The sun has finally come back out here, after a rain-soaked couple of days…we’ve gotten spoiled with the early summer weather, I guess.
I’m hoping to get out of work early enough to squeeze in an evening run before dinner. What is everyone else up to today?
That’s a lovely green umbrella you have up there!
Yesterday was sunny, but windy and a bit chilly – I kept warm by working in the yard. Hands in the dirt again today and a rainy day tomorrow. Feels good to be outdoors for a change.
It’s chilly and rainy here now too.
Planting anything exciting, or just doing spring yard cleanup?
Violas and columbine yesterday, grass today to try and fix the huge bare spots where the town dug through to run a sewer line last year. Got a nice big wedding ring blister from raking. No veggies yet in anticipation of more frost, although I did get the tomato patch prepped and ready today.
J did my 2 miles earlier. It’s cool/windy here.
I’m envious, it was raining by the time I got home from work and voting, so I’ll have to wait until tomorrow.
On a funny note, one of my friends and I were in the news footage of the people running in our 5k that aired on the local news that night.
Is your race on the 6th?
Wow, that’s cool that you were on the news. Yep, my race is on the 6th. I managed to do 3 of them last year.
Did the news station post a video of the footage?
Yes. It’s on YouTube…
Got link?
.
This event? Some nice dogs participated …
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
does this work?
Worked for me ~ pretty cool!
It did! I saw you!
I have to send it to my mom. I think it’s funny that I have my first one on video now.

I got the blocked photo blues.
I guess I could start providing a description so you’d have some idea of how very unexciting these pictures are. 😉
That’ll be good practice for your prose. 😉
Thanks!
Well, this will be the last one of these I’ll be posting.
After this past weekends’ storms pushed through, all the chicks disappeared overnight. 🙁
Very sorry to hear that about the chicks. I’ve enjoyed your series of photos. We have a pair of Cardinals that come to our feeder, but haven’t located the nest. Maybe the kids will show up one of these days, when they’re feathered out and flying.
Oh, I hope they are all right.
My thought exactly. Hopefully they got out before things got bad.
We’re hoping the moved them to another nest as they’ve got several around. Probably a stronger bush, we just haven’t located.
Nature is amazing. Parents probably knew the storm was coming and relocated them. Let’s go with that theory…. 🙂
Aw, I hope they’re okay.
Just thought I’d drop by and say hey.
Hi Don Durito ~ I was just visiting over at your place the other night. Good reads & listening.
Nice to know I haven’t been forgotten. Who knows, I might actually be able to update my corner of blogtopia in a more proper fashion in a few weeks. I’m not at a loss for things to say, just hours in a day. So it goes.
Hey back. Always glad to have you drop by.
Back atcha.
It’s beautiful here, sunny and fairly warm. Hopefully it wll stay this way for next week’s race.
I hope so too!
We have our annual pilgrimage to the Maryland Sheep nd Wool Festival coming up on Saturday…provided the wether stays nice.
My running buddies and I are planning to do a series of midsummer night 5ks over the summer. Should be interesting.
Do you go for the yarn or the border collies (there’s a Scottish festival near us and we love to watch the sheep dog trials)?
I go for a little of boh. If Finny is over his cold, this will be more of a sheep and animal activities year to keep him happy, although I have a few indie yarn dyers I wouldn’t mind supporting. 🙂
If the weather isn’t too good though, I may skip it in favor of Rhinebeck in the fall.
Enjoy the festival.
Hopefully I’m not looking at overuse of my knees. I’ve got to back off a bit this week.
Do you need new shoes? That was my problem in March. Took about 2weeks to get over after I got new shoes, though.

Blocked! Double drat.
But you aren’t missing the typo of “wwim” instead of “swim”.
Triple drat.
Happy May Day in honor of those who brought us the 8 hour work day.
Forgoing the snarky remark and seconding that.
Yeah, I understand. The 8 hour day doesn’t exist for many of us anymore. Much of what we had once gained has slipped away.
… where the H also stands for harassed.

What did they find?
Newt’s lost reputation.
That’s way beyond the noses of a couple of mutts — we’d need a pack of bloodhounds for that.
That’s even beyond the reach of the most sensitive bloodhounds, I’m afraid.
Finny is still under the weather this morning, sitting here watching Easter videos of himself on my iphone. Now that my computer is back from the shop, I should be able to upload them…
I think we need a new cafe, don’t you?
I think we need a new cafe, don’t you?
I guess the better question is “Do you?”. 😉
But it’s probably an appropriate place to bury it.
The mutts say, “Not in our backyard.”
They may eat and roll in dead and disgusting things, but they think something as toxic or imaginary as Newt’s reputation should be hung around his neck like an albatross.
Those are some smart dogs.
The usual … nothing.
Just heard that Booker T Jones is the speaker at IU commencement tomorrow. Pretty cool ~ I wish I knew a way to sneak in and listen. Close to 9,000 diplomas being given out ~ wow!
9,000 graduates, how many millions in student loans does that represent? Spooky on such a happy day.
I’m so glad you asked! I’ve always wanted an opportunity to use the word “googol” in a sentence;-)
That may be why there are so many dad, mom, kid groups sucking up the brewskis over at the micro brewery nearby.
That’s why I’m feverishly putting away money for the b2 boy’s college expenses. I know folks with well in excess of $100,000.00 in loans outstanding.
With our oldest now 40 something, we’ve now completed that stage in life and are looking forward to the Era of Cat Food Commission Concerns with great anticipation.
I feel so lucky to have gone to school when it was relatively cheap. Between jobs, scholarships, teaching assistantships, and parents, Jim and I were both able to graduate with Masters degrees without any debt. And most of the people I know who did have debt paid theirs off within a few years.
… which is a long-winded way of saying, my sympthaties to all you parents and your kids.
I was actually able to pay my law school loan on time, from start to finish. Never a deferment. That would be literally impossible today. I can’t imagine how folks are getting by.
I thought that I was late for the party but there was none. I leave for a few hours and look what happens.
Well what’s happened to us is that we’ve left Indiana and driven through Missouri and Illinois and a big chunk of Kansas. Tomorrow we’ll finish off Kansas and drive all the way across Colorado to Grand Junction.
My only excuse is that I’ve been out for the entire weekend enjoying the sunshine. Have a great time out west!
Thanks We’re looking forward to it. Next up is Utah which is our favorite place to hike and we haven’t been back there since 2006.
