Occupy Wall Street, now SOPA / PIPA, and I just saw this on Truthout about Citizens United. The Iraq war turned a lot of people on to activism (at the very lease awareness), and judging by my Facebook news feed, SOPA / PIPA may be doing the same thing. Lots of people signing petitions and sending letters to congresscritters, people who I’ve never seen post anything politically related.
May this be the beginning of taking back our government from the moneyed interests.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.

indianadem,
Watch out.
“They” could just shut you down for using someone else`s property, long dead though he may be. You`ll be in the dark for evermore.
“That I scarce was sure I heard you”-here I opened wide the door;-
Darkness there, and nothing more.”
“Then upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore-
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking “Nevermore.””
So Wikipedia is blacked out, of course – in English. In other European languages and in Japanese, there’s a notice at the top of the screen, but the pages work fine. In Chinese there’s nothing at all.
Let this be a lesson to all the wailing students out there that can’t get their assignments done. Learn to read another language, and you’ll be fine.
Actually all they need to learn how to read is the ‘Learn More’ page (linked to from the blackout page) where it explains that you can access Wikipedia normally either with a mobile device or by turning off your browser’s javascript.
Anonymous has launched a pair of operations in response to the takedown of the Megaupload.com site earlier today by the FBI and other authorities and continued support for the Stop Online Piracy Act by members of Congress.
“We are going to starve the beast.” In response to the arrest of Megaupload.com ‘s founders , he said, “This is the governments way of saying: ‘How nice of you protest SOPA/PIPA. But we still are in control.’ Fuck this.”
Additionally, in a wave of attacks labelled “OpDonkeyPunch” by Barrett Brown, the frequent spokesperson for Anonymous, the group is targeting Democrats in Congress who support SOPA, attacking their websites. Brown also published the fax machine phone number for Republican Rep. Lamar Smith, sponsor of SOPA.
In an email to Ars, Brown said that the intent of OpDonkeyPunch “is to show Democrats that they can’t just slide through on this and escape notice.

bob casey’s office, to me, today: “well, it;s only down for 24 hours so it’s no big deal.”
Bob Casey does not understand how the internet works.
I will not be helping him win re-election.
not after the NDAA, his vote to keep Gitmo open, his votes for no strings bailouts, and now internet censorship.
Loser.
