Regarding Booman’s post NYPD, a Domestic CIA:

This is a very interesting topic, Booman. Thank you. Living in NYC and being observant in a certain kind of way…I like to play that lovely game “Spot The Security Guys” both on the street and in other places whenever possible and I have grown quite proficient at it… has already suggested to me that there is something happening along these lines, but I did not really know either the extent of it nor of its explicit CIA connections. Britain’s recent serious consideration regarding hiring U.S. “supercop” William Bratton (The ex-head of the NYC, Boston and LA police force…now there’s a trifecta!) as Scotland Yard’s boss said volumes about the international PermaGov and the links between and among various areas of local police work and a larger system of centralized police business that verges on traditional FBI/MI5 territory.

The US is rapidly moving towards becoming an entirely new type of police state…media-enforced “consensus” (whatever “consensus” is desired by the Permanent Government at the moment)…backed up by high-level electronic, technological and on-the-ground undercover work against those who are not part of that consensus. In its initial stages this is not entirely a bad way to govern. It certainly beats having Gestapo and SS troops or KGB rounding up millions of members of ethnic and other societal groups that might serve to hide a dissident movement and summarily dispatching them to prisons or worse. But as it grows, the likelihood of real abuse of those powers increases geometrically.

Which is where we are today.

Read on.
Of further interest to me…and I have not yet found any good evidence one way or another about this…is that the slant of this AP-produced and distributed story is decidedly negative about the NYC/CIA connection.

Now the AP is as PermaGov-friendly a news organization as exists in the world. It is the essence of modern, government-created and enforced propaganda masquerading as “centrism.” Pravda v.2.

So…why would the AP attack the intrusion of the PermaGov into NYC’s police force? It certainly doesn’t report on US intelligence atrocities all over the rest the world including the U.S…at least it doesn’t until something like the Abu Ghraib mess begins to stink so badly that it must be included in the PermaGov “consensus” that passes for mass media newsfill. So what ends are being pursued by publishing this story? It sounds more like something that Matt Taibbi or Seymour Hersh would be covering than it does normal AP centrist fare.

On a quick search, the team of Matt Appuzzo and Adam Goldman that shares the byline of this piece appears to have been tasked with writing the AP’s spook stories. In a published AP memo, they are actually described as follows:

AP Press Release

Memo to AP staff recounts scramble and scoops while reporting on bin Laden’s death
(In this May 10 note below to The Associated Press staff, AP Senior Managing Editor Mike Oreskes cites AP’s reporting on the death of Osama bin Laden.)

Colleagues,

The scene was like something from a Hollywood blockbuster, “The Taking of Osama bin Laden,” packed like the rest of the narrative with tension, intrigue and secrecy:

Two ace reporters huddle in a taxi cab, racing off to mine separate sources for details of this most extraordinary of stories. A cell phone rings. On the other end is yet another source, calling back with an exceptional detail — the name of the courier who inadvertently led the U.S. to the world’s most-wanted man. This is huge. But it’s not quite enough confirmation. So the reporters split up and call more sources. And they nail it. They head to a public Wi-Fi spot to file.

In the intensely competitive hunt for information in the bin Laden killing aftermath those ace reporters, Washington’s Matt Apuzzo and Adam Goldman, teamed up to score major scoops from the intelligence sources they have been assiduously building.

Two ace reporters teaming up to “score major scoops from the intelligence sources they have been assiduously building.”

If you are credulous enough to buy that kind of tabloid/B movie crap, I have a bridge in Afghanistan that’s for sale. Cheap.

They are professional leak faucets, just as were Woodward and Bernstein in the Watergate coup. Someone…some group of people…in the US intelligence community does not like this CIA/police scenario very much. They are using assets like this to stir the pot. Bet on it.

Hmmmmm…I wonder who that group could be?

Mainstream DC politicians…almost all of whom are either directly in the pocket of the CIA or are at the very least quite justifiably afraid of its reach and power?

Naaaaaaahhhh…what would it get them? Nothing of interest to the kleptocracy/pork barrel crew, for sure.

A dissident CIA group or some other US intelligence system like the National Security Agency?

Maybe, but why? And why would the AP cooperate when its bread looks to be buttered heavily on the CIA side?

Or..could it be the one intelligence group whose domestic feet are being quite purposefully stepped upon in this little territorial bout?

Could it be…

The FBI!!!???

The designated losers in the 9/11 cockup?

The butt of every PermaGov-produced and approved cop drama for the last decade or more?

The “intelligence” operation whose heroic founder’s name has become a synonym for “cross-dressing closet queen” throughout the mainstream media for many years?

Photobucket

Yeah. That one. That’s my bet, at least until further evidence surfaces.

I mean…hell, they’re even more “centrist” than is the CIA. A perfect fit with the Associated Press. Like little ol’ J. Edgar was with his boy Clyde Tolson.

Watch.

This will develop further, this little contretemps.

Watch.
