I want to thank everyone who supported the Frog Pond last month. Hopefully, you all got a thank you note, although, like every month, a couple of my emails get bounced back to me. I rely on my readers to help me to continue adding my voice to the national political conversation. Without your support, I’d be silenced. And I think, now more than ever, we need different perspectives than your run-of-the-mill progressive analysis.
We’re entering a dark time in American politics with gridlock as far as the eye can see, and we have a president facing reelection with persistently high unemployment numbers that put him at risk. And that puts all of us at risk, because a Republican president to go with a Republican Congress would be the most radical and destructive thing we’ve seen happen to this country in our lifetimes. We need people who keep their eyes on the ball, and I hope to keep trying to fill that role. With your support, I will.
Best regards and thanks for your support.
Also, too, have you see this? Yeah, we have to get ready.
Oh Roger Simon…
When I get a job, you’ll be the first on my political donation list! Thanks for everything you do, and once again I want to tell you that I appreciate your voice more-so than others out there — even if it seems like I don’t. Sorry, I just have to keep reassuring it because I’ve been disagreeing so much lately.
There’s no crime in disagreeing with someone. That’s something I have to continually remind myself 🙂
Martin, what’s your email address? I have a proposition for you.
you can use admin@boomantribune.com.
Thank you, just emailed
Eeew. You just sent me through a link to Pajamas Media without a warning. Ick. I feel so dirty. I’m cleaning out my cache and history now. Ick, yuck, dirty. Time for a shower.
Why didn’t you read my post first? I was his guinea pig…
There are some loathsome people out there who were once liberals and then they turn conservative…but then there’s Roger Simon, a guy who says he turned conservative over OJ’s trial.
That place reminds me of the toilets in some of the dive bars I was in back when I was a sailor on liberty.
the link to that worthless fuckhead Simon makes me want to take back a donation (j/k). He’s competing with Jonah Goldberg for how much stupidity he can fit in one column.
I just sent what I can right now. Thanks for all you do, Boo.
Done. Thanks for your work, BooMan and Steven.
I am happy to support the frog pond. I think it provides some of the best political analysis on the web. Not to mention the fact that this is the only website I read where the comments are actually interesting. This is a great (and precious) community.
I’m going to have to wait until the middle of the month again, but I’ll send something your way then.
I wanted to set up a recurring payment through PayPal, but it doesn’t look like that’s possible – you’d have to have it set up on your end so I could subscribe. The details are here. I know you’ve shied away from subscriptions in the past, but if its something you’re interested in doing I’d be willing to help you with the technical side.
I don’t know how I would cope without my daily visits this beacon of sanity. Thanks Boo!
Hope others will do the same.
Wish I could do more. Keep up the great work pal.
I am not sure there is a blog on this side of the political spectrum which has a more consistently well-rounded and intelligent conversation on a daily basis than this one. I cruise through a number of blogs on a typical day, and there are almost none where there are real debates in the comment threads that actually contribute to learning something. The fact that this occurs here and so few other places makes it a true rarity in the blogosphere, in my opinion. I know there are a number of people who disagree with some of what gets posted here, and they are not afraid to voice their criticisms. The difference here is that those criticisms are respected and get thrown into the whole intellectual mix. And that creates an environment where a well informed and conversant group can be created who are ready with facts and arguments based on real information. That is an invaluable resource in today’s political world. This blog, like most blogs, will probably not revolutionize the political landscape. But it continues to play an important role in providing a venue for debating the important issues of the day and providing a common meeting place for those who wish to jump into the fray. And, as importantly, for those who only wish to lurk, they can also gain from the discourse that occurs here. So there is something for everyone who is serious about being informed and wishes to reason in an intelligent and rational manner with those who might not have the time or the resources to stay up to date on what is going in our politics.
I will continue to financially support this blog as long as I am able. In my opinion, there are few equals to The Pond. Please support it, if you are able. It is a gem.
Thanks, Richard.
Kind words, indeed.
gave what I could.
thank you for all you do, BooMan.
