Sorry about my disappearance…it seems someone else thinks all mom’s free time are belong to him. To the point that he grabbed my leg yelling “Mine!” one morning this week when it was time for me to go to work. If only he knew how much I’d rather stay home. 😉
I hear we’re having summer like weather today, with a high of 70. I’m actually looking forward to my run this afternoon- its so much easier when it’s warmer.
Tomorrow is CBtY’s 17th birthday-where did the time go? My friend at work made him a special tie dyed kitkat cake; I can’t wait to see it. More running in my future on that one….
Good morning.
I think having a sudden growth on your leg sounds like an excellent reason to be unable to go into work. 🙂
We have a family birthday in common ~ our granddaughter will be 7 tomorrow. Happy Birthday to them both!
Happy birthday to her!
We’re having special cake and Mexican food to celebrate, how about you?
Not sure what the plans are yet, although we often go to a kid-friendly Mexican restaurant near their home for birthday and other celebrations. Here’s the serenata del cumpleaños from birthday #5.
The monthly Flog is tomorrow and the theme is Brought to you by the letter “M”.
And the number 3, sez Elmo.
Ah, those subversive little letters and numbers. Looking forward to socialistic photos!
Sad news today. My 101-year old grandmother died this morning. My maternal grandmother died in 1975, but my grandfather remarried and his second wife was basically my grandmother as far as I was concerned. So, I’ll be off to Kalamazoo sometime in the next few days for the memorial service. I did get to visit with her for her 100th birthday. And she met Finn. Too bad he won’t remember her.
Sorry for your loss, Boo. I bet meeting Finn was one of the highlights of her 100th year.
Very sorry to hear. I learned so much from my grandparents and would have at least a thousand new questions to ask them if they were but here today. They were some of my life’s greatest treasures.
Add my sympathies to Jim’s.
I’m sorry to hear this, BooMan. I hope her passing was easy.
Very sad news, BooMan. My (maternal) grandmother passed away in the early 1980s. I still miss her terribly.
.
My sympathy for your loss Boo. Losing the matriarch of a family means losing wisdom, a listener and an advisor. Adds more responsibility on the younger generation. I’m sure you’ll share your memories of her with Finn as he grows older.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Mrs. ID had the same test today that boran2 had last week. I’m glad for both of you that its now “behind” you;-)
<Ducks as random selected thrown objects come flying>
Does that make me the butt of your humor?
Well, I was going to mention a certain early South Park episode, or Fantastic Voyage, but in retrospect, I thought it would be much too crass;-)
Olivia will post the Flog for the theme of Brought to you by the letter “M” later this morning.
I guess I really have been making myself scarce lately. It’s been a busy last few weeks, and it looks like things won’t let up (a little) until sometime next month. It’s all good.
Welcome back. If you have some time, come on over to the flog and share some of your photos (doesn’t matter if you don’t have any for the theme).
I’ve gotta check it out. This has been a busy weekend for us.
I’ll see what I can do. I had a crazy week this past week. This week, I’ll clock in close to 60 or 70 hours at work, and then next week I catch up on everything that is currently on the back burner. Family and friends keep insisting I spend my spare minutes with them and away from the internet tubes. Go figure. 🙂
Ugh, way too much work. Enjoy your family time.
:::waves to DD:::
Waves back! 🙂
Good to ‘see’ you hangin’ around, DD!
Good to see you too. Hola!

Why, that looks like Finny’s hair this morning… 🙂
I am feeling victimized by the time change today…ugh. It’s so stupid that we go through this twice a year, every year. And not worth moving to Arizona to avoid.
I’m thinking Occupystandardtime m’self;-)
I really like that idea…and I think I can do that since I’ll be working from home the first half of the week. 🙂
Or at least OccupyIndianaShouldBeOnCentralTime.
Yeah!
It was dark this morning until a much later time. This is not working for me.
I’m telling myself that being able to spend time outside after work will make it seem worth it. Not that past history would suggest that’s even remotely true…
In the meantime, a nap would be nice. Maybe while Finny takes his.
Another dark morning after the time change. Can’t wait for those longer days.
Is anyone else getting the Support Sheriff Joe PAC ads in the sidebar? What a disgusting little man!
TFSM, no.
I get Swiss ads in French and German.
Amazing and a bit spooky how all that works.
wunderground.com prediction for this
Saturday
Partly cloudy. High of 91F.
Winds from the SSE at 15 to 20 mph. Breezy.
91F in May I can recall, April,maybe?
But mid March???
Wow. And here I was all impressed that are having a high of 79 today.
150 by July? Guess we better have the old A/C serviced.
No worries. It will be 125 in the shade.
Whew! Well that’s certainly a relief!
Or maybe the farmers should start planting now because we must be solidly into spring — I saw a butterfly yesterday.
I’m thinking that seeds can be planted directly outside rather than starting them in those little peat planters on the windowsill. It’s been amazingly warm.
Depends on the plant. Personally, I’d be wary. We could easily get an Easter snowstorm.
Right now the outdoor plants are about 3 weeks early..
I’m a bit afraid of that too as spring beginnings are running also 2-3 weeks early here and I’d hate to see it literally nipped in the bud.
A depressing thought indeed.

Beautiful shot, Andi. Great color!
Thanks. I’m looking forward though to losing the color those old leaves provide (the beeches finally drop their old leaves as they start budding out).
Same here! I’m glad we don’t have to rake ’em.
(The willow twigs are plenty bad enough, thank you.)
Looks like it’s been revised to somewhat more reasonable
Saturday
Partly cloudy. High of 72F. Winds from the ESE at 10 to 20 mph. Breezy.
Robins have arrived, two weeks earlier than my memory says for normal.
We’re supposed to have a high of 81 today. I really can’t believe it.
The wildflowers have started coming up and the maple trees are flowering.
We have redbuds in full bloom, and it looks like we will have that blush of green all over the trees by next week t the latest…early allergy season, my favorite.
I’m surprised you are ahead of us — our redbud flowers are just little nubs; they’re nowhere near ready to open. And a lot of our trees haven’t started to bud yet.
You guys are way ahead of us. I’ve got blooming crocus but nothing on the trees yet.
Same here, with patches of snow & ice. This coming week should really push things along. No sign of precipitation, either. Bad news.
D’ya think that some future anthropologists will find these posts typical of the Early Climate-Corrective Period?
Heh. Michael Crichton would surely find fodder for a cautionary tale if he was still around.
Weirdly enough, I’ve never read him. Does he do dystopia?
The state of spring around here:
The trees in bloom are Bradford Pears, I think.
Amazing. Quite pretty, too!
I can’t wait to see the daffodils here — it means that whatever snow we get won’t last.
The white daffs haven’t appeared here yet but the yellows daffs and some of the wildflowers are up.
We have white and yellow daffs up, the crocus have come and gone, and I’m looking forward to the bluebells coming up along my favorite trail on the schuykill river.
We have music circle at 9:30 today…not sure I’m ready to get out the door that quickly this morning. BooMan was rattling around the house from 3 to 5 this morning.
Time to show my ignorance — what’s a music circle?
Iirc, everyone sits in a circle & pretends to be the same person.
Is it a game? And where’s the music?
That sounds like my general approach to everyday life ..
Seriously, though: I’ve been in drum circles; music circles may be different.
(I don’t remember a morning drum circle that didn’t start the night before.)
CG will have to enlighten us.
I have to know if Cabin Girl and Wilderness Wench are the same person.
Also, does anyone here have horses? They are amazing beings…they have served humans for centuries…
Not even close.
No, CG & I are not the same person. We’re too busy.
Lol – nope, we are each our own person!
I wonder that, too.
I’ve never seen them both at the same time….
Perhaps it was the juxtaposition…the similarity of Cabin and Wilderness…the contrast between Girl and Wench…at the deepest level of reality, women are much more powerful than men…the Universe is essentially Female!
We’re much more powerful than men on some other levels, too.
Indeed.
Sunday (today)
Mostly cloudy in the morning, then partly cloudy with thunderstorms and rain showers. Fog early. High of 86F. Winds from the SSE at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Breezy. Chance of rain 20%.
Bolding mine- NDD
I took the pup to the St Patrick’s day parade on Broadway, Fargo, this afternoon, to celebrate her 4th birthday.
Then after a great meal of corned beef at the HoDo, Ms MDD amd I left the city for the country abode, where we enjoyed our first bonfire of the year. (We’ve never had one this early that I can recall.) Temp at that time was 53F, little to no wind. Now, at 3 AM we’re still at 48F.
Guess I’d better turn in soon… AndiF will soon be gittin’ up.
Wow, that is freakishly warm!
It’s summer in the Dakotas, apparently.
Today it was summer here, too. It was gross!
It was beautiful by us, will be again today. Why was it gross by you?
Too warm & humid! Especially with bare trees. My body & mind rebel.
I agree ww … it doesn’t feel good to go from coats and boots one day to t-shirts and shorts almost overnight.
No, it doesn’t. So aprubtly .. it’s all a mess.
But it means nothing at all about Earth’s delicate balance. Absolutely nothing!
Good to see you, Miss O.

Yes!
All the snow in our yard finally melted this weekend – the temps were in the 20s (70s)! We’re breaking warm weather records each day, as well as nighttime records (it’s as warm over night (10ºC) as it should be during the day for this time of year). And this morning I spotted two yellow crocus flowers in the back garden.
I was walking on snow covered paths a few days ago, and now I’m out in the yard in T-shirts! In March … :-O
We didn’t quite make the 86F predicted for Sunday. Let’s say it was high 70s depending on location.
Here in the boonies, where the pup and I are currently holed up, the high for today was 75F.
Yesterday in the kitchen I dispatched my first mosquito of the season, and on walk-about saw a small orange colored butterfly.
Today I pulled a tick off the pup that had likely been there a day or two already. So we declared a bath was in order. Next I’ll apply a dose Frontline.
I’d say tick season is at least a month early. Ackk!
We had a record high today and it got me thinking, if the spring blossoms are out, can the little ants that like to parade around the kitchen sink be far behind?
We easterners are all in the 80s, but look what Manee’s weather is in Tucson.
Wacky weather.
I’m hearing from my left-coast cousins its snowy and chilly in California as well.
It sure is. I found one on our barn cat today.
Apparently we’re set for an intensified Lyme season here due to the weather.
Supposed to be 86 here today. Guess we’re skipping spring and going straight to summer.
And thanks for mentioning the ticks — we’d better put the tick stuff on our dogs too.
