No one in the blogosphere deserves a higher profile, more money, and something more interesting to do than Steve Benen. I like his (soon to be former) boss, too. Paul Glastris gave me a guided tour of the West Wing of the White House back in 2000, in the waning days of the Clinton presidency. I got to peer into the Oval Office and stand outside the Situation Room. That was pretty cool, and I hope to be able to do it again some day with my son. In any case, Steve Benen is moving on from the Washington Monthly, which is kind of sad. The magazine has been good to my family, with my brother doing a lot of work for them, especially when he was first getting started as a writer. Benen says he will be “a producer for “The Rachel Maddow Show” and an MSNBC contributor.” I’m sure he’ll be a credit to a not-always-praiseworthy profession. It’s nice to know that relentlessly toiling in the insanity of our political discourse can actually be rewarding.

I have been reading Steve Benen since he was with Americans United for Separation of Church and State. I will miss his blog, but will probably watch Rachel Maddow more now. I do hope he continues his “This Week in God” posts somewhere in the sphere. Boo, glad you are still with us.
Amen to the This Week In God spots! It has been one of my favorites for years.
Word.
Love his writing and analysis.
Hard to imagine a day passing without going to Benen’s place and reading what he has to say. I hope he continues to write/blog for Maddow.
Steve Benen has been one of my daily blog stops for years. I have thoroughly enjoyed Steve’s take on things and wish him well, though I will miss his insightful daily posts.
Once again, the cream of the blogosphere is rising to the top.
Bravo, Steve! Bravo!
Congrats to Steve Benen. And much understanding for the difficult tightrope that he now must walk.
Except your first sentence is wrong. There is someone in the blogosphere who deserves more attention, money, etc. and that’s you, Booman. I’ve often had that thought, so it was odd seeing it expressed by you about someone else. Your clarity of thought is invaluable and I can’t believe I’m not reading your thoughts on the opinion page of the NY Times every day.
Ok. End of rant.
