on Sunday, when a breakfast of lox and bagels and pastries and coffee awaited me, a funny card and Belgian chocolates, and ribs on our new patio-daddyo grill.
I need some time off to just hang out a home for a few days.
Oh, and can I say that I am in love with my recently acquired neti pot? I can breathe and smell again! 🙂
How was everyone else’s weekend?
Ah, another neti pot convert.
Glad everybody treated you like a queen on mom’s day. Finny certainly did his part. 🙂
Its not every day one of these big boys shows up in front of my house. He appears to anatomically correct too.
True — it is a bit bigger than the usual critter in the back of a pickup truck, though I have seem some dogs who were pretty close. 😉
