Oklahoma (natch) state senator Ralph Shortey has introduced a bill that would ban the use of aborted fetuses in food products. Seriously.
Sen. Ralph Shortey of Oklahoma City introduced on Tuesday Senate Bill 1418, which prohibits “the sale or manufacture of food or products which contain aborted human fetuses.” He says he based the bill on an article he read online about an anti-abortion group boycotting companies that allegedly use embryonic stem cells to research and develop artificial sweeteners.
Hey, I read an article online that says the government is hoarding alien technology in a secret warehouse in Nevada. Let’s pass a bill requiring that the technology must have U.S. citizenship.
Presumably food products using fetuses that died a natural death are A-OK.
Never, ever think that Republicans cannot get stupider. It’s one challenge they’re always up for.
I’m introducing a bill that bans aborted fetus material in lawn fertilizer and pool skimming equipment.
No doubt their Senate will vote on it.
Geez, there must be something in the water in Oklahoma. Someone really messed with their precious bodily fluids.
Is this the “Soylent Green” bill?
Nah, since they only care about people until the moment of birth. After that, we’re on our own. Since Soylent Green was mostly old people, IIRC, I would think it would be A-OK with them.
Too bad, McDonald’s was about to put fetusburger on its dollar menu. You want fries with that?
Would you like to Supersize with our Third Trimester Special?
If I remember anything at all about that state’s politics, it will pass both houses and will be signed by the Guv. Meanwhile, the education system is a mess, social services will continue to be cut back, and oh…if you plan on driving on any Oklahoma bridges, make sure you have your affairs in order, just in case.
Really should just rename the state Oklahomastan.
The best way to ensure that all fetuses have the same legal rights as any other people, if not more, is to require the state to issue each one its own corporate charter at conception.
Sen Shortey is obviously destined for bigger and more ludicrous things on the national stage. I can’t wait for the RepubliKKKans to promote him to the major leagues.
